A Tip re: Post Office at Castaway Cay

It just occurred to me after reading someone else's post that when we were last at CC, the post office didn't have ANY change. If you're going to bring cash for your postage, you might want to consider bringing small bills.

BD, they don't take american stamps though. You need to buy theirs to mail from Castaway Cay.

When I was there in August of 2002 I bought the stamps on the Island because they have a picture of the ship. I also bought extra so that when I put the photos in a book I could put one of them.

I cannot understand how the Post Office on Castaway Cay cannot operate with having change available. When I went on the Wonder and went in to purchase stamps I was told that they were waiting for change from the ship? It was getting to be time to be back on board so I just told them to keep my change when a cast member from the Wonder wanted to purchase stamps and of course they had no change for him either. I told them to use my credit balance to pay for his stamps!

They did not have a lot of change when I bought my stamps, but I did get change (I did use singles, though, to buy what I wanted).

What happens is that people tend to bring large bills. They're not a bank, they're a small working post office. Eventually, they can no longer make change of the large bills that people give them.

I've helped some folks out when they only had large bills and wanted to mail something. Just bring a bunch of singles and you should be okay.

CC post office sells only 2 varieties of post cards, which we have purchased often....

On our most recent cruise, I noticed that Mickeys Mates sells a few nicer CC postcards....You could purchase a few postcards in Mickeys Mates, and take them to post office for mailing...

I'm thinking I am going to find out how to set up my own post office on CC. The weather turned mighty cold here this week, and I don't need much of an excuse to go tropical for awhile...
