Poor, poor little Brooklynn. One can absolutely see the terror on her little face.
It cracks me up that Jill is laughing so much during the ride!
My sister in law blacked out on Snow White's Scary Adventures (I think that's what it's called) when she was little. This will be her first time back to Disney World since then. She's excited to conquer her fear. My brother (her hubby) keeps saying he can't wait for her to go on the ride and see just how not-scary it is!
Somebody blacking out is not really anything to laugh at, but it is kinda funny when you think
why she did it! She'll probably have a good laugh at herself when she finds out how not scary it really is.
Glad to hear you had a nice visit with Brooklyn. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
By the way, I was thinking about Drew today. How is he? When is he able to go visit the ENT? Seems like it should be soon. I'm anxious to hear if the doctors think they can restore some of his hearing. It's just the one ear right?
We did have fun together. I took her a new CD for the car, so maybe Jill will get a break from listening to Castle Party for a little while.
I guess we'll be going to the ENT doctor sometime after this trip. I think he's getting used to the feeling of having water in his ear now. I haven't even gotten around to making an appointment yet. They said six weeks, and I've just been swamped since then and haven't thought about it at the right times.
No I'm the guy they don't like because I make them do presentations.
Whenever I had/have to do presentations, I try to have video or some hands-on thing people can look at instead of just staring at me. Several of my college classes were pretty much: meet, assign projects, do/listen to projects, and get an A. I would always have materials for them to read, something for them to eat, a video for them to watch - anything so that the attention would be focused somewhere other than me.
I didn't realize you 'mericans understood the metric system.
I understand the metric system about like Jethro Bodine (Beverly Hillbillies) understood his cipherin and guzzintas.
4 centimeters + 4 centimeters = 8 centimeters
See, I've got that part.
The guzzintas are a little harder, though.
I know that 2 guzzinta 6 three times.
But I'm not as good with how many centimeters guzzinta meters and such.
How centimeters and inches, meters and yards, etc. line up, I have a little more trouble with.
Thank you! I think it is a fine choice, too. I keep thinking of all the things I want to make sure we do while staying there -- like eating ice cream at Beaches and Cream!
My binder does not have a new cover...yet...but the insides are all fixed (new resort map, new reservation information, etc.)
Glad you had fun with Brooklyn this weekend.
I don't blame Brooklyn -- I personally hate the Barnstormer -- everyone in my family loves it, but me. The last time I rode it, I bypassed the safety bar and clutched the metal lip at the very front of the car. I clutched it so hard, I made my thumb bleed.
Couldn't help but laugh at Jill's laughing though!
You are so lucky to be staying at Beach Club. That's movin' on up!
Yeah, I was laughing at Jill as much as I was laughing at Brooklynn, yet I felt bad the whole time. She got a lotta lovin' after surviving that ride!
Oh poor Brooklynn! She does look terrified! But you never know how they will react to rides! Hannah begged to ride on the tilt-a-whirl this summer...I wasn't so sure about it, but said yes and Hannah loved it. Me on the other hand...I thought I was going to be

!
I can't understand why she was able to go on that before she anywhere near big enough for Soarin', which is so much milder. I look forward to her getting to ride Soarin' when that day comes!
Poor little Brooklynn, she really didn't like that ride.

I think the fruit stand is a much better idea. She was brave to try it though, maybe in a few years she will be ready. Jill and Brooklynn's tees looked so patriotic. MeMom where's your Fourth of july tee pic? Oh yeah, it's hidden.
You are so nice to go help out Jill and babysit with Brooklynn. I know it is your pleasure. Glad to hear they got thier toy purchases.
I was shopping after work and Lexi keeps adding to her list everytime we go out. We did see a Hanna Montana & HSM hot chocolate mug set. I will have to go back when she isn't with me. I love secret shopping. My trunk is full of presents, that I have to hide somewhere. Ho!Ho!Ho!
My patriotic shirt was the same as Jill's. We did the twinsies thing that day. Only mine is like three times bigger. Just look at hers, stick a medium-sized elephant in it, and you've pretty much got it.
They did have good luck with their purchases - most being on sale.
Drew is nuts about hot chocolate, so on one of my trips I brought him back a Haunted Mansion mug. He drinks hot chocolate in it every day in the winter.
awww! That poor sweet girl! What a rotten family she must have!
I bet by next year she'll be loving it and ready for RockNRoller Coaster!
It reminds me of a situation I have held against my mother forever!
When I was about 4 years-old, we were visiting family up near Ottawa and went to this place called "Story Book Park". They had all of these little exhibits set up throughout a park showcasing different fairy tales. My loving mother guided me up to this cute little gingerbread cottage...I don't think I knew at the time that this story included a child-eating witch!

