A Practically Perfect Princess Palooza! (Completed 4/10!)

Meeting the princesses looks like it was a lot of fun for Jaden! I'm never sure what to say to the princesses either, but kids always seem to know what to say somehow.

Meeting the princesses was the perfect first park thing. I love the way kids know exactly what to say to Cinderella...or Mickey...or Tigger!

Thank you! I used my little Kodak point and shoot and did a tiny bit of editing in Picasa. I love that photo in front of the castle, too...you can almost feel her excitement!

BTW, I checked out your blog...what a great idea, and you have a beautiful family!

Nice! Kodak camera's take great pictures. I haven't used Picasa before. Thanks so much for the compliments on my blog and family ♥. I really enjoy blogging, I can't believe I never tried it before, lol.

I love empty monorail cars too! It's much more fun when it's just you and your group!

The princess photos are so cute! I'm glad Jaden got to meet her (almost) favorite! :cutie:

I highly recommend Picasa...it works great, plus it's free!

I don't know what it is about the monorail (and I've learned not to question it anymore), but it's just plain magical!

The princesses were so sweet and made Jaden feel so special...it was just wonderful!!

Before we proceed with the Palooza, here’s the photopass picture of Jaden and Cinderella doing their “Princess Hands”. So cute!

While we were at the Castle, we paused for a few more photopass pictures. First the obligatory snap of everyone:

Followed by an “extra magic” shot of Jaden and everyone’s favorite feisty fairy:

Jaden-Photopass.jpg

I only stop for photopass pictures when I’m with someone who doesn’t get to go to WDW very often, and we had such a fun photographer…it was almost like an event having our pictures taken! He took a ton of shots, but we only got a couple to commemorate the day.

When we originally planned the day, a stop at BBB was the highlight, but when Jayne let me know the date, I wasn’t able to get an appointment. I called every single day up to the day before hoping for a cancellation, but it didn’t happen. I explained to Jaden that we’d have to postpone the date in order to get her in at BBB, but she decided that as long as she could get her princess costume, she could pass on the makeover. Smart girl…after all, it IS all about the clothes! princess:

So, we walked through the Castle, stopping to admire the murals and take a peek at BBB (we all agreed that a makeover was in Jaden’s future on a day to be determined), stepped into the sunshine and proceeded to Castle Couture, which is home to anything and everything a little princess needs to rule her kingdom!

Jaden’s hope was that she could get a Rapunzel dress, but I’d already told her that they were hard to come by, so she wasn’t too disappointed when they only had it in tiny sizes. We walked around admiring all the glamorous, shimmering dresses and accessories. I love Belle’s dress and tried to tactfully guide Jaden in the direction of that confection of golden loveliness. She, however, was not moved, stating adamantly that it was Cinderella or Jasmine for her.

The dressing room was taken, so we used the time trying on tiaras, shoes, and jewelry.

It was finally our turn, and first up was Cinderella:

(I love the princess hand in this photo!)

We all agreed that it was lovely on Jaden but also a little heavy to be wearing all day; not to mention that the matching shoes were jellies (who remembers when they were all the rage?) that, although stylish, would be less than comfy for park touring.

Jaime, Jayne and I were leaning towards Jasmine before Jaden even tried it on. It was just too adorable, plus it was lightweight and downright stylish. Jaime even wished that it was available in her size! So, in the end, it was a pretty easy choice, and this is how Jaden emerged from the store:

Darrell called her Prince Jasden, which everyone thought was pretty amusing…everyone, that is, except Jaden!

Leaving Castle Couture, we were headed for Adventureland with a brief stop to visit Tiana.

Tiana was awesome! She was just the right amount of sweet and sassy, and I love, love, love the shot that the photopass photographer got!

At this point, we decided that it was time to actually ride something, so we headed towards Adventureland and Aladdin’s magic carpets. There was only a 15 minute wait, so while Jayne, Jaime, and Jaden got in line, I rolled over to see if Jasmine and Aladdin were meetin’ and greetin’; but unfortunately, they were on a baklava break.

Jaden loved the carpets, especially making them go up and down. After the ride, she asked me to take a picture of the lamp at the top of the ride; and since no one questions a princess, I snapped this gem:

14-Lamp.jpg

Next up: Jungle Cruise, one of my favorites…I love the cheesy jokes! There was a 15 minute wait for this one, too, so we were feeling pretty lucky. As we approached the queue, the CM directed us to the alternate entrance because I was on an ECV. We ended up waiting the full 15 minutes, but not in the crowded queue, which was nice.

I boarded first, and he had me sit over the trap door that keeps the snakes out. Jaden was momentarily concerned but when I played along with the skipper, she got it and joined in on the fun, too. (“I think I hear them hissing…do you hear them hissing?”) We had the best skipper, and a lot of Jungle Cruise fans on board who were saying the punch lines along with him. When we got to the back side of water, at least half the boat said it along with him…it was just so much fun!

After surviving the snakes, lions, hippos, and headhunters, we decided to take a cruise of a different sort and headed over to POTC. I was a little unsure about this one because my knee really doesn’t like to sustain a deep bend for very long, but my great love for POTC would not be denied; so I decided to chance it. With a 10 minute posted wait time, I decided to park the ECV and walk the queue; and we had a lot of fun with the props along the way. Thankfully, the line moved pretty quickly; and we were boarding our boat in short order. Jaden had some trepidation, but we assured her it wasn’t scary and was really fun. She was doubtful as we cruised through the dark and down the dip that made us all scream, but after that she was fine and loved it…and after all, how could anyone not love POTC!?!? I was the only one who’d been on it since the addition of Cap’n Jack, and Jaime especially loved the animatronic Johnny Depps. Getting out of the boat was a little bit not fun, but I managed it and was thankful for the ECV waiting for me.

We made a quick detour to see if Jasmine and Aladdin were back, but they weren’t. Jaden was disappointed, of course, but took it pretty well. Sigh. Sometimes a princess has to face disappointment with grace and move on to the next thing.

Love the photopass pictures!

Oh my gosh... jelly shoes. I had a pair of those and I only remember the pain that went along with them. OW. LOVE the Jasmine outfit!

I agree, who can't have a good time on Pirates?!

Um. How could I NOT remember when Jellies were pretty much the coolest thing since light up sneakers???? But I would definitely not want to wear them in Disney! That's pretty much asking for 500 blisters!

Love the Jasmine outfit! Jaden looks adorable in it! I actually didn't realize that you were able to just buy the dresses at BBB without having an appointment. (But that does make sense!)

Jungle Cruise is one of my favorites! We've never had a fun crowd along with us like it sounds like you guys got! Usually we're the only ones laughing and saying the lines!

When you think about it, it's like, WHY were jellies so popular? I mean, plastic shoes, really? Oh well!

POTC is exquisite, timeless FUN; and I loved being with Jaden on her first ride!

Ah, light up sneakers...now that was STYLE! :rotfl:

The princess outfits are at Castle Couture, right outside of BBB. Disney is excellent at making things available in a package or alone...I know Jaden was VERY happy with her Jasmine outfit!

I just love Jungle Cruise, and being on it with a bunch of veteran cruisers made it even more funderful!

Aw Jaden's Jasmin outfit is awesome! Love that snap with Tiana, so precious.

I haven't spent a lot of time with the princesses (I tend to admire them from afar), but I was completely impressed by how immersed in character they were and what a great job they did interacting with Jaden!

I love Jaden's Princess Jasmine outfit! If I was a little girl, that is definitely the outfit I would pick too! (Or Rapunzel, because it's purple, and I love all things purple!)

Your PP pics are great! I really love the ones with Tiana, she seems like a fun princess to meet! :thumbsup2

All the girls were all about the Jasmine costume! Although I agree about Rapunzel...I've seen her dress online, and it's pretty in purple!

Tiana was wonderful...right up there with Belle tied for best princess interaction!

Before I get on with this update, Jaime posted a photo on facebook that MUST be shared!

PirateWenches.jpg

Just the cutest li’l pirate wenches EVER! It must have been taken when I went to get the ECV after POTC, so I’m really glad she posted it!

