A Halloween Adventure in Autism (11/7) Prayer Request for Catie (p.129)

Poor Billy :(

... I had this really weird dream last night that I met you, Tricia, and Billy in the MK...

The Magic Kingdom pops up a lot in my dreams!

Everynight when I wish Billy "sweet dreams" he always adds "about Walt Disney World!" :cloud9:

That's exactly what I was thinking! :thumbsup2

I'm anxious to hear how Billy was as the day progressed.

I'll try not to keep everyone in suspense too long, Michelle. It can be hard keeping up with reports! (I'm trying to be better about it and get this thing finished by the end of the summer!) :lmao:

:( Poor everyone.
I'm LOLing at your comment about being a big baby.

Really, when did my sweet girl become such a ..... teenager??

Kathy

Ah yes.... the Fairy Godmother. That is her usual spot! You must have been thinking about Billy constantly all morning. I'd be a teary mess I think.

I was thinking about him... and praying that he's be better soon! :lovestruc

Oh, poor Billy, that breaks my heart that he felt so bad and was still begging to go to the Magic Kingdom. :sad1: I can just imagine how you felt!

On our first trip with the kids Justin got sick and had to miss a day at MK and dinner at CP, Don ended up staying with him because he had his laptop and had work he could do, while I took Jared to the park and to have a meal with Pooh - a little deja vu here!

I feel for Tricia - my motabolism is like hers, I could never eat a plate like Catie's and not pay for it later. The rest of my family doesn't have the same problem as I do though - sometimes life is just not fair!

My sister jokes that when she stands next to Catie, they look like the number 10! :rotfl: We often comiserate on why we didn't get her metabolism...

We really did have similar situations, didn't we? The CP...one child sick...hubby volunteering to stay behind!

I'm sure that everyone runs into a situation like ours if they go to WDW with any frequency. Funny thing is... in the weeks leading up to the trip I was an absolute fanatic about using Clorox wipes and having the kids wash their hands constantly. I guess if you're going to catch a virus, there's just nothing you can do to prevent it!

Kathy

Tricia and Catie returned. Catie’s plate was piled high with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles and a Danish. Tricia brought back a small dish of watermelon cubes and a hard-boiled egg. Do you see how slender Catie is and how curvy my daughter is? I tell ‘ya, Life just isn’t fair…why oh why can’t we all be born with that kind of metabolism? :sad2:
Kathy

Isn't Catie's thinness a symptom of her Marfan's Syndrome? Being thin would be nice, but it hardly seems worth the trade-off.

Actually, I believe her height and the length of her extremities are related to the Marfan's. Fortunately, she doesn't have any GI symptoms!

Oh Kathy... I can't even imagine how you must have felt leaving Billy behind at the resort! :sad2:

I hope he got to see the Magic Kingdom!

It was rough.... but rest assured, with the help of some itinerary juggling Billy did get some MK time eventually!

Kathy

Oh poor Billy and poor you. We had a similar situation later in our trip as well. I love the mosaic work in the castle. I really enjoyed them while we waited for our CRT ressie

Poor Billy -- a box of Cheerios instead of a trip to the Magic Kingdom. I was glad to read that he makes it there later in the trip.

I agree about Disney's prices on medicine -- back in 2008, Charles had some stomach problems, and I was shocked at the cost! Now, I pack a veritable pharmacy whenever we go.

Your pictures of an empty Main Street are just gorgeous, and I love that view of the castle from the Crystal Palace! :goodvibes

So many people just rush on by them... seems a shame not to stop for something so lovely!

Thanks! I thought I did pack a pharmacy, kind of, just not enough orange medicine! I'll never do that again!

I'm sure Billy has lots and lots of sweet WDW dreams :cloud9:

Yes he does... as do I! (Although I provbably have more Disney dreams when I'm awake!)

Poor Billy. I know it was hard to leave him but a little girl time is always fun.

Poor Billy and Poor Mom!

Poor Ed too as I imagine Billy was none too thrilled by the outcome.

I am glad Ed "made" you go and you had some girl time. Catie's plate cracks me up, reminds me of being her age. If I could only eat like that now!

It does catch up. Eventually. :rotfl:

The dreaded I don't knows....I know it pushes my buttons!

I hope your call back to resort finds a broken fever and a sleeping beautiful boy.

I'm packing extra motrin after reading those prices, we don't use anything else either!

I can only imagine how hard it was to leave Billy and Ed back at the resort. I'm afraid to even type this but we've been lucky to avoid sickness at WDW so far. Luckily though my kids are non-liquid medicine takers, they will only do pills and I'm always fully stocked on Ibuprofin.

I hope your call to the resort finds him feeling a bit better.

The indecisiveness (sp?) must be a teen thing, my DD13 can't make a decision to save her soul! I'm constantly getting "I don't know, what do you think?" from her.

Kathy I ditto everyone's sentiments about the struggle of leaving a very sick child behind...especially at the MK...we've luckily only split up once as a family during the 08 trip, when Nathan had his fill...I was so bummed not to be going back to the park and when Matt said go...I did :thumbsup2 but yes it would have been more of this :guilty: if he was sick.

glad you and Ed worked it out and are making the best of it. Can't wait to see/hear who you met...

J~

Yes, I was definitely happy that they didn't have to miss out!

You're right, not only was I feeling guilty about leaving Billy, I was feeling guilty about leaving Ed with the burden of caring for him. :guilty:

And for some reason Tricia was being very irritable that week. I found out later that it must have been PMS.

Ack! Please don't jinx yourself by saying that!! (J/K)
Having two 13 year olds at once was quite the experience, although I must admit that my neice was being more agreeable that Tricia.

You know the feeling... if you could switch places with them and be the "sick one" instead, you would! Especially since it wasn't just a case of the sniffles...

Aw, poor Billy! :( :( :( I got extremely sick on our first trip and it really put a damper on everything. I was so sad. I hope that Billy ended up feeling better soon. Poor kiddo.

I LOVE your Main Street picture. The fall decorations and it being so empty just gave me a huge smile. Awesome!!

Great updates, I need to find some time to update my report.

I just want to say, even with the stress of Billy being sick you were so thoughtful that morning. It was sweet of you to take a picture of my family together. It was so funny that we were eating in the same restaurant but didn't bump into each other again. I wondered about Billy for the rest of the day and kept hoping we would see you guys with Billy feeling better....we didn't bump into you again so I wonder how bad things got, poor little guy.
