AAA - worth joining for discounts for Jan???

I keep reading posts and I can't tell - how are the discounts in general? I'm looking at January, 2007 - I know that the rates aren't out, but maybe someone here has gone in January, 2006 (or 2005, etc.) and can give me an idea on the discounts. Is there always a AAA discount? Thanks.
