A Ten Day Ride on A Magic Camel - Almost Finished Trip Report

So critter elixir is all one needs to cure flat feet?!?!?

And here I am sending all my patients to the orthopedic doctor, then to the orthotist, and making them wear inserts in their shoes. And all I needed to do was give them some critter elixir!

Oh how I wish!

I'm trying to get the camera covered up before the big Splash.

MeMom u have perfect timing so ur whole face is never shown when they snap a picture! Do you plan it that way?:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I really hope all works out and you get your mini trip with Brooklynn. I wish I was closer and I could tag along and be the second adult. What about your future DIL? Could she go with you? I'm sure Kay will find a way, us women always do.

Okay a confession, I don't really like the drop on Splash Mounain. I do go on it for DS. I really enjoy the ride itself, the song but not that drop. I even tried to ride it twice last time in a row but, still scared. I think that is part of the fun for DS, getting to tease me. I regret not getting the ride photo, I forgot to go back because I didn't have my wallet with me on the ride. :sad1:

Now, Big Thunder Mountain I love!!!

Brooklynn is so precious sleeping in her stroller. She looks so peacefull. She managed to get comfortable, even if it meant sideways. Too cute.

Looks like you do have a full plate at school, I can't imagine how you could keep up. :teacher: have it hard, I had no idea. :flower3:

Actually, Trent and Kristi seem to be taking a break from each other right now. There were some issues that they weren't seeing eye to eye on, so they're taking some time apart, at least for now. That has changed the dynamics of our Thanksgiving trip, and instead of Kristi, Trent's buddy, Jarvis, is coming along. He's very excited about the trip, as he has not been to Disney World in a long time. Both of them are especially excited about the food!

I really hope Kay can go in March, because she needs a break from many of the stresses in her life, too. The original trip was to be she and her grandson and me and Brooklynn, but her grandson now lives out in Colorado, and he won't be going after all. I think it might be making her feel a little sad that she won't have her grandson with her, so we may be altering that trip, too.

It may end up that I just do something else with Brooklynn - just let her come up here and do some things for a few days by herself with me and the boys, and then Kay and I take an adult trip to WDW. That way Kay won't feel sad, Brooklynn doesn't care what she's doing anyway, because she's going to be spoiled with me wherever she is, and John would be happier. He's not thrilled about the idea of me taking her to Disney World. He's doing the 'what if...?' stuff, but what he might not recall is that he is half of a team raising one child so far, and I raised three alone, and I never lost any of them. I'm not sure why he's so fearful, because I seem to have kept up with several hundred kids, probably thousands over the years at schools and camps, and yet he doesn't trust me to watch the one kid I love most in this world.

Oh well, if we do it that way - Kay will have fun, we'll both get a break, Brooklynn and I can go to the Family Fun Center up here, which will be new to her, John will be happy, etc. If we do that, I have to get Jill to promise that we can take another Christmas girls' trip :santa: like we did last year. Or if AvaGarrett is a Garrett, then a girls and baby trip.

We'll see what happens with all of that in time. Jill is fine with whatever I decide is best. She knows that Brooklynn will have fun with me and her uncles if she comes up here, and she could see her little cousins, too, or she's fine with me taking her to Disney World. After all, she is one of the kids I managed not to lose.

Hey Sweet lady!!!! Love the Splash Mountain pics---that is one of my all-time favorite rides!!! I wanted to post this awhile back but forgot to----the update with the Terror at the Barnstormer made me laugh so hard!!! Not only did I laugh at the play-by-play horrified pictures of Brooklyn through the ride (thinking of them again just made me laugh again!), and then the priceless commentary of the doting grandmother (reminded me all too much of the reaction my own mother would have had), but the tops was the recount of the story of how your father jumped out and scared you when you were a child------I was eating lunch when I was reading it, and my "snort-laugh" almost caused me to choke!!! I couldn't stop laughing---the visual your story created just cracked me up!!!! Thanks for giving me so much laughter out of one update!!!! You are the best!

I wish to not be responsible for your untimely death on top of the torment we have already caused to Brooklynn.

Please, in the future, swallow before reading. :)

By the way, was anybody around to hear the snort-laugh? Dontcha just hate it when you do that in front of people?!?!?!?:rotfl:

Thanks for the ride down my favorite mountain! I love that ride. Disney Imagineering at its finest.

It's a good one.
Everybody's got a laughing place, a laughing place, to go-ho-ho!

I saw Song of the South as a kid, and I'd like to see it again, but it's put away forever, I guess. There are foreign copies, but they say they don't play right on American DVDs or tape players or whatever.

Yep, so put those doctors on warning - if word gets out, their jobs are toast!

Thanks for letting me tag along in the log, MeMom!!! I have been doing my best Brer Rabbit voice (in my head) all day long!

Good thing it was in your head. I'm pretty sure people who were to hear you singing
We're visiting our laughing place, Yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk!
might think you were a little, let's say...psycho!

Was it yesterday you stayed home or today? I got all lost over there in your trip binder drama, so I don't remember if you were out yesterday or today.

