A story of renewed hope & the power of Dis

Great update. Sounds like you had a fabulous time with Fred. Looking forward to more. Glad you liked the necklace. :thumbsup2

we did have a great time..more pics coming up :thumbsup2 your TR and the necklace reminded me that SOMEWHERE in this house I have a silver and tourquise ( sp? ) watch that I purchased from a Shinnecock Indian tribe on Long Island many many years ago...so many moves...:sad2: I am on a quest to find it now

Food looked yummy.......so lucky to spend thanksgiving in the world!

It was delicious Trish, but I am going to cook around Christmas even though we have dinner reservations Christmas night...more later ....but left overs were really really missed

I had gone to Mickey's Backyard B-B-Q a few years ago It was great then but it was even more wonderful this time ! Not sure if it was because it was Thanksgiving but it wasn't like last time with just Mickey and Minnie hosting

The big surprise for all BBQ Guests ?????....

There were a group of characters on hand and it was like a big hoe-down-dance party !! This was NOT your typical meet & greet: In attendance were: M & M, Goofy, Big Al, a country bear I can't remember his name, Donald, Chip and Dale, and :cheer2: Pluto !!

They danced with all of us, ( Minnie got Fred up on the dance floor something I always have a problem with :rotfl:, I " disappeared" in a Pluto canine big hug, and before I knew it I was " Boot-Scootin' Boogy " in the arms of a chipmunk :rotfl2:

They sat in the audience when the " Rhinestone Cowboy" did his roping tricks, they were there throughout the night ( about 2 hours) , then they met outside the Fort Pavilion for one on one pictures

Great fun, a well prepared all you can eat buffet feast, country group entertainers, and the cowboy all in all worth every penny ! ( $120. for both of us ) we had a lot of fun, we really needed this :goodvibes

More pictures next post....

To the tune of " Chicken Dance"........" Donald, shake a tail feather :rotfl: you too Fred

and then it was over..:sad1: and WTH it's only about 7 pm !! now what ????? stay tuned ..:)

Hi Ruthie!

Oh my goodness! The Backyard BBQ looks like a PERFECT Thanksgiving choice! I can't believe all the characters and fun. Both of you look like you had a blast! I am going to remember this little report in case we are ever lucky enough to be at WDW this time of year - I don't know that many people know that this is a good T-day location. I would choose it over a LOT of other places for this day based on the experience you had. :thumbsup2 I'm so glad you had fun! :woohoo:

As you could see it was a BLAST !! Roni personally I think EVERYTHING at Fort Wilderness is a hidden gem There are a tremendous amount of things to do and so much of it free....shhhh don't tell everyone :ssst:

I've been going to FW for over 30 years Our first and very favorite resort I would recommend Thanksgiving there to anyone and I would join you :goodvibes

Hi, sorry I'm late. ;)

Okay, so I am a mush ball lately. Lots going on here, but sufficient to say I am approaching 51, and ah.... mid life is upon me. Yes, I have a point... I teared up when I saw the photo of you with Pluto on one side & Fred on the other.

The resort sound amazing. I would have an issue with no bath. (even though I feel the need to deep clean them myself.).

I'm so happy Chef Mickeys was a hit & Mickeys BBQ! I have never seen personal pictures of the Mickeys BBQ. That looks awesome! I think M would lvoe it.

Sorry, I have been MIA. Still need to post my pic of Mark's anniversary gift. lol I'll get to it....eventually.

Dee

You know, I have always been intrigued with FW. They have those really cool cabins there, right? I love it! Isn't that where Chip 'n' Dale host some kind of marshmallow roast as well? We definitely need to check it out!

If we ever manage a WDW Thanksgiving trip, I will totally let you know! :thumbsup2

I'm back and all caught up!

So happy for you that Fred finally made it home! The hotel looks wonderful. It would be a great choice if I ever decided to stay off site.

I am so jealous that you got both Big Al and Pluto at the BYBB!! Big Al is pretty close to Pluto as a favorite of mine and as far as I can remember I've never met him. I would have been in heaven to meet those two!! Oh and the food and entertainment looked great too.

I kind of skimmed over the comments so someone may have already posted this. The second Country Bear is Wendell. He sings "Mama Don't Whip Little Buford" along with Henry who is the MC bear.

Busy Busy weekend I feel like I was passing myself on the road as I managed to work 32 hours between Friday night and this morning :cheer2: Feeling very blessed to start climbing out of the financial hole around here and thrilled that I was able to do it physically like I used to before the accident...alright I had some help in the last shift from Absorbine Jr & Bayers Back & Body I was a walking medicine cabinet but thank you God the opportunity was there for me AND I did it ! :woohoo:

Of course the house looks like crap-o-la and this morning Maxine got all Tangled Maximus on me snorting & stamping, spoiled witch I fed her, she didn't miss a meal, she's just a big ole brat :snooty:

So please tune in tomorrow when I respond to your posts, tell you all about what we did/where we went the night when we finished the BBQ, and then plenty of pictures from the next morning and our anniversary breakfast at Chef Mickeys Have a great day I am going to bed :cloud9:

Wow you are definitely working some hours. When we get together during the marathon weekend we have to get over to the Fort. You have to show me everything that I am missing. It has been so long since I have been there.

I could have sworn that I commented on the Backyard BBQ! It looks like so much fun and I'm so glad the two of you were able to spend some time together!

Ruthie, we are back from our trip, and I just caught up on your thread. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pictures at Mickey's Backyard BBQ. These pics gave me the biggest grin ever!

OMG those were so funny :rotfl2::rotfl2: Have to send the link to my DD.