On the cottage there was this innocent looking button and my mum convinced me to press it. As soon as I did, this maniacal, evil, cackling, horrible witch's laugh sounded and I ran for my life!!

my dad was waiting behind us with the camera and we have a lovely photo of me running away in sheer terror! To this day I don't enjoy the story of Hansel and Gretal...and I bring it up to my mum every chance I get! Actually, I wish I knew where that photo was...I should put it next to my mum's bed when I want something from her!
Yep, a rotten family. Sounds like you had one equally as tormenting.
I come from the same. Allow me to reminisce:
I remember once when I was about five, and I was at a neighbor's house. My parents called to have the people send me home (just next door), and my dad ran out from between the houses screaming to scare me. As a young man, I'm sure he thought that was hilariously funny. As a five year old, I thought it was a nightmare come to life. I screamed, ran into the house, got under my bed, and didn't come out for quite some time. They tried convincing me it was just my dad, but I knew better. The screaming maniac that came out of the darkness could
not possibly be my kind, loving, thoughtful father - it had to be the 1960's version of Scream or Michael Myers or Freddy Kruger or Bigfoot or whatever dangerous characters are famous/infamous for scaring the beejeezies out of people these days.
Note that I do not watch horror movies of any kind, so all that I know of them is what I've heard from my own kids, their friends, and kids at school. My school kids always think it's weird when they ask me if I have seen a certain movie and I tell them I do not watch horror movies. I truthfully don't think third-graders should be watching them, either, but they most assuredly do!
I know! Bad Jill!
i want to meet them together! i hope i see them together this-coming trip. i hear that they're sometimes together at
MVMCP,
i have to admit to you that i just spent the last 5 minutes wiping tears from my eyes from laughter while looking at little brooklynn on barnstormer. i feel bad for laughing, but I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF. that little face!!!!!! she's such a doll. poor little thing! my dad did the same thing with us and i'm glad he did because now i'm not afraid to ride anything (that is, until they invent a rollercoaster involving birds!). hopefully she will come to realize it's all fun as she gets older.
Brooklynn got her picture made with the Halloween Mickey and Minnie together, too, and they are on the Photopass thing. Hopefully, we will see those on this report in time.
We were the same way - laughing, yet feeling sorry for her all at once. Hopefully, she is not traumatized for life.
I, however, am.
aww, poor little brookie... she'll probably never want to ride that ever again in her life. years from now, her children will want to go on and she'll suggest to her little one let's go take a picture with goofy instead.
Guess what! My super wonderful boyfriend surprised me with a digital camera of my very own, and its pink my fav color! Now whenever we finally make it to disney i can try to snap as many pictures as you MeMom. Not to mention taking a picture of a disney snowman that i'll make for you.
Yes, I'd love to see some northern winter pictures. Snow-covered trees are beautiful!
And a Disney snowman? Well, no doubt we will all want to see that!
Oh poor Brooklynn! I am sure that she'll want to ride it again sometime, and at least she tried it. I sure as heck wouldn't have wanted to at that age, so she's pretty brave!
I'm glad that Jill and John got some good stuff. I need to start my shopping! I know what I'm getting my boyfriend, and that's a huuuuuge accomplishment because he does not give any ideas! He likes to be surprised. Well we have been dating for a little over 2.5 years and I still have a hard time finding something to "surprise" him. He has the same problem with me, though, so it evens out.
I went out shopping with his older sister today, though, and we walked by the Rainforest Cafe. For some reason, the smell just outside there reminds me of Disney. I think it's the way that the water and the mist smells. I don't know. But I love it. Makes me want to go there every day and just sit there and smell it.
We have a Rainforest here, too, and whenever we go to Opry Mills, we must walk through the gift shop and picture ourselves at the one at Animal Kingdom. Brooklynn is a little afraid of the hippo out front that makes the grunting noise. She won't get too close.
***************************************
So, we made it through Barnstormer alive and laughing, and everyone gave Brooklynn lots of loving reassurance.
By the looks of this, Goofy didn't fare too well, though.
Brooklynn was fine, but she does not, at this point, desire to ride the airplane rollercoaster again. She will in time, but not yet.
Now, on to happier moments.
A pretty flower.
Directions.
More pretty flowers.
Working diligently to put parts on a Potato Head.
I think that is just a cute little picture of her.
On to Minnie's house.
Since I've shown pictures of the normal stuff in Minnie's house, I went a little more off the beaten path this time and just got the little side stuff. The next few are a bunch of knicknacks, a plate collection, and such that sit in her display case.
I like how this one shows through to the kitchen.
Minnie is apparently an author, as this book shows.
That's it for now. I've got a lot of schoolwork to finish before tomorrow morning. The clipboard brigade is coming, and things are always tense when they're there.
If I ever lose my job, I've decided I'm going to go to work in a factory that makes clipboards, as I know for a fact there is a great and ever-growing need for them in the field of education.
I am curious to see what changes in education are on the horizon under an Obama presidency. I hope he has some more realistic people working for him who are truly listening to the teachers.
