I was going to post this on the pet peeve thread but can't get to it ( search disabled) so here goes
loved our recent trip, and came across very few problems ( one REALLY crazy woman in epcot who didn't want to wait her turn and screamed and lied that I had cut in front of her( said she saw me come into the *store* after she did(??guess that is a new rule, who ever gets to the park first gets dibs for first in line all day maybe??) but evidently did not notice me standing in the actual* line* for 10 mins before she chose to up to the side to cut in just as it was my turn ) but really just minimal problems
BUT these 2 seemed to be repeat problems
the strollers that disney rents are a great help I am sure for parents with little ones but a number of times we were actually run off the path by families with these giant vehicles. the senario was usually mom beside dad pushing the giant thing and sometimes older brother/sister beside Mom or dad..fine EXCEPT many of the narrower paths (Ak espc) only fit that many people so anyone walking the other way had to either step aside, walk single file or get run off the road. since the family is taking up way more than 1/2 the walkway ( which is not "one way" but has a"lane " for each direction of traffic) wouldn't it be nice to step behind the one pushing the stroller so other families could walk together on their side of the path? some people obviously just weren't thinking but some seemed determined it was their "right " to take up the whole walkway and tough for you. I would say at least 60% of the time my husband and I walked single file through narrower paths at AK due to this stroller problem and guess what, we would have liked to walk beside each other and talk too! another related problem is people would park these things right next to the fences to see the animals then take the kids out and hold them so they basically were taking up twice the "viewing " space they needed. they could have parked the stroller out of the way if they were going to hold the kids any way. sometimes there is this "we have kids so we get all the room" attitude that is really annoying and rude.
gripe number 2
if you want to video tape the parade from behind after it has passed, do it from some place out of the general walk way...at ak ( again) 2 people were walking at snail's pace behind the end of the parade video taping it , right along the right outer edge so you needed to go past them to exit the throng of packed in sardines to get to anything..we were hemmed in by 2 giant stollers behind , one on the inside and these two goofs all the way to Asia from africa and they repeatedly ignored our "excuses me's' since we had been trying to turn off since Camp Mickey and they would not stop filming. finally I just pushed my way in front of them ( since the strollers could cause some serious ankle damage as well as a flattened kid if I fell on it while trying to get past) and they lost it and started screaming at me but guess what, if you really need 20 mins of the back of Mickey's head at least step towards the left side of the road or let others pass cause they might want to do something too! we ended up skipping the AK parade because of this the second day we were there
ok, end of gripes
