It seems odd to me that you have been able to get into DCA for free and dine at some of the places. Why would you pay $75? Because more places you can pay for food are going to be open?

Way more food options (there have been very few), way more of the park open, seeing characters (from a distance), photo ops (most people here don’t care but lots of people do).

It’s definitely not going to appeal to everyone, but with capacity so limited, it doesn’t need to.

My BFF and I were already planning to be there mid-April weekend. So we'll probably pay for this (depending on whether or not Legacy members can buy for others, we may go that route to make sure we'll get in - if we can't get in, we'll probably cancel). But we won't have a car, so the inclusion of parking is kind of a bummer for us. That's $25 EACH we shouldn't have to pay.

The event is open to everyone. You don’t have to be a legacy member to purchase tickets.

They have not announced that. Supposedly if you “keep an eye” on the Legacy Passholder FB page on March 4, you’ll be one of the “first to know” the sale time. But of course it will just go all over social media as soon as it’s announced anywhere...

The wording is a bit vague but I’m betting that this will morph into a form of contactless payment for food in the parks. I can see how that might be useful for families — give each kiddo a Disney Dining Card for snacks and food only.

Almost every Disney event has these same complaints. The Halloween Trick or Treat had free parking, and if you were bringing your 3yo, you paid for parking for them.

For me, this is a positive, and yes I will be going, probably twice. And I am very happy to be helping Cast Members get back to work. They brought a couple hundred back to work Monday to start working on this. And a couple more thousand are expected in the next week or so. And I stay at a hotel, so no parking needed, just like the Halloween events, and other after hours events.

It seems like such a cute idea! But... $75 that seems a bit steep. I can see if they were offering a few shows or fireworks or something. But just to walk around and spend more money?? Even with the $25 “gift card” it’s too much. In my opinion you would have to be super desperate for something to do to pay for this, it’s just too much $$$ for nothing.

I find this interesting. I get that it seems steep, but to be honest, we don't know exactly what we are going to get. We will have some sort of photo ops (likely from a distance) with characters. Disney generally does events well. I never expected the Disney event to be as cheap as Knott's. I attended Knott's Merry Farm event in November, and was quite disappointed. I had bought a second set of tickets for it, and had planned on giving them away since my daughters and I really didn't enjoy. I was told I was expecting Disney quality at a Knott's price. For Disney, I was expecting a price tag of $100, with a $40 gift card. To me, this is better since for $100, I can have $50 in gift cards, and the second $25 can be alcohol!

As for the parking, it will be in the Mickey and Friends, which gives the advantage of easier entry compared to coming from Simba when you have a mix of people coming for both the event and just to visit DTD. This way, people coming for the event will have their own security gate into DTD.

I am so excited to see cast members heading back to work.

I’ve been to Wdw too many times to count, my husband owned an airport 15 minutes from Wdw so we would go weekly and sleep at WL at least once a week. I got married 10 years ago in Disney world. Cruised about 20 times. I’ve been to DL about 25 times. Ok I realize I have a problem. Lol!!!
We’ve been to all the parties and events. I’m super aware of how Disney operates and how amazing there events can be. I also know how expensive Disney is. But I still think this is a bit much. They aren’t opening any rides, no shows, just stores and restaurants. I agree it’s fun to go but I think they could have charged a $25 admission fee and be done with it. Or $50 and a $25 back. They would still make money. Because when they give you $25 it’s only costing them about $3. But still I’d be ok with that. Ive never rented a car in DL so free parking is no incentive. Maybe this is just for locals who will drive anyways.
I don’t know I’m just bummed that the parks are operating like this. But we all are bummed. I think the sing alongs on abc were super fun and Disney should do more events like that. This just seems a little greedy. Just my opinion. But I totally get why people would go!!

Back in Nov when we were discussing this, we were actually predicting a price of $100. I think they could have even done a $125 with $50 and a popcorn bucket or sipper cup and been sold out. But that would have been too much food per person. I do with they had done a child's price, but events have always been a single price for everyone.

I believe if you give an alternative choice to parking...eg. parking or commerative pin or popcorn bucket, that would put a lot of additional muscle with minimal changes to the published fare

I was on the app under Touch of Disney, and there is a link to dining... and in dining there are menus, and it appears it is the menus for the event... because award wieners has corn dogs ! Yes, I am excited about a real Disney corndog.... I am also excited that it looks like the cozy cones will be open, with some menu changes it appears, but the popcorn cone will be open and they list the flavors... So we can get the dill pickle popcone! Eeek... I wont even whine about the price anymore... I am just hoping we can snag 2 tickets while we are in town.

I figure I have already spent $29.66 on two corn dogs, dill pickle popcorn and a doc’s grape tonic already, of our $50 special gift cards...

There's a major misunderstanding here in how the parking inclusion works. They're not including a $25 parking fee in the $75.

If they didn't include parking, the face value of the ticket would likely be $60 or $65, not $50. They know that people will be riding together, and that some of the parking cost will be shared.

The decision to include parking is more often than not an incentive/disincentive situation. For example, if they know the parks will be busy, they can charge separately for parking to encourage people to carpool.

In this case, they have plenty of parking available, so they can include parking, which also helps encourage people to show up. (Especially if they have a good sense that they can sell out the event at $75.)

Also, by having people attending park in Mickey and Friends (not open to others) they will have a separate gate for screening (by ESPN zone) and be able to not have to worry about capacity issue....

Award Weiners has had corn dogs since BVS has been open and allowed food. It was all they were serving.

We also did Knott's Merry Farm in November. It was a fun day, but we did not care to repeat it. I knew that it would not be Disney quality and was prepared not to expect that. Our concern was the obvious lack of safety compliance that day (guests and employees), e.g. guests clearly skirting the rules and employees turning a blind eye, tables not cleaned (wiped, but not cleaned -- bits of food stuck to the tablecloths, etc.). We cleaned our own tables and looked after our own safety, but after being accustomed to the safety standards in DTD, it was disappointing.
And I, too, am very glad to see CMs returning to work.
