A Pirate and a Princess Go to the World......Updated Ch. 12/pics/COMPLETE

:rotfl: You do know...ummm...next time...he can just FAKE gagging noises in the bathroom at work and then roll around in pain on the doctors table! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: Poor (yet dedicated :thumbsup2 ) guy!

Your first day (so far) sounds like a lot of fun. What time did you get to your hotel? And I am so PROUD of you for getting the first shower! You rock! ;)

Looking forward to more!

verrrrrrrrrrrrry funny you! by the way I've been lurking on your pre-trip report. Please go now, I love your TR's!

We made it to the resort around 9:30 in the morning and yes, shower was definitely much in need!

Loved the latest installment, we would like to try POR on our next visit, do have some concern about the buses. How did they work out the rest of your trip?

Your description of your early rising was funny, we are just the opposite, I am the one that is up and rearing to go, with my wife pulling the covers over her head and saying she has changed her mind.

Thanks for sharing your trip

After having our energy drained from us we walked to the front of the park. It ws pretty deserted so we were able to get a nice shot of the train station.

Soon enough we found our way back to the resort and we somehow found some energy back. We decided to have a drink at the River Roost Lounge to relax and unwind. We were a bit delirious from all the day had presented and were desperately trying to find our peaceful place. After looking at the cloud menu I decided on The Ultimate Margarita and Jay had his signature jack and coke. Excitiedly we discussed all the wonderful things we were going to do and see. Not much later we were back again in the Disney spirit and the magic was all over us yet again.

We decided to take a stroll to examine the grounds more meticulously. We almost instantly realized Port Orleans is a very beautiful and romantic resort. Our room was overlooking the river that was quaint and whimsical in a way that it made you forget about all of life's troubles. Watching horse drawn carriages trot down the cobble stone paths we took a stroll hand in hand.

We walked along the Sassagoula River enjoying all of its charm from it's beautiful gazebos to wonderful and beautiful flowers and plants. We walked for a pretty long time discussing our wedding that we're looking foward to and our honeymoon and about all the trips we had taken before, and the things we were about to do on this trip. Looking back this was definitely the most romantic part of our adventure.

Soon enough it was time to make our way back to the room to get ready for dinner. We had reservations at our favorite restaurant of all time, Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. We had eaten there twice before and both times had had wonderful experiences. I was a bit apprehensive about scheduling such a nice dinner on our first day, as usually we're a bit tired but because it was such a short stay, on such short notice this was the only time slot we were able to get.

We took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and figured that the bus from there to Wilderness Lodge would be quicker than taking the boat. We were right and arrived at the resort an hour early! :scared1: We decided to take our chances and see if there was anything available at that time. We made our way over and the hostess said we could check in and it would be about a half hour wait. No big deal. We made our way over to the bar to enjoy some cocktails. I had a bacardi and diet coke and Jeremy had an interesting drink that was in the book of drinks available called a chocolate cherry. It came in a martini glass and was actually pretty good, but a bit potent!

Right about the time we were scheduled to go into dinner we saw a table of 20 being seated. We knew that couldn't be good for service. Sure enough, immediately afterwards we were buzzed in.

The waitress that we had had the last time we were there was our waitress again so we felt confident that our meal would go smoothly. We always order the same things when we come here so we really didn't even need to look at the menu. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer, a cheese plate, I had the signature cedar plank salmon and Jeremy had the buffalo steak. Quickly the mussels came out and the cheese and the waitress took the plates away. We waited another 45 MINUTES before our entrees came out. We also asked for water three times and never received it during our entire dinner. It was all very disappointing as the meal cost a small fortune. While the food quality was absolutely delicious the service was poorly lacking. For our entire dinner we didn't have a drink! I still am an avid fan of Artist Point, but we won't be returning next trip :confused3

After dinner we decided to peruse the resort a bit. We love Wilderness Lodge and were a bit sad we weren't staying there, but it just makes it all the more special when we can afford it!

