A Two Short, Too Different Spring Break Trip (Time to Say Goodbye)

We had a great Mothers Day on this side of town. DH and DD made me breakfast in bed. I forgot how wonderful it is to not have to jump out of bed in the morning - DD is an early riser. We spent a lot of time at the park, too. Nice and relaxing. Work came too fast this morning.

Jill - I am so sorry how your day went. My DD, Abby, has been reading the trip report with me when I am at home and loves Brooklyn's pictures. I told her she likes to go to Disney World like her and she asked if she could come with us next time:).

There are definitely pros and cons to each, but they are both wonderful!

If that is in my future.....I can't wait. :goodvibes Funny I have always wanted twins....a boy and girl....so then I would get one of each in one shot ;)

I'm glad you got to have two Mother's Day celebrations. I like spreading out the fun!

Always fun to spread it out!!!

Be sure and check your e-mail I'm going to send you some video links I uploaded. It is the Music City Chorus and a quartet (That's Life) that my uncle sings in and another quartet that is just AWESOME!!!! :thumbsup2

We wanted to see the gorillas, so we found ourselves in just the right place.

my favorite! :yay:

this one's my favorite. i love them!

Some pertinent information that might win you a million dollars on a game show at some time in the future.

disney3-18-09beginningHSAK294.jpg

both informative and gross at the same time!

There seems to be a theme in this place!

disney3-18-09beginningHSAK297.jpg

what's with all the poop?

This guy entertained us with more 'pooey' info while we waited for the morning's procedure.

disney3-18-09beginningHSAK298.jpg

is it just me or is that pooey way too close to that dude's face?

I don't remember what animal that pooey belonged to.
An elephant probably, or maybe a hippo.

Or a dinosaur.

:rotfl2:

And then they brought her out of the back room into the front.

The pictures can't properly show how cool this was to see.

i bet! i want to see something like this one day. i showed them ray and he though they were cool too. such talented people working on such beautiful animals! i hope the kitty was okay. from the schedule it seems they were just doing some routine exams.

jill - sorry about your cruddy day! i had to go to auto zone today too but only because one of my headlights was out. so your problem was definitely bigger! glad you were close to home. my battery died on me when i was driving through snow in indiana when my dad had his open heart surgery up there. not fun!!!!

Wow, we learn something new every day! Never thought I'd be learning about poop today. :lmao:

Those are really cool pictures of the tiger! Did they say how they caught it to bring it in? That's what I'd like to know!

Jill-so sorry about your day! :headache: Hi Brookie! :cutie:

We've never done the actual trails at AK-just the ones around the Oasis that aren't really marked with an official sign. I'm thinking this might be a fun item for our December list!

Does the Conversation Station always have the poop facts? I wonder if Henry will be at a age where he would find that hilarious, or if it would still be a bit over his head...

The tiger procedure looked awesome! Just to see such a creature laying on a table like that--wow!

Jill, I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating day! I'm glad you got a new battery and also I hope the meds for Bella take care of it all.

I am going to get to the Mall of America someday. Do you have a Henry Visits the Mall of America picture to share?

Not from our recent trip...but here is a picture of him in the shirt we purchased at the Mall of America Disney Store, it's a Cars theme (his fav!):

IMG_9358Small.jpg

Hugs to BrooklynnsMommy for all the car troubles today.

Glad the doctor offered some meds to help out.

Awww, monkeys. That is the cutest ball of white fluff ever! I bet that baby is so adorable.
Gorilla looks like he needs a hug....:rotfl:

We plan to visit the Conservation Station for the first time in August. :)
Poor tiger, I hope he faired well. He is massive and so beautiful.

That's TMI about the animal poop.

Play day at school sounds like a blast! A VERY FUN DAY had by all! :yay:

Great AK pictures, we have never taken the time to go into Rafiki's! That is on the must do list now, so very cool!
Love the hidden MeMom and the African Bullfrog skeleton!

There are snakes and spiders out there, too, if you're interested. Jiminy Cricket and Pocahontas can be found pretty easily for pictures with short lines.

. I got the medicine

I needed a new one and now I have one!

Brooklynn says "HI!" She is waving at the computer screen.:wave2:

I'm trying to help you look on the bright side of a rough day here.
You got the medicine, so Bella will be feeling better.
You got a new battery, so the car will start now and you can be the nice neighbor who jumps others off again.
You have a precious little girl who can find B on the keyboard and is friendly enough to wave to people on the computer screen.

Have a Terrific (no, no, not Terrible... Terrific) Tuesday!
I love ya past Pluto, and I know today will be much calmer.

How cool to see the tiger exam! Love all the pooey factoids!

The tiger exam was cool. That was a fun day of education!

Being a third-grade teacher, I have a unique appreciation for pooey information. You have to understand what I'm around: When I teach my kids the words to 'The Ballad of Davy Crockett' and they get to the part that says 'seeing his duty clear', they don't think duty! I have to expain the line every year.
Every single year!

I love the poo facts! They made me chuckle.

How awesome that you were able to see a Tiger. I am going to have to bring Mom back there, I think she'd love it.

You would be at home with my class!

I hope you guys find your way to Rafiki's for a little while, at least.
I'm jealous of your very short countdown, but looking forward to being with you in spirit while you're there and enjoying your pictures upon your return.

Jill....hope your day got better once you got home. And I hope the meds work for Bella's reflux (is she fussy at all--like alot??) Caleb was that way and obviously majorly spitting up but they finally took him off meds when he was 3 mos because he was not fussy anymore even though he STILL majorally spits up. Someone the other day said he kid did it til he was 2 yrs old...I was like don;t tell me that...I'm just waiting for the day when Calebs clothes are completely spat up food colored. Its got to end sometime right??

 (Me waving back at brooklyn!)

Brooklynn finally outgrew hers, so there are clean clothes at the end of the tunnel! :)

Jill, sorry to hear about your frustrating day -- it always seems like not just one, but a whole bunch of things happen on days like that, doesn't it? Hope things calmed down for you once you got home.

MeMom, if I was wavering at all about doing the walking trails or Conservation Station (I wasn't really wavering, but we can pretend ;)), your pictures would sell me on them for sure! That tiger procedure is super cool!!! I hope we get to see something just as neat!

Yes, let's pretend you didn't want to go at all, like you were scared of gorillas.
Really, really scared.
Even though you live with two howler monkeys.

And then you saw my pictures and heard my stories.
And then, you said, "Wow, we need to go there. That looks cool!"
And then Chelsea and Connor jumped up and down :Pinkbounc:bounce:and cried out, "Oh yes, Mother, please, let us do that!!!"
And you put in on your list.
In your journal formerly known as the Beach Club journal. :)

Boy, that was kinda fun.

What else are you not wanting to do that I can talk you into?
It's a nice way for me to make myself a part of your vacation!

I will finish replies later. I have to go and pretend that I am a 50-something year old woman with a job for a few hours, not a twelve year old writing goofy things on the computer.

Have a great day everyone! School is almost over!!! :cool1:
We're working on two digit times two digit multiplication today.
I will need your prayers.

Isn't it always a shame when we must behave as grown-ups?

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: You made me laugh out loud, MeMom! I will think of something else that you can convince us to do!

Oh, but pretending to be a grown-up is really no fun at all -- I have to pretend today as well even though I would prefer to DIS and daydream about my upcoming vacation. Thank goodness we are almost done with school, then we can revert to our true selves for the summer. :lmao:

I just had to share with you how your facts about poop helped me out last night :rotfl:

Patrick loves the show The Amazing Race. Sunday night was the finale and he was cheering for a particular team. Unfortunately, the time it was on crossed his bedtime so he recorded it. Last night after dinner he went in the living room to watch while I stayed in the kitchen and dised. After awhile he came walking into the kitchen in tears. Greg had no clue what was wrong but I knew immediately...my very sensitive little man was upset because the team he was cheering for didn't win. I happened to be reading your TR and started telling him poop facts and the tears dried up pretty quickly!

Always the teacher! Thanks MeMom :thumbsup2 (I also thought I would share that at my PTA meeting last night I found out that they still have spring DIBELS to go before the end of the year. Aren't you glad to be done!)

I'm glad to hear and see that you both had a great mother's day! Jill, I saw those pictures of the girls on facebook and I was going to ask you why you didn't put them on here because they're all so precious!! :cutie: And what a GREAT picture of all 4 of you, I think even MeMom might be pleased with that one Sorry to hear you had a rough morning today Jill! At least everythings fixed with the car now.

MeMom, I love the AK pictures. That tiger procedure is amazing! How cool to get to see that up close and personal.

I showed the pictures to pretty much anyone who would look at them at school. I think they are so cute together.

The tiger was cooler than you can tell just from these pictures. There was quite a crowd watching her.

Jill what a frustrating day. At least it is taken care of now.

MeMom check off Field Day- I know that it is something that makes me think the end is really coming!

Yep, Field Day is a sure sign of the end!

MeMom and Jill, glad you had a Happy Mother's Day! I love the picture of the 4 of you together, it turned out great!

Enjoyed seeing the pictures of the tiger. I bet that was neat to see in person.

