A Most Epic Fantasy DISmeet Cruise-The bitter end 3/21, Bonus Feature, Completed Star Wars Galaxy's Edge 6/20

I think I am caught up and WOW total food/dessert porn! I am happy the flat me got to partake in a drink and dessert.

Everything looks incredible! :cloud9:

Yeah, you were still skinny and flat after all that food and dessert!

Jill in CO

My mouth is watering seeing all of those desserts. Yum!!! That so sad Fran wasn't able to enjoy the trip.

It was so delicious! And it's not that she didn't enjoy the trip, in fact I think she was happy to stay in the room most of the time.

I highly recommend the Remy dessert! Everything was so delicious!

Jill in CO

Thanks! Me too

That event looks amazing!

It totally was!

I loved all your updates with the special meals! Did you ever feel like it was too much too close together? Michael and I have only ever done Palo brunch and Remy dinner within one 7-night cruise and besides a cost concern, I am wondering if we were not to get too tired of all the delicious food.

I loved reading about the dessert experience, but it did seem very chocolate heavy. To be honest, I would be more interested in the champagne than the desserts... But I did love the Remy brunch. Just like with Palo, the restaurant does take on a different atmosphere during daylight and I would love to experience this.

Yikes - I could think of nothing worse than being seriously injured on a cruise in the middle of the ocean! As you say better to save one life and inconveniece a few thousand!

I know that's got to be awful to be injured like that so far from medical treatment.

It looks like another wonderful meal at Remy!

Always, although not sure how I feel with the. We pricing.

We enjoyed Solo as well - a bit too fan-service-y to be a great movie- but a fun little romp. It didn't ruin my childhood!

It was a fun movie, and we're glad we finally saw it.

Just reading this menu made me excited!

I just wish the French were more descriptive and not so cryptic in their menus.

The apple looks so fine and thin, was it a vanilla bean sort of ice cream with it?

At this point I don't remember what it was. The only thing I can say is good!

Mmm Peanut goodness!

Yes it was! And very unique.

I would enjoy this one I think, as I do like hazelnuts a lot

OK next time I'll give you mine!

Does this have a sort of jelly coating around it?

I think it was more of a gelatin.

I hope she is ok- unfortunate to be late at Castaway, however someone's life is indeed much more

I know. There's no way of knowing how it turned out.

Beauty colour on this one also

Tasty too!

This looks very yummy!

It was all very yummy!

I don't know if they had this experience when we were on the Fantasy (I don't remember it) but I hope someday to do something similar!

It's not something well advertised. It's on the last sea day of both the larger ships. We only found out about it because they were preparing for it when we had Remy Brunch on the Dream.

They let kids play bingo??? I'm a bit surprised... or... are the prizes not cash?

Kids can play but they have to accompanied by someone older, not sure if they have to be over 18, but probably.

A hole where the sun don't shine. Check.

Actually it was a hole where the sun did shine!

I can't believe you're actually wishing you got up earlier.

Taking sunrise pics would have been nice.

Did you knock her down? I hope she was okay. I hear if you hit your head, they fly you home.

No, we're like weebles. Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.

I've had that. Didn't care for the taste.

You should try it on the outside of your body. It's a little more satisfying.

ohhhhh.... that sounds... heavenly. :cloud9:

::yes::

One does not discuss breakfast. One eats breakfast.

Remember? We're women, everything is a discussion before action!

I'm with Fran. I don't like that either. For exactly the same reason.

I can understand that, but they're more than happy to let you linger, but I get it.

No offense... but that Bennie doesn't look very appetizing.

No the ones in the sit down dining room are much better, but the advantage of this one is you get to put the hollandaise on it, and as you can see, Fran went for the over the top amount!

Oh, come on. That's bs, obviously. More likely they were just trying to please you by giving you more of what you asked for.

They've told me that before, so it could be a fleet wide policy but it's silly.

With brown sugar. I approve.

That's the only way to eat oatmeal. Fran likes Brown Sugar and butter in hers.

I'm not a huge fan of waffles... but that's making my mouth water!

I wish I would be having some Mickey Waffles on our upcoming trip, but we have no breakfast reservations.

Nice shot, Alison! :thumbsup2

Thanks! It just happened to work out that way!