Yay! I love Splash Mountain!

Sing along, then!

Honey and rainbows on our way,
We laugh because our work is play.
Boy are we in luck!
We're visiting our laughing place,

(all the crazies join in now)
Yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk!

*********************************************

So we were done with bears and 'brers' and briars.

IMG_3140.jpg

The crowds were looking like this:

IMG_3222.jpg

so we decided it was time for us to get out of there.

A little Main Street entertainment on the way out.

IMG_3223.jpg

IMG_3224.jpg

They were sort of letting people know just what was going down in Magical Kingdom on that very hot, crowded day.

IMG_3225.jpg

We headed for Disney transportation to take us away.

We didn't take this:

IMG_3228.jpg

Doesn't that just like the little Matchbox version of the Disney bus that you play with. It looks like you could just reach right down there and pick it up and start playing with it.
Vroom, vroom, screech!
But you can't.
It's a real bus.
A big one.
It's an optical ill-ooooo-zion!

Didn't take a boat, either.

IMG_3232.jpg

We took the monorail.

IMG_3233.jpg

We went to this beautiful place.

IMG_3236.jpg

IMG_3238.jpg

IMG_3239.jpg

This is a grand and elegant and regal-ish place.

We don't look like we really belong here, but we like to visit.

IMG_3240.jpg

I'm pretty sure we give off some kind of green glow that clearly announces that we are visitors when we wander around in such a magnificent place in our five dollar Walmart shorts.

I took a picture of the pretty doors on the potties.

IMG_3242.jpg

Yeah, that's a pretty good sign I didn't really belong there.

IMG_3245.jpg

Such a pretty place.

IMG_3247.jpg

Next up, we eat.

Wow, I am definitely making it a point to visit the GF when we are there!

Your picture of the bathroom made me laugh, because that is something that my dad would do. He was fond of stopping in every bathroom in the World Showcase just to note the difference in architecture in each one.

The crowds, my goodness. :scared1: Aside from the heat, that's another reason we couldn't go in the summer. We are used to crowds, but not -that- kind of crowd. You guys seem to be very good at hitting places before it gets really bad, though.

Oh, and I hope that you get to go in March! Even if you don't, I will still have lots of pictures to show you, both of the parks and of Pop Century, to remind you of where you'll be in a few months.

Whoa...the crowds were huge!!! The GF lobby is so pretty, and it is my dream to stay there on day (waaaaaaaaaaaay off in the future).

Brooklynn looked cute sleeping in her stroller!

I just caught up!!!

I love all the pictures.
I could make a really long shopping list just from looking at your photos.

Brooklynn with Tigger, Darby, and Pooh is just adorable.:goodvibes

Poor Brooklynn on the Barnstormer though. Jacob was much older on his first roller coaster - BTMRR and he had his head down the whole time. Now BTMRR is his favorite, and he will ride anything.

Your Splash Mountain pics reminded me of my first (and last) ride on that...I was about 5 and my mother told me that I wouldn't get wet on the ride...:lmao: I remember being upset and according to her I was quite vocal about it when we got off...

Okay, so insert foot in mouth here. Sorry to hear Trent & Kristi are on a break. I feel so bad to have mentioned it. :upsidedow

Brooklynn will love anything you do with her. I know you couldn't possibly loose her.
I think John is just being protective of his precious girl. Maybe he would miss her too much?

The bus does look like the toy.

The GF looks very posh, I love the floral arrangement. Are there birds in that huge birdcage? How cool. I think we are going to eat at 1900 Park Fare next year. We all deserve a little fancy in our lives & a little WalMart too!! :)

I am so glad to see that picture of critter elixer! It's been a long running joke between DBFF and I since I have flat feet. Whenever we ride we have to shout out "Critter Elixer!!"...and "Slippin' Falls!!" We are odd girls....(speaking of which, is it weird that I'm Dising while watching Sweeny Todd?? I just realized what an odd combo I've got going on...hmmm?)

Brooklyn looks like a sleepy little angel in her stroller! So cute! As for the Grand Floridian it is so gorgeous! I can't wait to see it again, and decked out in all it's holiday glory! But alas I doubt I'll ever stay there....I have champagne taste and a beer budget! :)

ok caught up again.

great updates and pics.

good for Jill bringing her on Barnstormer. You never know till you try.

Ooh the crowds look crazy.

I work at it. I hate pictures of myself, and since the Hidden MeMom thing kind of just happened naturally, it's kind of fun to play with that idea a little.

Get your camera ready, because March is looking bleak for us.

Yeah, the crowds that day did get a little much. To us, getting up early is very worth it to have a crowd-free, line-free Fantasyland and then be leaving the park, very satisfied with what we've done, against the flow of incoming heavy traffic.

okay....the ride looked fun, but i do have to admit that this looks even more fun after my full day in court today! ;)

As soon as I finish here, I'm headed to your report to see how calendar making with Luke went. I don't guess you got to go to bed early since you were babysitting.

Whoa...the crowds were huge!!! The GF lobby is so pretty, and it is my dream to stay there on day (waaaaaaaaaaaay off in the future).

