I called today and got a AAA room-only reservation for the Contemporary Jan 31 - Feb 3. We were planning a longer trip the first of June, but have recently discovered we're expecting a third baby at that time
So, it will be DH and me and our 2-and 4-year old daugters. Since we only will have 2.5 days at DW, we chose the Contemp so we will be very close to MK which might end up being the only park we visit.
I made the room-only ressie and it is $150 off the rack rate. I called AAA to price a package with the DDP, and it's basically the same $150 off the total.
The advantage of the room-only is that I can cancel up to five days before the trip at no penalty. That and I don't have to pay the balance on Dec. 17 right before Christmas! The advantage of the package is that I would already have the DDP even if a better rate doesn't come out.
I can't decide if I should keep the AAA room-only rate and change to a package if a great discount comes out, or if I should go with the AAA package with meals and have them apply the codes if they come out. We're not certain if the DDP will make sense, but I can see that just one table service meal on the plan would save a lot over the non-plan price. It's just a lot of planning to make those reservations
