6th November
Today was our Hollywood Studios day and we intended to be there for the whole day.
We had an ADR at Mama Melrose for lunch with the Fantasmic package.
We headed to Toy Story Mania and loved it. It is such a fun experience - I bought the WII game for the kids this Christmas, just to re-live the memories.
We also went to see the Muppet 3D show which was so-so. The kids liked the muppet theming.
I wanted to see Beauty and the Beast and this certainly didn't disappoint.
We went to see the Voyage of the Little Mermaid and I found this totally enchanting, apart from the people who insisted filming it on their phones ggggrrr! I let Olivia and Kev do Rock n Roller coaster as this ride does nothing for me - I usually end up with a headache after this one!
I wanted to go on TOT before lunch so dragged Olivia on with me. I was really surprised at how different the ride is from the one in DLP. I enjoyed both rides but Olivia preferred the DLP version. She dragged Kev on straight afterwards and then we were ready for our ADR.
Waiting to go on ToT
Mama Melrose
I really liked the fairy lights and authentic Italian feel of the interior. We were seated in a booth and served quickly. This package included a starter and Emilia ordered the Minestrone soup, which she described as 'spectacular'!
Kev had the antipasto which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the wild mushroom flatbread for my main course which was really good, but only if (like me) you love mushrooms! The most memorable thing about dessert was Emilia's spaghetti meatball cupcake which was enormous!
After lunch we decided to chill out in the Honey I Shrunk playground. My kids always seem to sniff out opportunities to get wet and we spent a long time laughing as they tried to dodge water jets!
We got a few back-drop photos:
They had already put up the Osborne Lights and I was absolutely gutted that I didn't get to see them on this trip, despite being at WDW when they were on
A good excuse to go back though, isn't it?
We got this obligatory pic:
and I tried on lots of hats
And then it was time for Fantasmic!
Fantasmic
We had tickets from our lunch at Mama Melrose, so we made our way to the designated seating area. We have a GAC and so we sat on the back row. It seemed like a long wait and the warm-up CM's tried hard to get the crowd going. Once the show started, we were all mesmerised. The girls loved the show and particularly liked 'story' featuring classic villains. They waved like crazy when the boats sailed by at the end.
I would have liked to have watched it from a different angle and to have been nearer to the front. Unfortunately, with Olivia's anxiety disorder, we sit at the back for every show/experience. Hopefully, one day in the future, we will be able to sit nearer to the front.
After Fantasmic! we went on a couple more rides, including ToT again in the dark, and then headed home.
Tomorrow was going to be a totally 'Princess' day. But just like most of my best laid plans, this one went a bit awry too.
