After having our energy drained from us we walked to the front of the park. It ws pretty deserted so we were able to get a nice shot of the train station.
Soon enough we found our way back to the resort and we somehow found some energy back. We decided to have a drink at the River Roost Lounge to relax and unwind. We were a bit delirious from all the day had presented and were desperately trying to find our peaceful place. After looking at the cloud menu I decided on The Ultimate Margarita and Jay had his signature jack and coke. Excitiedly we discussed all the wonderful things we were going to do and see. Not much later we were back again in the Disney spirit and the magic was all over us yet again.
We decided to take a stroll to examine the grounds more meticulously. We almost instantly realized Port Orleans is a very beautiful and romantic resort. Our room was overlooking the river that was quaint and whimsical in a way that it made you forget about all of life's troubles. Watching horse drawn carriages trot down the cobble stone paths we took a stroll hand in hand.
We walked along the Sassagoula River enjoying all of its charm from it's beautiful gazebos to wonderful and beautiful flowers and plants. We walked for a pretty long time discussing our wedding that we're looking foward to and our honeymoon and about all the trips we had taken before, and the things we were about to do on this trip. Looking back this was definitely the most romantic part of our adventure.
Soon enough it was time to make our way back to the room to get ready for dinner. We had reservations at our favorite restaurant of all time, Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. We had eaten there twice before and both times had had wonderful experiences. I was a bit apprehensive about scheduling such a nice dinner on our first day, as usually we're a bit tired but because it was such a short stay, on such short notice this was the only time slot we were able to get.
We took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and figured that the bus from there to Wilderness Lodge would be quicker than taking the boat. We were right and arrived at the resort an hour early!

We decided to take our chances and see if there was anything available at that time. We made our way over and the hostess said we could check in and it would be about a half hour wait. No big deal. We made our way over to the bar to enjoy some cocktails. I had a bacardi and diet coke and Jeremy had an interesting drink that was in the book of drinks available called a chocolate cherry. It came in a martini glass and was actually pretty good, but a bit potent!
Right about the time we were scheduled to go into dinner we saw a table of 20 being seated. We knew that couldn't be good for service. Sure enough, immediately afterwards we were buzzed in.
The waitress that we had had the last time we were there was our waitress again so we felt confident that our meal would go smoothly. We always order the same things when we come here so we really didn't even need to look at the menu. We ordered the mussels for an appetizer, a cheese plate, I had the signature cedar plank salmon and Jeremy had the buffalo steak. Quickly the mussels came out and the cheese and the waitress took the plates away. We waited another 45 MINUTES before our entrees came out. We also asked for water three times and never received it during our entire dinner. It was all very disappointing as the meal cost a small fortune. While the food quality was absolutely delicious the service was poorly lacking. For our entire dinner we didn't have a drink! I still am an avid fan of Artist Point, but we won't be returning next trip
After dinner we decided to peruse the resort a bit. We love Wilderness Lodge and were a bit sad we weren't staying there, but it just makes it all the more special when we can afford it!
We took a cab back the resort as it was getting late and heard music coming through the main area of the hotel. The River Roost was having a piano player play and he was quite good so we decided to have one more round before calling it a night. We had a nice time listening to the altered "Hold me closer,
Tony Danzzza and called it a night. We were after all, waking up at the crack of dawn to make it to the opening of Animal Kingdom in the morning!