Not a bad deal!

It's always a good deal to book your next Disney cruise while onboard!

Gorgeous (and impressive!) chandelier.

I know its really cool!

I like the looks of the fixin's bar.

And they have salad dressing so you can even fix up a salad if you like.

Oh? You had originally planned to sell it, I presume

Yes. We have another from a previous trip that we still need to sell.

:( Is that because she was ill? Or just a bit chilly on board?

Actually it turns out that she has a severe iron deficiency and she is seeing a Hematologist and getting iron infusions and severe cold is a symptom of iron deficiency.

Had she recovered from when you ran into her?

As I said weebles wobble but they don't fall down!

I glanced at that and...
I want the first and last dessert. I guess that means I like fruity over chocolate.
Also want that icewine. But... (later)

I was happy with all of them!

Whoa! Long time. Dude must know his stuff.

I think he did, otherwise Disney wouldn't have hired him!

Impressive credentials.

::yes::

:faint:

I can't even imaging how good this must've been.

It was definitely incredibly good!

Hmmm... might have to pass on that, depending how I'm feeling.

Not a fan of peanuts?

Pass.

Me too.

Even not being a huge fan if hazelnuts it was still pretty tasty.

Although the presentation is quite nice.

Yes it was.

Interesting looking.

Yeah this one was weird, not what I was expecting.

Oh dear. Must've been quite the fall.

I guess so. We didn't hear anything else.

But... while the ice wine appealed the most... I'm really intrigued by this one now.

I posted about a dinner that Fran and I attended where all the wines came from this winery a few years back. It was quite fancy

really on the fence on this one. If there's too much dark/bitter chocolate, I'd probably pass. So I'd have to try it before deciding.

I'm pretty sure I liked this one.

Now this... This is the pièce de résistance! Yum!

Yes! This one was incredible!

Kids can play but they have to accompanied by someone older, not sure if they have to be over 18, but probably.

Huh! Surprised by that.

Actually it was a hole where the sun did shine!

Lucky you!

Taking sunrise pics would have been nice.

So is sleeping. ;)

(But I do know the allure of sacrificing for a good photo.)

No, we're like weebles. Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down.

 I remember that.

You should try it on the outside of your body. It's a little more satisfying.

Novel concept.

Remember? We're women, everything is a discussion before action!

What? I didn’t say anything!

:rolleyes1

No the ones in the sit down dining room are much better, but the advantage of this one is you get to put the hollandaise on it, and as you can see, Fran went for the over the top amount!

Hmmmm...
If it’s mock hollandaise... I’ll pass.

They've told me that before, so it could be a fleet wide policy but it's silly.

Bizarre.

I wish I would be having some Mickey Waffles on our upcoming trip, but we have no breakfast reservations.

None at the food court??

And they have salad dressing so you can even fix up a salad if you like.

Really! If anything, I thought they’d discourage that.

Actually it turns out that she has a severe iron deficiency and she is seeing a Hematologist and getting iron infusions and severe cold is a symptom of iron deficiency.

Glad that’s figured out!

Not a fan of peanuts?

I am. They may not be a fan of me. Sometimes when I eat nuts/peanuts, I wake up the next day thinking I have a cold. Sore, scratchy throat, sniffles, watery eyes. Then the next day... all gone.

Maybe a mild allergy or sensitivity.

Loving the TR!!

Do you recall what Jill's room number was? We are on the Fantasy in just over 3 weeks and it looks like it may be similar to the room we have so just curious where it was located.

Thanks!! We just got assigned room #5192 which looks like it is almost directly below you so I was curious if we would have the same views as you did! We can't wait!!

Dang. I'm sure it felt good to rest, though.

Then again, I get a fair amount of rest in real life compared to other folks. The only time I get up early is on vacation!

How hard is it to cook one egg?

That's what I'm wanting to know? :confused3

Glad you liked the movie! I thought it was a meh. The guy playing Han Solo was a letdown from Harrison Ford.

I've heard a lot of people say that, but I thought he was convincing as a young Han.

"You're gonna eat...and you're gonna drink."

I can see your point. I think you would have heard Charlie Brown's teacher as he was talking.

Holy cow. That's quite the effort.

It's that kind of effort that makes the food there so exquisite.

Uh oh.

Stinks to be delayed, but that sounds like it must have been really serious. Hope she was ok.

I hope so too. No way to know if she was.

Oh my that looks like a great pairing. I love chocolate and wine. Too bad that Fran did not feel well and had to leave.

She stayed for the whole meal, she just didn't want to hang around for the idle chatter and petit fours.

Your entire Remy experience looks great. I thought we would be dining there on our next cruise but when they went up to $125 per person we decided it was not worth it to us. But I do wish we had jumped in on an earlier cruise and experienced it when it was less expensive. Oh well.

I know. When we are back on the Fantasy, I'll have to think hard about going to Remy. Palo is such a better deal.

Well poop.

Stuff happens.

Ahh, niiiice and warm. I could get used to that.

I do like the Rainforest Room!

Huh? Say what?

I know, really? :confused3

That's pretty cool. But all I could notice was the really gorgeous peacock carpet!

The carpeting throughout the ship is actually quite pretty!

The Art Deco carries so well throughout!

Actually this is a fun factoid. The Disney Magic and Dream are styled in Art Deco, the Disney Wonder and Fantasy are styled in Art Nouveau.

#tikimugpriorities

Totally! We need another shelf for our collection! We can't even display all of our mugs anymore!

Those two just look too rich for me. I think my faves would have been the apple and the lemon.

Thise were my favorites but I tried to eat all of them.

I would hope everyone on board would have had the same compassion and understanding. From a nurse's perspective, that must've been a HUGE burden of stress on him or her to make that call to order an entire ship to port for an evac. It would have been a multi-thousand (possibly 10s of thousands) dollar decision and to have that responsibility would be very daunting.

I'm sure he didn't hesitate to make that decision. I'm sure they've had to do it before.

It did sound (and look) stunning.

Our server heard me talking about it at dinner a few nights before and was probably smirking knowing that it would be served again.

I think I am caught up and WOW total food/dessert porn! I am happy the flat me got to partake in a drink and dessert.

Everything looks incredible! :cloud9:

It's not hard to caught up here! I'm so far behind!

Well after she made you do laundry and all! ;)

We're about to embark on a real trip this weekend!

Yeah, you were still skinny and flat after all that food and dessert!

Let's see if she can pull that off after this weekend!

I’m late to the party but just read your whole report so I’m all caught up!

:welcome:

I hope to get this back up and going!

I loved all your updates with the special meals! Did you ever feel like it was too much too close together? Michael and I have only ever done Palo brunch and Remy dinner within one 7-night cruise and besides a cost concern, I am wondering if we were not to get too tired of all the delicious food.

I have a high tolerance for fancy food. :teeth: But after a week or so I do get somewhat tired of it.

I loved reading about the dessert experience, but it did seem very chocolate heavy. To be honest, I would be more interested in the champagne than the desserts...

I thought it was a good variety, there wasn't really a lot of chocolate, maybe half?

But I did love the Remy brunch. Just like with Palo, the restaurant does take on a different atmosphere during daylight and I would love to experience this.

I did love the brunch too. I would still do that even if we don't have dinner there.

Not typical in real life. #10Days :woohoo:

 Today!!!!!!!

Huh! Surprised by that.

Disney tries to be inclusive for the kids. Plus the hosts are rather boisterous, there is a lit of dancing and frolicking.

So is sleeping. ;)

(But I do know the allure of sacrificing for a good photo.)

Well based in my home's location etc. I can't see the sunrise or sunset without moving to higher ground, so its exciting to me when at sea.

What? I didn’t say anything!

Hmmmm...
If it’s mock hollandaise... I’ll pass.

Probably not. DCL does everything from scratch.

None at the food court??

There are no food courts at the resorts I stay at. :snooty:

In all honesty, we order groceries to have breakfast in the room. English muffins, V8, and on a couple days bacon and eggs or French Toast. However I just realized that Fran and I don't have breakfast plans the first two days. And Olivia's Cafe appears to be wide open our first day... :scratchin

Really! If anything, I thought they’d discourage that

Why? The more they can offer people...then again they have already made up salads at the QS

Glad that’s figured out!

I just hope she starts getting warmer. Not only is our heating bill getting up there, I'm dying with the house so hot.

I am. They may not be a fan of me. Sometimes when I eat nuts/peanuts, I wake up the next day thinking I have a cold. Sore, scratchy throat, sniffles, watery eyes. Then the next day... all gone.

Maybe a mild allergy or sensitivity.

Huh. Very odd.

Loving the TR!!

Do you recall what Jill's room number was? We are on the Fantasy in just over 3 weeks and it looks like it may be similar to the room we have so just curious where it was located.

:welcome:

I see Jill got back to you. I hope you have fun on your cruise!

Wow! It's been nearly a month since my last update. I have no idea what has been keeping me so busy, but I've barely been able to get to my computer in the past weeks. We haven't floated away with all the rain. I live in a very flat and populated area, so we are not having problems with flooding, mudslides or our house sliding off the hillside.

The big news is that we finally rented our old home. It was even a previous tenant! In the 10 years since she moved out of the other place, she gained a fiancee with a daughter, so now they're a traditional family with two daughters age 24 and 14. A three bedroom was perfect for them. Plus she is a “known commodity”, so they'll be good tenants. Not to mention that she has an even more lucrative job so there will be no issues paying the rent! Win win. They are moving in this weekend.

Other exciting news, for the first time in 16 years we got a brand new car! We've been thinking about it for a few years now, but a few summers back we spent the money on a pool refurb, I can't remember why we didn't pull the trigger last year, but it's good we didn't with the million dollar kittens and all. Finding a tenant for Apartment #1 had a lot to do with the decision as well as the President's Day weekend sales. The car's name is Dash and it's bright red.

Our WDW trip with my parents is coming right up, like 12 days away. I'm not sure that I'll be able to finish this report before we go, at this pace. I did finally wrap up all the planning details, like ordering our groceries and Owner's Locker, planning spa treatments, and getting a rental car for one day, the one we are homeless and between resorts. Fran wants to go off campus, we scrubbed the idea of the Kennedy Space Center. It would have been a long long day with a terribly early morning. Instead we are thinking about a couple local things and sleeping in and checking out right at 11AM. All that's left to do is pack!

But before that! The DCA Food & Wine Festival opens today and I have a one bedroom booked for the weekend and Jenny and Jill are coming along to crash in the living room. Even with the rain it still should be a fun filled jam packed weekend!

Back to the TR!

Since we were already dressed up from our dessert tasting at Remy, we made the rounds of the characters. It was semi formal night and they were all dressed up again too. We hit up Mickey first.

z18FC0830SD347.jpg

z18FC0830SD349.jpg

Then I dashed over to Preludes to get in line for Daisy, where Fran caught up with me.

z18FC0830SD356.jpg

z18FC0830SD357.jpg

z18FC0830SD358.jpg

Then it was back up to the Balcony for Chip and Dale. That’s partly how I got Fran out for the character meets. These two are some of her favorite characters so she is happy to meet them.

After Chip and Dale we went around the balcony again and got back in line for Minnie.

z18FC0830SD352.jpg

z18FC0830SD353.jpg

We decided to check out Preludes and see if Goofy was still meeting folks and he was!

[Continued from Previous Post]

And then here’s where things got a little silly. I said, “can we take some without the characters?”

Fran says to me, “Do you mind if I take a spin through the shops again?”

Me thinking she’s going to cruise through and meet me back in line for some more photos, says, “Sure.”

So I’m waiting in line, and getting closer to the front, and no Fran. I let a family go ahead of me. No Fran. So finally I do a solo picture. Or two.

z18FC0830SD365.jpg

z18FC0830SD366.jpg

z18FC0830SD367.jpg

z18FC0830SD368.jpg

Well I go back into the store and here she is with bags and bags of stuff that she had just bought! I was like, “You said you were going to drive through! The photographers close any moment now, the stores are open all night!”

Evidently she didn’t get this part of the situation. So she came back with me and we were able to get one more set of pictures.

z18FC0830SD369.jpg

z18FC0830SD370.jpg

Once the photographers left the Atrium, we went back to our room to relax until dinner. Here’s Fran in our stateroom in her natural habitat.

z18FC0830SD371.jpg

We were going back to Palo as the menu in the MDR (which was shipwide) did not appeal to any if us. We watched the last of Moana and were a tiny bit late for dinner because I had to stay til the end of the credits and see the crab scene. That always cracks me up!

When we got to dinner Fran was feeling as if she was going to throw up, she said that she would stick around but that she really didn't want to eat anything. We were served our antipasto plates, mine without olives, of course.

z18FC0830SD372.jpg

z18FC0830SD373.jpg

At this point Fran excused herself and went back to the room. She just wasn't feeling well at all. I vowed that we would get her checked out upon returning from Phoenix which was the week after the cruise.

Both Jill and I ordered the same things until dessert. We started off with the Tuscan Bean soup. This was nothing like I remembered and Diogo told us that they had changed the recipe recently. Instead of the creamy blended soup I remembered it looked like a bowl of beans in their juice. It was tastier than that, but it was a little bit of a disappointment.

z18FC0830SD374.jpg

Then I had the spinach gnocchi in gorgonzola sauce. Jill and I had split this the other night, not realizing how small the portion was. I was very happy to have the order to myself, and I used some of the bread to sop up every last bit of sauce. Diogo and everyone at the table teased me about licking the plate.

z18FC0830SD375.jpg

Before the Main Course we were served a palate cleanser.

z18FC0830SD376.jpg

Next I had the Osso Bucco. This was a giant portion and I knew there was no way I was going to finish it, but it was so “fall off the bone" tender and lovely that I couldn't help but try. Also the bone marrow was some of the tastiest I have ever had. Normally I'm not a huge marrow fan, mainly because it doesn't seem to have a lot of taste to it, but this one was really flavorful and I liked it a lot.

z18FC0830SD377.jpg

In the end, I ate a little more than half of it, because I had to save room for dessert!

I don’t remember what Tom ordered, maybe fish, but Diogo demonstrated his technique of squeezing the juice out of the lime without touching it in his hands.

z18FC0830SD378.jpg

The dessert of all desserts! The Amaretto Souffle!

z18FC0830SD379.jpg

z18FC0830SD380.jpg

I really wanted to eat two of them, but I knew I didn't have the stomach for it. Had I been able to eat a second dessert, I would have had the Tiramisu, but I was just too stuffed!

Diogo brought me two cups of the Limoncello, which I thoroughly appreciated!

z18FC0830SD381.jpg

After dinner we followed Tom and Karin to their stateroom to pick up armbands that would get us into the Cabana the next day. And then I went back to the room where Fran was asleep.

Hahaha! Same sort of thing my mom would do on our cruise! Though you did end up with some lovely solo photos!

Actually this is a fun factoid. The Disney Magic and Dream are styled in Art Deco, the Disney Wonder and Fantasy are styled in Art Nouveau.

Now that IS a fun fact!

Totally! We need another shelf for our collection! We can't even display all of our mugs anymore!

#firstworldproblems. LOL!

Here's what I did with my Uh-Oa!

I'm sure he didn't hesitate to make that decision. I'm sure they've had to do it before.

I have no doubt. It was the right decision, but an expensive one.

Our server heard me talking about it at dinner a few nights before and was probably smirking knowing that it would be served again.

LOL!!

LOVE IT!

But before that! The DCA Food & Wine Festival opens today and I have a one bedroom booked for the weekend and Jenny and Jill are coming along to crash in the living room. Even with the rain it still should be a fun filled jam packed weekend!

So much FOMO going on.

My favorite of them all.

This is positively genius!

All caught up again! I have been WAY behind.

I never realized you had those photos done. You might have told us but it completely slipped my mind. They are great!

Dinner at Palo was fun. And yes, you were right nobody really liked the menu in the main dining room that day.

Now I even remember that soup. It really looked unappetizing. We never had the other one, but this one would definitely turn me off.

As for the lime squeezing. I was teasing Diogo that our favourite server on the Wonder had a way to do it and I was just ordering food to see him do it. Diogo then went to show us how does it. :rotfl2:

Can't believe that our cruise together is coming to an end shortly. NO fun getting off the ship, but at least we had the CC day to look forward to. :thumbsup2
