A Trail of Tears from Louisiana to WDW & Back Again! New PTR Link 8/15

So we said Goodbye to Mickey at 6:26 pm according to my post on FB. Have you guys ever seen this? I LOVE it! Just hate that I see it when I leave Disney!

We stopped at Wendy's for a quick bite to eat & we were on our way. An hour into the drive home, deja vu hits....Shelby starts crying. Oh no! I can NOT deal with this AGAIN! We pulled off into a parking lot & I dug out the tylenol & benadryl. (And according to my cousin, I gave her un-needed medication for my sanity & YES I DID!) An hour or so later, she was passed out. Oh please Lord, keep it this way! By 9 pm I had 3 sleeping kids! Whoo hoo!

But they were not the only ones exhausted, Ben & I were too! Around this time, we hit I-10 & I was so happy, but I had forgotten how long the drive was! Now before Koby goes to sleep, what is the 1st movie he puts in the dvd player? Tinkerbell! I guess he wanted to see Silvermist again! Around 11 pm, Ben was starting to swerve on the road & I was trying my hardest to stay awake so I could keep him up or drive. By this time I was already seeing double. I had been up since 5:30 that morning & it was getting harder & harder to focus. Little did I realize that Ben was having the same trouble. At 1:49 we made it to Alabama, only 2 more states to go! Thank God! My FB status update at 2:44 am was "Please God, just a few more hours, please help keep us awake." Yeah it was that bad. At 3 am we got into Mississippi & we had 111 miles to New Orleans! We were in the home stretch. But when we got to Ocean Springs, I had to take over the driving. Ben literally could not keep his eyes open anymore. I got us to the state line & pulled into the LA Welcome Area. I was seeing things in the road that was not there & it was scaring me big time. Well, Ben had a power nap & said he was good to go to get us back home. At 5:15 am we saw that wonderful Hwy 90 Boutte/Houma sign & I could not have been more happy. I just wanted us to get home SAFELY! At 5:49 am, we pulled into our driveway! Shelby was put back to sleep in her crib, the boys who slept the entire drive home was wide awake & played quietly in their room while Ben & I took a nap. We were up just four hours later unpacking the car & going through souvenirs!

Awww that sounds like a tough drive home with how exhausted you guys all were, but thankfully you made it home safe and sound!

OMgosh!! I missed that too! I have read several reports where people are obnoxious and my jaw has dropped! So sorry you had to endure!

It was very scary & I never thought I would be so happy to be home!

I have been tired before but on much shorter drives and still wanted to kiss the ground when I got home!!

Hopefully that Kidney infection will go away soon! Seems like it has hung around far too long!!

Yeah the troll was pretty bad, but she is gone so I am happy! And yes it has! It comes & goes.

It got VERY scary. I thought I saw a dog in the road, Ben thought he saw an old lady in the road. It was weird.

I always hate driving home from Disney. It's much funner going (yes, funner is a word.) Well, actually, for you, it wasn't so much fun getting to Disney because of poor Shelby not feeling good.

Thank goodness for Ben taking the power nap in order to get you home safely. We once drove 24 hours straight from Colorado to our house. I was, literally, shaking my head to keep myself awake.

I agree funner is a word! I was doing everything I could. I think I updated my Facebook like every 20 mins to keep me awake. And drinking coke & eating chocolate!

I was debating on when to start my PTR for next year, but I have a feeling as soon as this one is done I will start it!

So glad the trip home was better than the trip going to WDW. Except, scary that you two got so tired. But I'm glad you got home safely to plan your next trip

Thank you so much. I realize I did put it all out there so to speak, so everyone is entitled to their own opinion of our trip & how Ben acted/treated me. But as you can tell, we are hoping to go back next year & hopefully things will be lots different next time. Live & learn. This was our 1st solo trip to Disney & our 1st ever family vacation, so there were bound to be bumps on the road. The part that really bothered me what when the troll criticized me for being a SAHM. I love being a SAHM (most of the time ). As I told Joni, I could get my job back at the sheriff's office in a heartbeat, but I choose not to work. Yes, money is tight, but I am not working. I would miss out too much on Shelby's life, my boys life & I refuse to work just to pay for daycare.

On another note, I went to the dr today finally. The dr is a joke, but long story short, I do have an infection. I am on Cipro for the infection & Ultram for pain. So as I am typing this, I am high as a kite I will try to post the souvies as soon as I can see straight!

Live and learn is right. Vacations are stressful in and of themselves, so we have to learn HOW to vacation and learn how to keep each member of our party rested and happy. There are bound to be conflicts from time to time. But I'm with you, I hope that the next vacation will be smooth sailing!

And no one should ever be criticized for being a SAHM. I wish that I were a SAHM! I had the opportunity when my son was born, but I decided to go back to work and now I regret not being at home with my little guy while he was growing up.

Daycare is a wonderful thing as it helps our children learn to be social and get along with others and all of that stuff, but at the same time, being at home with mom and bonding is so very special, too. I think it is to each their own and no one should have to defend themselves on these boards.

Well, I'm glad to know that you are being treated and hopefully you can begin to feel better soon! Had to LOL at your description of being "high as a kite".
