AAA - 2013 Rates (We just booked!)

So crazy; I booked last Friday and the CM did not ask for my AAA number. I assumed they would and had dug it out of my wallet before I called.

It's certainly interesting that they're not conistent. :confused3

She asked me for my membership # before she would give me a quote with the discount. I received my new reservation by e-mail this morning and it has my membership # listed on the reservation.

I know Christmas is blacked out for AAA discounts, does anybody know if the dates around Easter are too? I could call.........but it's so much easier asking here. :)

They were not blacked out this year during Easter. That is the discount we used as it was the only one available.

I also booked my room for Marathon weekend via Disney directly.

I have called twice and checked directly with AAA for my Feb9-15th rate at AOA LM room.:confused3

Halloween...but this is when I booked it last year without any problems. I just can't see all campsites but tent/popup being sold out.

I was just able to add my AAA discount to my April 2013 YC reservation, saved 15%. Hoping Disney does offer a higher discount at some point, but still happy with what I got. The CM did ask me for my membership number. I did inquire about a AAA discount a few days ago before I booked and that CM said nothing was available yet, I was also told the same thing through my local AAA office. It was certainly worth an additional call to get a knowledgable CM! :)

Question for those that know. I have a package reservation right now through Disney. Can I call and get a AAA discount or do I have have to rebook the whole thing as a room only? If that is the case, can AAA take my existing reservation and apply their discount without rebooking?

Thanks!

You will have to go to AAA and book with them. They will probably cancel your current reservation and rebook. Disney can book AAA room only but not packages.

I made the reservations for myself and my family, three rooms in all. Would I be able to get a AAA discount for all three of the rooms or only the one I'm staying in? Not a huge deal because my family are all AAA members as well, but it would be a lot easier if I could just do it all with my card.

Yes, AAA contacts Disney to "take over" your existing reservation and advises you what you're discount will be. You do not need to rebook. At least this is the way my AAA agent did it 2 weeks ago.

Just found this thread today. Very helpful! (thanks!)

Trouble gertting info from AAA. Wound up driving to our local office. The lady there quoted me a price (June 2013, Villas @ WL) that is almost 16% less than Disney price.

But, she had to relay every question to someone on the phone, and she told me I should look at Old Key West - saying 'you can walk to Epcot from there, it's pretty convenient'. Really? Walk from OKW to Epcot? I don't think so.

I think I'll book direct with Disney but ask for the AAA discount (never knew I could do that before). The AAA web site has failed me, attempts to get info by phone failed me, and this lady in our local office did not boost my confidence in AAA. Glad some of you have better AAA reps.

But I do believe that to get a package with AAA discount you have to go to AAA. Over the phone with Disney you can only do room only AAA discounts. 16% is good. I may have to pay a trip to my AAA office and compare that to our room only purchasing tickets separate. Room only, my discount is only 8% second full week after Easter.

Did you go to a AAA travel office? They will have TAs that specialize in various travel locations including Disney. The other offices will not know what is available, which could explain the phone call to the other office.

I have a package deal with free dining from 12/10/12 to 12/14/12 for BLT and just added 3 nights room only with AAA discount for AofA for 12/7/12 - 12/10/12. Saved $96 - 10%. :) He did ask for AAA # and expiration date.