OK, at this point the palooza proceeded to Frontierland because Jaden was bouncing with joy at the idea of riding Splash. (We had all mourned BTMRR being closed earlier.) Jayne and I agreed that Splash is mucho fun but decided to pass on the whole getting wet thing, which prompted Jaden to say, “Wait, we’re going to get WET?” And I answered, “Yes, but as long as you’re not secretly the Wicked Witch, you’ll survive.” Which led to Jaden giving me the stink eye in the way that only a nine year old diva can give it.

We watched the boats go down the flume for a while and saw numerous people get SOAKED. Jaden was torn between the thrill of the ride and the horror of walking around wet. Ultimately, she decided to pass on the ride, but we spent a very fun 20 minutes watching other people get drenched.

Leaving Splash and its squishy victims behind, we decided to check out the line for Haunted Mansion. Jaden heard the word “haunted” and started dragging her heels. No way, no how was she riding it. She insisted she hates scary rides, and no amount of reassurance was going to sway her. She had a teeny tiny mini-meltdown, so we quickly changed the plan and made our way to Small World.

As usual, the crowds in Fantasyland were a crazy mishmash of strollers, ECVs, and pedestrians, but the wait time for the ride was only 20 minutes; and we were getting in line when a CM directed us to the alternate entrance. As we waited our turn and watched the boats load and unload, I detected a growing discomfort in my knee and decided that I would pass. When our turn came, I went on up the ramp and headed to the nearest kiosk for a cold bottle of Dasani and a pain pill while everyone else embarked on the happiest cruise that ever sailed. I was pretty bummed to miss it because I enjoy IASW very much.

After procuring a bottle of water, I went into Pinocchio’s and filled my handy dandy zip lock bag with ice. Voila! Ice pack! I rolled back over to the IASW exit, propped my leg up and let the ice work its magic. By the time everyone else returned, I was feeling much improved, and we zipped over to Peter Pan for FPs, with a return time of 6:15, if I remember correctly (I didn’t write it down…doh!).

Next up was a favorite of mine and something brand new for everyone else…Philharmagic! While we waited, Jayne took the photos below. Obviously, I didn’t hear that everyone was supposed to be “gangsta” so here we have three gangsters and a lunatic.

17-Philharmagic.jpg

Jayne demanded a retake with Jaden and me lookin’ tough. Obviously I’m under the influence of some powerful medication; otherwise it would never be shared here!

16-Gangstas.jpg

Philharmagic was a rousing success with everyone (as I knew it would be).

By this time, we were all getting a little rumbly in our tumblies; and since we had a few minutes before our ADR, we decided to all get Pixie Dusted. Even Darrel gave in and went along! Giggling and glittery, we headed for Crystal Palace, where the food was very good; but the story is best told in pictures.

Piglet stopped by our table first…

18-Piglet.jpg

Jaden led the parade with Tigger…

19-TiggersParade.jpg

And smiled for the camera…

20-Tigger.jpg

Jaime got a little Tiggeriffic, too…

21-Tigger.jpg

…and gave him a smooch!

22-Tigger.jpg

Pooh was the filling in a sister sandwich…

23-Pooh.jpg

And Eeyore (Jaime’s favorite) rounded out the fun!

24-Eyeore.jpg

It was so cute watching Jaime interact with Pooh and the gang. She had sweetly declined to have her picture taken with any of the princesses, but the minute she found out that we were lunching with Christopher Robin’s pals, she was as excited as Jaden!

At the end of the meal our server brought Jaden a birthday card signed by all the characters and a birthday cupcake. She was more excited about the card than the cupcake, which, alas, went mostly uneaten because we were full from all the yummy treats on the dessert bar. I highly recommend the mocha-coffee mousse!

We left CP rested, fed, refreshed and ready for our next stop!

Hahaha love the gangster Philharmagic pictures! :rotfl:

Hooray for the Crystal Palace! LOVE that place so much!

Jaden looks great as Princess Jasmine! I bet that was a really comfortable outfit for touring the parks, too.

Crystal Palace looks like it was great! I love that place. :goodvibes

That stinks that you had to skip IASW, but I'm glad that you were feeling better quickly! Not able to convince the group to go right back on, huh?

Too bad you had to pass on iasw :sad2:
