Day 15 (14 Aug 12) The plan is now officially out of the window!!
Trip Intro/Index here.
All change again. We were originally planning to visit AK today, but I when checking Touring Plans, I noticed that MK had extremely low crowd levels predicted for today, so MK it was. We were out for the bus at 8:20 and one came within a few minutes of us arriving at the bus stop. We were at MK for 8:45 and another first for us seeing the opening show and rope drop.
Once into the park, we hot footed round to Frontierland where we obtained Big Thunder Mountain fastpasses for 9:45, and managed two almost walk-on rides of Splash Mountain. We then used out BTM fastpass at 9:45, then overt to get FPs for Space Mountain which were available for 10:40. To fill the timer, we had yet another go on Buzz Lightyear (5 mins wait) and walked straight into Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. By this time it was 10:45, so before riding Space Mountain, we obtained another FP for 11:40 it certainly looked as it it would be a fairly quiet day at MK today!!
Following our first ride, we grabbed some smoothies and went on the Tomorrowland peoplemover before our second FP time came around, following which we made our way over to Fantasyland and the Village Haus for lunch 2 flatbreads, a soup, two gelatos and two bottles of water using 2 CS and a snack credit.
After lunch, we nipped into Mickeys Philharmagic, followed by my favourite ride Small World. That tune noooooooooooo .
After this, we decided that it was getting a bit too warm, so we agreed to return to OKW for some time around the pool. Using the bus, we were back in 25 minutes, and Joanne and myself around the pool by 3:00 with Alex catching up on Facebook in the room. However, by 4:15, all the signs of a storm were there, so we abandoned our beds by the pool and just reached our room before it started pouring with rain, and the thunder followed shortly after.
Tonight was one of the few dinner reservations we hadnt changed this week Boma at AKL. We had a 7:00 time booked, and arrived a few minutes early and were shown in straight away. The first thing we noticed since our last visit in2010 was it seemed a lot lighter not sure if people had complained about it being too dark before, but it does seem to be an improvement.
We had a table by the window (but furthest from the buffet!), and our drinks orders were soon taken. We managed to get by with sensible helpings from the buffet, the soups and the beef in particular being good.
Following the meal, we wandered outside to view the animals, but only a few were about. We did have a chuckle when a baby giraffe was nosing in some long grass only to be startled by a family of ducklings hiding out in there mom was not pleased at being disturbed!!!
With that, we set back off for OKW, and watching Tangled on the big screen at Hospitality House. Unfortunately, it doesnt lend itself to this type of show as the umbrellas on the tables get in the way, even when down. Fortunately, we got a table towards the front so didnt have too bad a view, but others behind may have struggled. With the film over, bed beckoned and the prospect of a lie-in in the morning.