I hope you had a good one, too. I'm going to check out your blog and catch up on the latest.

Breakfast in bed sounds good, and so does a day at the park. Which one do you go to?

I'm sure Brooklynn would love to go to WDW with you!

If that is in my future.....I can't wait. Funny I have always wanted twins....a boy and girl....so then I would get one of each in one shot ;)

Boy and girl twins - that's cheating! You need two long, painful labors to be a real mom!!! ;)

I'll check out the videos. I haven't been on my e-mail this evening.

my favorite!

I knew you'd like the gorillas!

The tiger was just getting a routine physical and she had some other little thing wrong with her, but I can't remember.

Wow, we learn something new every day! Never thought I'd be learning about poop today.

Those are really cool pictures of the tiger! Did they say how they caught it to bring it in? That's what I'd like to know!

Jill-so sorry about your day! Hi Brookie! :cutie:

It's not on my regular conversational list, but when it comes to Animal Kingdom, I find myself talking about unusual things, I guess.

They gave her a tranquilizer. To wake her up, there was a second shot that would bring her out of it within twenty minutes, they said.

Not from our recent trip...but here is a picture of him in the shirt we purchased at the Mall of America Disney Store, it's a Cars theme (his fav!):

Henry probably wouldn't understand the joy of being able to discuss poo openly and get away with at this age, but take him when he's seven or eight, and it will bring him great joy.

Scroll down a little further to read kschafer's story about her son, and you'll see what I mean.

He will like Conservation Station, though. There's a petting zoo, if you are interested. I think you would all like both trails, because you can see the animals pretty close.

Hugs to BrooklynnsMommy for all the car troubles today.

That's TMI about the animal poop.

Play day at school sounds like a blast! A VERY FUN DAY had by all! :yay:

I was really hoping to get a glimpse of the baby Colobus monkey, but I was glad to at least see her fluffy tail.

That's so weird, isn't it?

I think your package arrived today. I got a ticket in the mailbox, but I won't be able to pick it up until after school one day this week or first thing Saturday morning.

Isn't it always a shame when we must behave as grown-ups?

I try not to act grown-up too often. Just enough to get by. ;)

You made me laugh out loud, MeMom!

Unfortunately, I'm teaching summer school, so I have to play grown-up for another four weeks after school is over.
Fortunately, the money will help pay for happy Disney times.

Glad to be of service. You can verify what I said earlier to Brook!

Yes, I'm glad to be finished with DIBELS, and I'm almost finished with Running Records. Report cards are 95% done, too, so I'm in pretty good shape right now.

He is getting so big!

I know it! :sad1::):scared: <--- my mixed bag of emotions about him getting big. ;) He does look older and older as we creep toward that 2 year mark...

Henry probably wouldn't understand the joy of being able to discuss poo openly and get away with at this age, but take him when he's seven or eight, and it will bring him great joy.

I was thinking the humor of poo might escape him yet too. BUT, the petting zoo sounds just perfect. Plus, seeing the animals closer will be right up his alley!

I read kschafer's story...:rotfl2: love it! So cute.

Hey everyone! Just wanted you all to know that I got my Mickey Monitor in the mail today with my annual passholder savings cards. You have to have the card and go to the main ticket window between May 1 and July 31. Each card gives you 10% off the purchase of up to 6 annual passes. If anyone is interested please let me know, I would hate for them to just go to waste. We will be using 1 for Trent, Jarvis, and MeMom but that leaves us with a total of 7 savings passes left (John got 4 and I got 4). If you know of anybody that would like to take advantage of these please let me know so I can mail them to you.

I am so waiting for my Mickey Monitor to arrive...........

I've only been a passholder since January...so far I haven't gotten a Mickey Monitor at all--are they just a seasonal magazine? I sure hope I have one headed my way!

I've only been a passholder since January...so far I haven't gotten a Mickey Monitor at all--are they just a seasonal magazine? I sure hope I have one headed my way!

They come out quarterly Feb, May, Aug, Nov. You can view them on the passholder website anytime, but the May one has the cards inside its envelope.

Jill- I am so sorry to hear about your bad day. I am glad you made it through. Moms surely do have a hard job sometimes. Of course, it is SO worth it. I love the pictures of your girls. Brooklynn really knows how to smile for a camera. The pictures of you, Memom, and the girls is great as well.

Memom- I enjoyed your thoughts about mothers. They were so sweet and true. It is incredible that you got to see a tiger getting a check-up. I think tigers are beautiful. They are my favorite animal at the zoo. We saw "our" tigers at the zoo yesterday as a matter of fact.