We took a cab back the resort as it was getting late and heard music coming through the main area of the hotel. The River Roost was having a piano player play and he was quite good so we decided to have one more round before calling it a night. We had a nice time listening to the altered "Hold me closer, Tony Danzzza and called it a night. We were after all, waking up at the crack of dawn to make it to the opening of Animal Kingdom in the morning!

prncssmel- thanks for reading! Yes we've done some crazy things in our time for the mouse. My pup is flattered! Also, congrats on the upcoming wedding!
Thanks. Your wedding seems really close! Are you going crazy yet?

I am disappointed to see that about Artist's Point. I was getting really excited about eating there and have heard a lot of good things. We are staying at WL, so we wanted to eat there while we were there this time.

Sounds like a great experience, this is why we would like to try this resort on a future vist, it just looks like a place you can relax and enjoy life.

We found this scenario to be true at a couple of the establishments we visited on our last trip. I agree that it is disappointing when you are spending a large chunk of money on a meal and can’t even get a drink to go with it.

The wedding is really close and I'm going crazy. It's a small wedding (only about 35 people) but I haven't even gotten a dress yet! Or a photographer! I really need to get on that. I'm not big on events like it, so it's hard to be motivated. I was all for an elopment! (At disney of course :lmao: )

About Artist Point, don't be disappointed. The kitchen/staff was definitely overwhelmed by the large table. The restaurant was pretty deserted because it was a wednesday night in January, so there was limited staff. The food was still delicious, it was just a lack of service. Sometimes restaurants just have off nights, but we've always enjoyed our experiences here :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi Goofster! :wave2: We really enjoyed Port Orleans. It's very relaxing and slow pace. Compared to other resorts we've stayed at which are absolutely beautiful, but a little more...overwhelming.

Yes, it is a bit disappointing....suprisingly this was the only meal of our trip that we had a problem with service.

So, you're just missing a dress and a photog? That's not bad. I can see why you're going crazy, though.

A dress is the only thing I do have right now. I found a picture I like and had one made like it. It was way cheaper than buying one, and it turned out perfectly. I just could not fathom spending thousands on a dress I was only going to wear once.

For buying one, I recommend Alfred Angelo. Gorgeous dresses for decent prices. Good luck finding one!

Okay, I think we are still going to go with Artist's Point then. DF likes their wine list a lot, and they have good pairing prices.

Wow, that's so nice that you had it designed for you! I'm suprised that it ended up being cheaper, that's really cool. Thanks for the advice I'll definitely check out that line. I'd definitely recommend Artist Point. I hope you enjoy it!

Just a lurker! I loved your last trip report so I can't wait to read more about this one! DH and I would love to take off like that and just go....

Just curious if you and your future husband plan to honeymoon at Disney?

It was cheaper mostly because I wasn't paying for the designer's name. So, what are you doing for your honeymoon then? Do you at least have that planned out? I totally have our honeymoon planned way more than our wedding.

Okay, getting a shot to get out of work deserves some kind of crazy Disney fan award! That's dedication!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

thanks so much! It was really fun to go so spontaneously, it made it that much more exciting! I swear one of my biggest dreams is to be suprised with a trip to Disney! As for the honeymoon, we're actually going to go out west and spend the first four nights at Disney at the Grand Californian, then out to Vegas and then the national parks (zion, bryce, salt lake, grand teton and yellowstone)...it certainly will be an adventure!

That's awesome....yeah, I have our honeymoon planned out way more than the wedding as well....that's what I'm realllllllly excited for! :thumbsup2

Me, too! Somebody asked me a question about flowers for the wedding. I was like yeah, I don't know that, but do you want to know all about the hotels we are staying at in FL?

Okay, it totally seems like we are switching regular vacations for our honeymoons. We have been to DL, Vegas, and parks several times in the past few years and are going to WDW for our honeymoon. And you have beento WDW and are going to the others. If you end up with any questions on those places, I have a lot of experiece. Especially, of course, on the Salt Lake area. :lmao:
