A (no-longer new) training log (comments welcome)

30 minutes easy on the treadmill at lunch. I like doing "time easy" runs at lunch because I have set times and I avoid the need to speed up to get a distance.

showers: good, my towel: bad. Gym: hot. 3 treads and only 2 people there.

good times.

OK. 2 weeks ish of rest since CIM

4 miles easy this morning.

And I've signed up for another marathon. SF marathon in July.

I've run much of this before (I've run most of the 1st half in other events and I've run the 2nd half multiple times.

The goal is to do some speed work (and drop 10-12 lbs of fat) for 12 weeks and then do the 18 week higdon plan that I selected for CIM and train more consistently than I did for CIM. I think I can run sub-5.

let me finish my spreadsheet and see if I can attach

week 1 partially complete. I rescheduled my running from the time we are at Dland to week 0, because I rarely have extra time in the morning before rope drop to run and I don't want to take extra clothes.

edit: last time I did this plan I did a smaller hill at the beginning of my hills and transitioned to a larger hill. I think I might start on the larger hill tomorrow.

Week 1 fully done, runs per plan and 4 days at Disney have pushed my Garmin step goal to 20040 today (not happening)

Ran today for week 2 Monday. felt like poop, ran like poop, ran anyway, finished it. better tomorrow.

Trying to get used to lunchtime tread runs for my shorter runs. have forgotten headphones consistently :(... Only ran 2.2 miles yesterday before I really needed to stop for a bathroom break... couldn't push through that wall.

So DD14 has become my accountability buddy on this. I gave her access to my plan and she asks me about it every day.

This is good because :
  1. She doesn't sugar coat anything (did that run involve hills?)
  2. she can see my strava.
  3. You can play games with training mentally but you can't cheat your body, you either do the work or don't; it's good to have someone to honestly discuss how I felt with.

DD: "was that strength workout REALLY enough for you?" and adding the teenager smirk...

OK week 2 done. I did all the miles and workouts.

I felt bad about a lot of them. let's see how week 3 goes, but it felt like one of those weeks I'll be glad about later.

Run today felt much better...
  • but it was cold (I pay good money for not cold here in California! I demand to speak to the manager)
  • and I tripped on a pavement bump that couldn't be more than 1/2" tall.. small abrasion to the knee and hand. I debated turning around early but finished the distance.

Used to be when I fell running I was hoping no one was around and saw. Now I'm hoping there's at least someone to see in case I need first aid...

Yeah I hear you on the fall. Was just reading a post from a friend who did the half at WDW on Saturday and tripped….and fractured wrist, nose, orbital bone, along with stitches. At least there were a few thousand people around an other friends to help. Here in MI the winter fear is slipping on ice. Hasn’t made me move indoors yet though.

I've fallen twice this month (don't tell my doctor) once ice skating and today running. Both times I dropped the phone and generally rolled on my "meatier parts" so no orbital fractures and skating I remembered to tuck my chin, so no head strike.

My brothers specialized in the orbital fractures growing up. They eventually had to wear braces snowboarding because the ER nurses got to know my stepmom and recommended the braces after fracture 3 or 4.

There was frost today but the path wasn't icy where I fell.. :(
