DVC X RunDisney

What’s an easy race to sign up for? Looking to do one in a couple years hopefully. Would be fun.

I’ve heard horror stories - yesterday was my first attempt - I sat in the virtual queue for about an hour and then was able to register for the marathon. Some of the Challenges and the half had sold out already. I’ll let the more seasoned RunDisney crew among us weigh in!

PS - who’s running?!

Springtime Surprise is typically the easiest race weekend to register for. Who knows how it will be for next years, with how registrations have gone so far for W&D and MW.
Springtime is usually pretty warm and it is a more expensive time to travel in April too, which is why I think it is a little slower to sell out.

Honestly.... I hate to be on the renters ruin everything bandwagon.... but I've had great luck with waitlists around run weekends and I blame people snagging the reservation and trying to rent it and the dropping it within 60 days of the race. It's a risk but I've been lucky. Another thing you may think about.... once I traded reservations with a west coast person and it worked well. They booked my reservation and I booked theirs (paid $$ so the points evened out). I wouldn't trust just anyone but the running community is solid and there are a bunch of people who either want to do DL or have resale points but want to book Riviera at 7 months. Like trading houses... but with stays :)

I similarly have had good luck with some waitlists for Aulani, but I had a cash stay booked and ended up with it pretty quickly resolved after 7 months.

I may get a cash stay and see what we can snag at 7 months.

Springtime Surprise 10 mile is by far the easiest. The last few years it was the last to sell out, even past the original registration date.
Agree with everyone else who said Springtime (yes especially the 10 miler), and it's not even close. That said, if it's a theme that people REALLY go nuts for (e.g., if they bring back Star Wars or try to capitalize again on Muppets excitement) I can see that demand going up too.

Hope everyone got what they wanted for marathon weekend. I’m running Goofy and staying at CCV!

I loved it there on MW 2025 except for the 45 min bus ride on half marathon day. The pool and hot tub (it was a cold year) were both awesome!

Favorite DVC resorts for MW?

Hold out for monorail for HM and M races?

We stayed at BLT last year and had a good time. Note: to get to MK, you have to take the monorail as the path is part of the course and closed to spectators. I got up early and spectated the HM for about an hour before going back to sleep. It wasn't very legit, but it was very chill as far as spectating went, which was nice.

If you're into the meetups, Hurricane Hannah's is frequently the place and is at BC. You don't need to be staying there to access (at least most of) the ordering and eating areas. But it's made me want to stay on the boardwalk or at least skyliner.

So, I want to try:
BWV > BC

And I have stayed at:
BLT (bonus spectating + Monorail) > OKW (bus proximity + cheap) > Poly (fine but walking tower-monorail was longer than desired) > SSR (fine but not to many marathon-special features... I guess Moromito carbs in DS)

I like staying at SSR. It just feels relaxing, and DS is close with lots of different food options. I do usually rent a car for MW, so that makes SSR easier than without.
