please dont tell me i just spent all that time for nothing..TESTING.........will edit small bit by bit,,please ignore me till I finished...just LOST a LONGGGGGGG post..ok........ maybe its just old age(UGGHHH) or maybe we are just now getting spoiled about hotel rooms(ONE NASTTTYY experince in a crap hole vs a GREAT experince and a nice B& B)..but now,,not only am I considering stayin on WDW property next vacation there..BUT thinking about a MODERATE ONE..WOW..here is why,the value rooms look JUST like rooms at a value type hotel(days inn,,etc) NO FLAMES,,there is NOTHING AT ALL wrong with Days in.However(to me anyway)....the moderate rooms look more like what a room for that price should cost.It seems more"across the board'know what i mean?...DELUXE are just wayyy out of our budget,Moderates are gonna be a stretch/So now my barrage of questions....1) what is your fave moderate hotel at WDW....2) why?.....3) anyway to get a good deal?...4) how was customer service there?.....5) cleaniness?..6) is it worth the extra dollars vs the values?....6)what goodies did ya get?(soaps,,bath salts...etc).....7)what hotel was it comparable to?doubltree, holiday inn,,etc).....8)what made u choose it to begin with?..9)..should i pay xtra for prefered view?...10) or should i save my $$ and get a great room offsite(for room value ONLY...I truly undertand about Disney magic.....thanks!!!!!!!!ok..I am now through...PLEASE work this time....

You might get more responses if you break down your questions. Most people don't like to do a lot of writing in a post.

If you do a search here on the Resorts board you will find many threads about what everyones opinion of the best moderate is.

They are all great.

thanks,,no one has to answer all 10,,just pop it what u feel like,,,I thought i included that,,sorry,,so yeah,,,just answer whatver ya feel like,,short answers are JUST FINE..thanks for ANY input at all,,,thanks again,

The only moderate I've stayed at is CBR, but we loved it. Atmosphere is great, much different than staying in any off-site hotel or B&B. Being on-site offers so much more to the WDW experience, so much easier to use WDW transportation. Well worth it. Request a "preferred" room at CBR, which will put you in the Martinique or Trinidad North sections. Much closer to the food court and main pool.

1) POR

2) I like how the buildings are situated, and love the trundle beds - great when you have a boy and a girl or 3 kids. Food Court is reasonable. Transportation is good. Like the pool. CBR just doesn't appeal to me, and CSR just feels like a convention hotel (although I know many others love it).

3) Many ways. Join AAA and get a discount if available (10% right now); FL Residents get discounts, as do military; check out mousesavers or the codes and rates section of this board; become a CM :rotfl2: ; Check Travelocity/Expedia, etc... - they sometimes have discounted rooms.

4) Great - it wouldn't be my favorite if it stunk now, would it??? :confused3

5) Fairly clean, and I'm kinda OCD when it comes to hotel rooms - I guess I spend too much time watching 20/20/48 Hours/60 Minutes :earseek:

6) I like space, so it's probably worth it for a long trip, although to be frank, I also like the Value Resorts. I prefer ASMovies to the others. We usually choose DVC/Deluxe Resorts.

6) Did you notice you have 2 6s?? :confused3 It's Disney, not the Ritz. You get soap, lotion, shampoo and that's it.

7) Ummm... well... it's comparable to itself :rotfl2: . I honestly can't come up with a good comparison. I guess if I had to make a comparison it would be like this: Think of the Hilton Chain: At the bottom you have Hampton Inn (value) then you have Embassy Suites (Moderate) and then Hilton (Deluxe). Disney is kinda like that without the free breakfast. Value gets you Disney theming, a basic room (nicely themed, with outside hallways), a huge pool and a food court. Moderate gets you a slightly larger room (most still have outside halls), soaps and shampoos in bottles (instead of dispenser), themed pools w/slides; hot tubs, food courts and a sit down restaurant.

8) LOL, our first moderate was when we were upgraded for free from ASSports - it was during a cheerleading competition, and we (having no cheerleaders in our party) were VERY happy!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

9) I wouldn't, but then again, the areas I like usually aren't preferred view anyway...

10) Can't answer this, because I don't stay offsite unless it's to stay over at Universal and do the parks over there. The closest we've come to offsite is DTD, which can be worth it for us if there is a good special going on at the hotels there. We like to be close to the parks, because we don't commando tour, so we need to be able to go back and forth multiple times in a day.

Good luck choosing!

1. The only moderate I have stayed at is CSR and I loved it!
2. The grounds were immaculate, Lago Dorado is pretty, Lying in a hammock on one of the little beaches at night was heavenly, The themeing was much prettier than I expected, Bus Service was great (in '03).
3. There are often great AP rates, and occasionally WDW has a phenomenal package deal.
4. Customer service was fine.
5. Our room was very clean.
6. I think there was some of the mini-bottles of shampoo and lotion and a some little bars of soap.
7. Not sure what I'd compare it to.
8. DH had a convention at CSR to go to so we made it into a family trip.
9. Our room faced Lago Dorado and I loved that - much nicer than a parking lot, although a lot of people don't spend much time in their room.
10. Do not underestimate the power of the Disney Magic!!!!!

hth a little!! :) Michele

well,,i went over to ALL EARS and looked at some pics.It looks like if we do go with a moderate,,it will be one of the Port Orleans(is that the right name)?,,now this is where I am going to sound like a DIVA and I am sooo not.Can i pick the section of each i want to stay in?reason i ask?this is so embarrasing,,but Its also the reason why i did not choose the other 2 MD resorts.I thought some of the bedspreads and shower curtains were just downright UGLY...what si wrong with me/Anyway..some of them were very pretty,,(forgot what sections I liked...maybe magnolia was one/?),I just feel like if I am gonna scrimp and save the extra cash,,i want it to be pleasing to the eye as well.please dont flame me for ragging on the bedspreads but dang some of em are just butt ugly!...so since its now down to one of the PORT ORLEANS,,,which do u like better?

1.Only moderate I have stayed in is CSR

2.Its my favorite because the theme of the southwest reminds me of my home in Texas.

3.I think it is a good deal. You have the Pepper Market that provides hot and tasty food. You have the Maya Grill which provides a romantic, quiet sit down meal. The pool has a nice slide. The pool is huge. There is a big hot tub,a few quiet pools and a very nice walk around the lake. They also have water recreation vehicles for rent and they have just put in new hammocks.

4.I find Customer Service very nice and accomadating. I have never had a single problem with this resorts staff.

5.This resort is very clean. I have never had an issue with the topic.

6. There are discounts through AAA and some travel agencies. You would have to explore a discounts thread or topic. This fall you can stay at a resort for three days or more and get free dining.

7.I compare the hotel to a Ramada Inn in one of the more expensive areas of the country.

8.We decided to go CSR because of a convention last year and fell in love with it.

9.Is it worth the money for a perferred view. I don't think so but everyone has a different idea as to what constitutes the worth of a dollar.

10.Would I stay off site? No! It is just too convenient to everything to stay on site. If the choice is staying off site or not having a vacation, I would stay off site.

I have visited POR and Carribean Beach and just have not been thrilled with them. If you choose a moderate just think of the theme you would most like to wake up to every day. Good Luck.

The only mod we have stayed in was POFQ. It was immaculate, charming, freshly redone, very attractive spread and drapes. We usually stay at WL which is a deluxe and must say that we were just as content at POFQ. For the $$ it was great.

The only moderate I've ever stayed at was POFQ. We really enjoyed it. The room decor was very attractive, housekeeping was just fine, the food court was great, and we loved strolling along the river. I watched for a room only discount code and we got $127 per night (3 of us in the room). I also checked the AP discount when those rates came out, but the price wasn't as good as the room only code.

Good luck! :flower:

We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter. We liked them both. We have stayed off site and with kids, it was just too hard. When you are tired, it is so nice to be able to just get on Disney transportation to get back to your hotel. Also, off site hotels say just minutes away, but it feels like a lot more minutes. Disney also feels safer. I don't know if anyone else feels that way - I have not felt unsafe at other hotels, but I don't worry about my older kids wanting to walk to the food court to get a drink or going outside to feed the ducks. At other hotels that we have stayed at offsite, I would not want the kids wandering around, and also there would not be anything really for them to do anyway.

Yeah, what HookedonWDW said
and...
Boatwrights the table service restaurant has fantastic breakfasts. Plus, you have the boat to DTD and Bob Jackson the fun for all ages piano man in the River Roost Lounge. It's also very nice to relax in a lush Southern Tom Sawyer-ish resort after hectic days in the parks. It's very peaceful there. Happy Choosing!
