AAA Questions

Can I book it myself or do I have to have a AAA agent book for me? How many rooms can I book w/ discount? Can it be used for room only and NOT as a package? Is there a good discount on tix or about the same as Disney Store. About how much does it cost to join(all I really want it for is the Disney discount so I don't need anything over the top for a program)? This is my last chance for some kind of discount so I want to see if it would be worth it to join AAA or not? HELP!!!!

I'll share what I do know about AAA (I am a member). You do not have to book your trip through AAA. Simply call hotel reservations and supply them with your AAA number for a room discount ( I just got a good discount at Port Orleans Riverside for March). This way you can get the AAA discount without a package. I am not sure what the room reservation limit is for using AAA rates. I believe AAA membership costs a little over 100.00 but is well worth it. I use it all the time on hotel rooms..so if you travel beyond the Disney trip it will pay of.

I have a basic AAA membership that cost about $45.00. It is worth it for discounts.

Wow $45 would be totally worth it,thanks. What about the cost of park hoppers? If we just purchased them separately from the room?

Ok the AAA discount if on the room, 10-20% depending on the resort and time of year. You can also get the discount on the room portion of a package.
But for the package you have to book through AAA.
The plus of booking through AAA is you get the diamond card, which gets you discounts and some resuarants, world of disney in DTD and discounts of behind the sceens tours.
Discounts on the park tickets are not always a deal. sometimes you can get better deals online.
If you do book a package with AAA double check it since some TA's don't know how to book the package with the room discount.

Check this out.I am a AAA member,and I called 1 407 W disney,to check rates for room only,at POP.With my AAA discount,I was quoted $749.00.BUT!!!! When I called AAA,at a travel location in my area,I was quoted a discounted rate of $673.20.Now,I don't know if that price was with tax or without,but that is what I was quoted.But before making the reservations,I decided to stay at the Caribbean beach Resort.My AAA discount,through AAA,was $1124.00 for 8 nights.Tax included.So I would believe that the AAA price of $673.20 was with tax.They usually give the price with tax.But I wonder why was I quoted one price by Disney people for a AAA discount and a different price by AAA people themselves?Go figure.
By the way: the AAA membership for one person,basic membership is $57.00 a year.I did the same thing last year,as you mentioned,become a AAA member just for the discounted rates and such.Plus,I renewed my membership again this year.But think about it.AAA is not a bad idea to have year after year.That one time to need their roadside services will make the membership worth having.Especially traveling down to disney.
Also,I almost forgot:You CAN make room reservations only with AAA without a package.I never buy packages anyway.The amount of tix in the package are always for nearly the same amount of time your stay is for.So if you don'y plan on going to the parks on everyday of your trip,then why pay for so many days in a package and not use them?Only unless you pay extra for the no expiration option;which is applied to all of the days on the tix,not just to the days you don't use.Buy your tix separately,and then you can get just what will work for your stay,no more,no less.Hope I've helped.

My membership was also 45.00 year. Live in OH. It's different $$ for different locations. You can book directly through CRO 407-w-disney or call any AAA office. Some are better than others concerning Disney. If you want a package (dining & tkts) you can still get your discounts but, you must book directly through AAA. Tkts. through AAA or Disney are the same as far as I can see, but we did go from 4 day hopper to 5 day hopper for only 5.00 directly through AAA. I booked mine through the office in Lebanon, OH, agents name is Erin. 513-932-3300. She is great to work with.

My yearly membership is also $45.00. I booked a Tower room at CR for next June on the AAA website. I had also called CRO and they gave me the same discounted price over the phone. At the time, I didn't reserve it-just asking for prices. When I called back the second time to actually book it, I was told that the AAA prices for June '06 weren't out yet-- --go figure. So, I just went back on the AAA website and did it on my own.