Yes, that day and then one evening during our December trip last year are the most crowded we've ever seen in the parks. We can handle crowded, but bumper to bumper where you're just taking half-steps to move - that's when we get out pretty quickly.

I think GFwould be great for honeymoons and anniversaries and special occasions, though. I am looking forward to seeing all of the beautiful Christmas decor in a couple of weeks.

:rotfl: I always feel like I stick out like a sore thumb also when I visit super fancy places like the GF!

Me, too, but I'm still going to visit to get my pictures. ;)

I know Brooklynn will, too, when she's tall enough.

I kind of use my pictures as a replacement for my actual purchases a lot of times. I see something I want, but can't afford, and I photograph it. Then, I have all the way until the next trip to think about whether I want to spend the money or not. This trip, I'll probably be getting a few Christmas decorations.

Your Splash Mountain pics reminded me of my first (and last) ride on that...I was about 5 and my mother told me that I wouldn't get wet on the ride...:lmao: I remember being upset and according to her I was quite vocal about it when we got off...

Do you have a picture of your ride? Was your mom laughing at you like we were laughing at Brooklynn?

Okay, so insert foot in mouth here. Sorry to hear Trent & Kristi are on a break. I feel so bad to have mentioned it. :upsidedow

No problem. They are both beautiful, smart, sweet young people. They have to deal with everyday stresses of school and work, and sometimes it's a little overwhelming. If they are meant to be together, they'll be together, but it is good for them to date other people before they make lifelong decisions. Trent is 24 and Kristi is younger, so they have time to date lots of people and make the right decisions for their futures.

Brooklynn would be fine just coming up here and staying a few days. We have a Family Fun Center near us, and she would love to play at that and eat pizza. I could have some of my teacher friends meet us there with their kids/grandkids, and we'd all have a good time.

As far as the trip, I know I will be dying to go in the spring, but I would be smarter to either not spend the money at all or to spend the money ripping up some flooring and putting in new stuff. What I have is far beyond worn. Also, the whole interior needs to be painted, so I could spend the time and the money that week to fix the inside of the house up and make it look so much nicer. That would not be nearly as fun as a trip, of course, but we will have lots of excitement in April with the arrival of the new baby, and then I could look forward to the trip with Jill at Christmas. I really don't like going without her, anyway, but again, I know I'm going to be craving a Disney fix and a fun break from school by March.

As always, I'll just straddle the fence until something pushes me to one side or the other. The room is booked and deposit is paid, so there's no hurry on that part. The flights just got released, and if they had been great prices or horrible prices, that might have been the decision maker, but they were neither. They're good going down and bad coming back, so it evens out. Since that was no help, I'm still walking around up here on this fence! :)

The thought of newly-painted walls and a clean new floor is awfully tempting, of course, but so is sitting at the Pop kiddie pool watching Brooklynn splash around. I'm a tortured soul! :rotfl: Why couldn't I just simply be a rich person who could do it all?!?!? ;)

I'd like to stay there for a night or two, just to say I have, but that's really more my 'visiting' taste than my 'staying at' taste. I think I'd feel much more at home and comfortable at Wilderness Lodge, and there's no doubt that I want to stay at Animal Kingdom and Polynesian, as well, sometime. The Contemporary doesn't thrill me as far as the theme, but it would be super-cool to stay there and see the Magic Kingdom out the window! Jill and I would really just like to stay in them all, eventually, just so we can know the firsthand experience.

ok caught up again.

Hey, Scott! Glad you enjoyed the pictures of the frightened toddler!

The crowd picture is definitely a testament to why people who don't have to work around school calendars feel so fortunate to be able to go in the off-times.

None of the pictures are showing up this morning :(.

I stayed home with both my sick kids on Monday -- I went to work yesterday -- today it is our own clipboard brigade coming through. Yick.

I'll just keep singing Brer Rabbit songs in my head -- although if I did it out loud it might break the monotony for the clipboarders. :lmao:

That's weird, because they were showing up before. I'm not sure how all that bandwidth stuff is determined, but I've seen them come and go with other people, too, so I guess it's pretty common. Hopefully, they'll be back soon.

Oh , methinks the clipboard people would not be appreciative of Brer Rabbit songs. They're usually not the fun type.

Thanks for the GF pictures!!!!! I'm on cloud nine right now---that is by far my dream resort to stay at......will see if THAT ever happens!!!! But I'm with you, I just like to "pretend" I could stay there everytime we visit it!!!! I'm so glad you took a picture of the bathrooms---I think their potties are SO pretty!!!

BTW--Luckily, no one was around to hear my "snort laugh/choke" while reading your story of the Barnstormer!!! I'm sure they would have made MUCH fun of me!!!!

They all show up for me and a fun bunch of pictures they are.

:thumbsup2

Even a MeMom picture!

I will have to look for a picture of that trip next time I go home...I'm pretty sure my mom was laughing at me...I know my aunt was when I got off dripping wet and sputtering, she still snorts when reminded of that ride...
