Does anyone here have, or know someone who has the Montel Williams "Living Well HealthMaster" juicer? I don't usually get sucked into infomercials, but this one caught my eye.

I have searched various blogs and have yet to find any negative comments except one who had an issue with shipping. Apparantly the juicer was itself pulverized when shipped. M.W's company quickly replaced it.

I'd like to hear opinions from my Dis-family before deciding if I want to spend $200 on this product.

TIA!

Here's a clue you are barking up the wrong tree....

"living well"

and

"healthmaster"

No info on that one. But Jack LaLane has had his for years and I have heard good things about it.

I've looked into that one too, Denise. What caught my eye on the HealthMaster was that there is no pulp left to deal with. It also makes frozen sorbets and hot soups. There is virtually no prep - just throw the fruits or veggies in as they are & the machine does the rest.

I was told that Montel Williams paid researchers to develop this machine after he was diagnosed with M.S. I know he's "hawking his wears", but in an interview that was not an infomercial, he claims that by consuming more fruits and veggies in a way that's convenient and palpable for him, he is staying off the progression of the disease. Having once faced the possibility of having M.S. myself (thank God those tests turned out negative), and beginning to suffer the effects of diabetes, I need to do some serious life-style changes. If this product can make my life easier by incorporating more fruits and veggies in my diet -without all the tedious preparation - I may consider spending the $$$.

Very funny, Pete!! :lmao:

Deb, I used to "juice" a couple of years ago and during that time, I felt better than I ever did! However, I got tired of cleaning my juicer and buying the fruits and vegetable gets quite expensive. So here my juicer sits on the counter all dusty. There are several types of juicers.
http://www.living-foods.com/marketplace/bestjuicer.html This will help educate you if you are completely new to juicing. I paid A LOT of money for my juicer and all it does is juice.

Montel's juicer is really more like a blender x 100! I don't have any personal experience with it, other than being intrigued with the infomercial. I have several friends who have a Vita-Mix, (http://www.vita-mix.com/) which is very similar to Montel's. I will say that they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their Vita-Mixes!! It does so many things besides juice. Technically, it doesn't "juice"; it pulverizes, allowing you to consume the skin of your fruits and veggies which is where the fiber and most of the healthy vitamins and minerals are. One friend uses hers every single day for one use or another! Like me, she bakes her own bread and even uses it to grind her wheat. It's that powerful!

I realize I still haven't answered your question directly, but I did want to share my somewhat related experience. After hearing about the Vita-Mix, I wished I had spent my $ on it instead of the juicer I purchased. Then after seeing Montel's version, I was glad I didn't spend $400-$700 (depending on the model) on the Vita-Mix! Honestly, I don't think you will be disappointed with Montel's. I'm pretty sure it has some sort of money back guarantee.

Geez now you have talked me into one.;)

The big community board would probably have some opinions.

You probably already know this but, beware of the sugars in fruits and veggies. Diabetes runs in both Frank and my families.

I wouldn't buy anything the ShamWow guy doesn't sell.

The last thing I knew about Vince Shlomi (a.k.a. meth-head & hooker basher) he was sitting in jail for...uh...meth posession and bashing a hooker!!! He took his "Slap Chop" schtick a little to seriously! But.... as Vince says: "You're gonna love my nuts!" :rotfl2:

For the reasons you stated - I have shied away from juicers. If it's not easy to use and easy to clean, it'll just sit tucked away in a corner until it ends up in a rummage sale.

I know people who have a Vita-Mix & love it - but I can't see spending that kind of money. Montel's version will also grind grain into flour. I'm going to sic my DH - the King of Research - on it and see what he thinks.
I'm interested more in making the various veggie soups than fruit smoothies. If I can have great tasting, fresh, healthy soup in less than 10 minutes - I'm all for that. I love soup, but can't have all the sodium in canned soup & don't like the prep and time involved to make fresh soup. Time is something I don't have an abundance of - and unfortunately, you can't bank time.

Liv- thanks for your thoughts!!

I totally understand about the price of the Vita-Mix! That's why the infomercial on the HealthMaseter was so intriguing to me. It is (basically) the Vita-Mix for a WHOLE lot cheaper. I need another gadget about like I need another hole in my head, but let me know what your DH finds out and if you get one, how it works out for you.
