A lurker's 1st trip report! Partial Day #4 & another tea party!

Thanks for another great update and pics. That's a shame about the poachers. I have never stayed there and didn't realize it was such a big problem.

I don't know if it is normally a problem as we have never stayed at BC before, but it was ridiculous while we were there! I guess it wouldn't bother me so much if someone was saving one seat, but it was painfully obvious that the groups of people were saving multiple chairs in a row. People would get towels and just lay them identically over the back of the chairs and then go off and do something else. That is just plain rude!

OK, I wasn't going to tell you about this, but it is kind of funny. When I first looked at the pictures of your daughter with Cinderella, I thought: "WOW, you dressed up too! That's a really fancy dress to pack to wear to dinner with the Princesses. You must be a HUGE fan of of Disney to do that!" :lmao:

BTW, my husband is getting better everyday. We have rescheduled for June 1 to 7th, so we were able to add a day too. We took a mini vacation over Easter up to the Geneva on the Lake Lodge that's only an hour away and very relaxing.

Great TR.
Rhonda

I meant to add that I am happy your DH is doing better. I'm glad you at least got to take a few days away over the holiday, even if it wasn't quite the same as being at Disney! Now you can spend some more time fine tuning your plans for your June trip!!!

What was odd though, was that there were only like 5 people in the pool and about 10 people actually occupying the lounge chairs. This was at 9:15, the pool had been open for 15 minutes and all of these chairs were already taken?:confused3 I had read about the chair poachers but it irked me to see it for myself. It was totally obvious that numerous people had grabbed 4 or 6 towels each and just thrown them over the backs of chairs and then bailed to go have breakfast or go to the parks for a couple hours or whatever.

It IS annoying isn't it? We have been going to WDW for about 12 years, the majority of our visits we have stayed at the YC and since becoming DVC members, BCV. The table & lounge chair "saving" is so ridiculous! If there aren't any personal items, we just move the towels now. :rolleyes1
PS~enjoying your TR! Great job.:goodvibes

I'm with you...move the towels next time. That is just about the most silly thing I have read! What are we in Jr. High people? :confused3 I have heard this happening on the DCL, but at a resort pool, where many of the guests are owners...silly...

Glad to hear she had a great time pretending she was a fish. I hope you enjoyed your quite time resting by the pool! I love the pics...I really want to go there!

Awesome trip report. :) Really enjoyable to read. Your daughter is too adorable. :) Can't wait to read the next installment. :)

I have never seen the "poachers" either. But they are there...I have seen their towels...

I just started your TR today and it is great!! I cannot wait to hear how your DD liked the Tea Party. Our 4 yr old DD did it in December and had a blast!!:wizard:

More of Day 3--will it ever end?

Where was I? Oh yes, DD had just finished swimming. She doesn't do very well with any slight variation in temperature, so the fact that just a few clouds were covering up the bright sunshine was enough for her to want get out of the pool (even though the water was really warm!)

What to do now? It was now 11:00 and we had about 2 hours to kill before we needed to leave for the Wonderland Tea Party and DH had to leave for DS's baseball game. We decided to take a walk over to the Boardwalk and see what it was like. We took a right out of the BC and headed toward the YC. It was a very pleasant walk and we had a nice view of SAB and the lake. The Swolphin was in the distance and we were able to get a good look at everything. Here are some photos from our walk:

It was about a 5 to 10 minute walk to the BWI from the lobby of BC. We were kind of poking though, so I'm sure it wouldn't normally take that long. We spent about an hour browsing through the shops, making pressed pennies and just taking in the sights. DH and I decided that we will come back here Saturday night instead of going to PI/DTD for our adults only evening. There wasn't too much going on during the time we were there, but I know it will be more of a happening spot once the sun goes down. We spent the most time in the ESPN store. DD was finding all kinds of stuff she wanted and so was I! I figured we better start heading back so we continued around the circle and got to see a Disney bride! What a beautiful day for a wedding! I just hoped that those nasty seagulls wouldn't bother them. Those things are terrible! They are very agressive and it doesn't bother them at all to buzz right by your head!!

Back in the room DD was all pumped up about getting into her Alice dress. She decided last night after dinner with Cindy that she had to have an outfit just like Alice also. I tried to talk her out of it, but she insisted that she wanted to spend $40 of her own money on it, so I gave in. I am really glad I did, because she looked really cute in it! Instead of making the journey thru EPCOT to the monorail, DH dropped us off at the Poly where DD and I walked thru the shops and made a few purchases before we headed over to the GF. We checked in at the podium at 1900 Park Fare and the hostesses there already had everything ready. I just signed my ticket, gave them a cell phone number and we were done! In 5 minutes they let the kids in and said we could help them find a seat but then we had to leave! I escorted DD to a seat at the end of the table and took a few pics. My flash didn't go off, so they arent too clear but I'll post them below. They had set up a bunch of tables end to end and had them decorated with confetti, teapots and cups, characters and delicious looking snacks. I could smell the cake frosting, yum! Boo hoo, I wish I could have watched the party but I did send DD with her own camera so hopefully she can take some pictures of her own. Oh well, this ends up giving me time to go get Easter basket fixins.

Oh my gosh! She looks so sweet in her Alice costume!!! :goodvibes I'm glad you let her get it! I can't wait to hear how the party went! I'm also interested to hear about your adult night out!!!

Love your trip report, Im new to the board and loving all the ideas I am getting for our trip in October.

My most expensive Easter basket ever!

I love Easter, I always have. It is one of my favorite holidays and I always go overboard. I just can't help it. Before we left, I made a stop at Wal Mart and bought a bunch of Easter basket fillers. Candy, toys, trinkets, filled eggs, coloring books and crayons, stuffed animals, etc. I spent quite a bit of $ at Wallyworld and figured I had just about everything! Of course, that was before I saw that the shops at Disney were all making their own baskets! For $5, you could pick out whatever items you wanted and they would place them in a large white basket, shrink wrap it so the items would stay in place and place a nice large bow at the top. Plus, they offered delivery to your resort so it could be a surprise. No big shock here, but I went somewhat crazy! I picked out Jasmine shoes, wand and crown (we are having lunch with the Princesses Saturday and DD is dressing like her, luckily I bought the costume already so I don't have to shell out the $ for that!) a bunch of pins, a stuffed Eeyore in an egg, candy, Easter mouse ears , a Pal Mickey outfit and some other small stuff that I don't even recall. Well, it is now $95 later (and remember, I already spent a small fortune at WM before we left) and I am kicking myself. Does DD really need all this? No, of course not, but I can already see the expression on her face when she receives it and that makes it ok in my eyes. DH might not feel the same when he gets the bill! The lady who rings me up says that it will be delivered to our room on Saturday. That will work out great as long as DD isn't there when it arrives. Now that I have gone so overboard on DD, I decide I need a treat myself! I still had about 40 minutes before I had to get DD, so I explored the grounds of the GF for awhile. It is such a beautiful place and I really don't find it stuffy at all.:snooty: I know a lot of people think of it as kind of snooty but that isn't the vibe I get at all. For some reason, I didn't take any pictures during my walking tour of the GF, which is really too bad because it was the most beautiful day outside! Because of this I decided to get a seat at the pool bar and enjoy the little bit of time I had for myself. I ordered a creamsicle from the bartender. He asked "with alcohol??" Yet again, I guess you don't know me very well!!:rolleyes1 It was a frozen concoction with orange vodka, cream, orange juice and ice I think. It was really good and nice and cold on a warm sunny day. I sat at the bar and decided to call my mom to tell her what a fantastic time we were having. We chatted for a bit, I finished my cocktail and then it was time to fetch DD. When I got back to the podium, I could hear the children screaming.....good screams---the kind where you are having so much fun you're just shreiking! I could actually pick out DD's high pitched squeal! I could also hear them running around the restaurant. It sounded like so much fun. But then, there was silence! I don't know how they managed to get the kids to all be quiet so quickly but somehow they did! If you don't want to know the surprise, skip ahead otherwise I am going to spoil it for you! The hostess came out and told us that the children were all asleep! Ha ha, right!! We were all allowed to come in where we saw all of the kids with their heads on the table, being quiet as could be, pretending to be asleep. Then, they all jumped up and presented the parents with a bouquet of flowers! It was really sweet and a nice touch.

I tried to get DD to give me the details of the party, but she hasn't been doing too good of a job! Her main thought is that is was just so much fun! They decorated their cupcakes using their fingers. She said the Mad Hatter was hilarious and that they chased him around the room because he and Alice kept on tricking them. She loved Alice and was fortunate enough to get to sit next to her. They ate pb & j sandwiches cut into heart shapes, grapes, cake and "apple bumble tea." Each child was given an autographed polaroid photo of themselves with MH and Alice. It was really a neat event and for the $30, I would definitely let DD do it again. For her, it was one of the highlights of the trip. Also, unlike the Princess meals, she was the only child dressed like Alice. That made her feel really special because Alice kept calling her "Alice." When I checked her camera later, I was happy to find that the CM's had taken a pic of DD with MH and Alice in addition to the polaroid. That was nice of them.

I think DD did a pretty good job taking pictures with a digital camera!!

After a fun filled afternoon in Wonderland it was time to head back to the resort to wait for Dad. We grabbed the monorail to EPCOT and made our way through FW. On the way we noticed the butterfly garden, :hippie: which was somewhere I had planned on visiting. We figured we had plenty of time so we went to explore it. It was a small, round, screened room full of flowers and butterflies. They had little signs explaining the the different types of butterflies and there was a box containing a bunch of coccoons waiting to hatch. It was a nice exhibit.

A couple of the butterflies we saw:

From there we decided it was so warm we needed something to cool us off so we stopped in WS at the McDonald's place for a McFlurry. I ordered it and when I went to hand the CM my card, she stated that we were the Magical Family of the Hour and our order would be free! That was such a nice surprise!! So, if we are keeping count, that is somewhere around 4 things we have gotten free and it is only our 2nd day on property!! It really is the small things that can just make your day!:cheer2:

Here are just a couple more of her in the Alice outfit. Who is the giant ape? We didn't get his autograph, so I don't have a clue!

DD told Chip "my dad's name is Chip too!" I wish I had gotten a picture of him giving her the thumbs up!:thumbsup2

DD enjoyed wearing her dress this afternoon because every CM we came across addressed her as Alice. She kept saying to me "Don't they know I'm not really Alice?!?!";)

We got back to the BC around 3:15 and I was starving so we stopped in BC Marketplace and I got a kid's meal. It was a ham and cheese roll with grapes and carrots. It was 1 CS credit and it was actually quite tasty. I know, I shouldn't be getting a kid's meal, but I was hungry but I didn't want to ruin my appetite for dinner at CP tonight!:rolleyes1 I chowed down and we decide to head for the quiet pool. I left DH a note saying to come and meet us and/or we would return by 5:30. It was kind of hard to locate the pool but we finally made it. I was actually brave today and put on a swimsuit! :scared1: It was just so warm that I would have felt silly not wearing one and I figured I could maybe pick up a little sun. The quiet pool was crowded but not uncomfortable. DD got right in and I sat on the side and kept her company. The water was bath like and the sun was hot! I ended up talking to a nice family who was trying to find a place to have dinner. They had called this morning and made reservations at the Yachtsman, but the wife told me that they don't eat meat! I thought that was funny that of all places to decide to eat, they chose a steakhouse!! Anyway, she said they would probably change to YC Galley. I would have liked to have helped her with a recommendation, but I didn't know anything firsthand, just what I have read. Anyway, we ended up only staying about an hour and then went back up to the room. Come on, it was 5:20 and they had alcohol out in the lounge....let's hurry!!!!

By the time we got back in the room, DH had just arrived. I sent him for a cocktail and DD and I got showered and changed for dinner. We have ADR's for CP tonight at 7:20 and then we are planning on doing EMH (open till 3am!!) at MK if DD can handle it. We'll see.....once she gets tired she goes downhill fast, so after all of the fun today we might be calling it an early night!

Up next, my review of CP and what we did at MK tonight. Are you getting bored yet?? I had no idea I was sooooo long winded and because of that, this is taking WAY longer than I ever imagined. I hope those of you that are reading are enjoying my TR! Unfortunately, I have a long way to go before I am done. See ya'll tomorrow!

DD really enjoyed dressing up as Alice. I got her dress a couple of sizes too big so she can be sure to get some use out of it! Halloween is now taken care of !:cool1:

Thanks for the info. I hate to admit it but I don't believe I have ever seen the Jungle Book!!!! But, I bet I have watched Peter Pan 20 times since it came out on DVD!

The tea party looks so nice! You really should frame the pic of your DD and Alice, that is the cutest. I love that your TR is so long! I really enjoy the daily updates! Have a great evening! Will look for more tomorrow :)

The tea party was really great and I love that picture of DD, Alice and MH! I just told her that we need to get it enlarged and framed. I'm glad you don't mind that my TR is so excruciatingly long! I just don't want to miss any details that could possibly help someone out.

I love Alice and your DD looked sooooo cute in that outfit!!

looks like so much fun!!!

Another great installment! I especially loved the photos of the Y & BC/BW. I cannot wait to be back there again!

I almost forgot.....we were lucky enough to get another towel animal today. We left mousekeeping an envelope this morning and I don't know if that helped (especially since we had already received a washcloth animal on check in day ), but I guess it didn't hurt! We had so much stuff in our room that our poor mousekeeping girl had to clean around I believe I should have doubled what I left her!

Aren't they adorable? The animals we received all looked like they had a lot of time and effort put into making them. It sure made us feel special! And, yes, we did keep them in case anybody is wondering!:rolleyes1 I don't know if that is allowed/encouraged/accepted but I read somewhere that they like for you to take them home as keepsakes....please don't flame me if I wasn't supposed to!!!!:furious:

Here are a couple of better pics:
