Hopefully, we'll be doing A Private Affair in March (have it booked, but so afraid of it being cancelled, for unforseen reasons-we're so hopeful!). I must admit, I'm not sure of the proper "etiquette" on tipping for this. At a resturaunt, of course, we'd tip. Specialty Cruises-tip. However, something makes me wonder if it's appropriate to tip Chef Gordon. I know he told us once that Disney pays him a flat salary, a very good one (at least that's what he said), and he just loves what he does. Somehow, maybe that made me wonder. I mean, I don't want to do the wrong thing, either way. So does anyone know what's correct? And if it's tipping, what's the correct amount? Like a resturaunt server?

We have done "A Private Affair" 3 times, and are planning on our 4th time in April. Since Chef Gordon in a Disney employee, I do not think he is allowed to be tipped (I think I learned that on these boards). I remember when we had to sign the receipt the first time, he had it all totaled without anywhere to put the tip. The last two times we did it it was just my husband and myself, so we still had the $150 minimum price, which is fine with us for that wonderful meal.

Make sure you get the crabcakes, and please report back how it went. I have not seen any reports on "A Private Affair" lately, and it has me concerned.

I specifcally asked about this when we had a PA for a large party. Gordon did not accept a tip, but I did leave some money on the table as our party was large, and therefore there was an assistant. The tip was for the assistant. I look forward to doing a PA again on a future trip. It is a wonderful concept/event.

Uh, excuse me. But what is this "A Private Affair"? I have never heard of it.
