A Guide to Going to Disney on Your Birthday!

:ccat: What a brilliant thread!

I'm going to WDW next year for my 21st birthday, so this thread has been very helpful! I'm a bit shy though, so I'll be giving the shirts a miss. :) But I can't wait to get those birthday pins!

We are going for my 3 nephew's birthday....believe it or not, the 3 brothers all have the same birthday. They will be 6,6 & 3. I know people will think we are "fudging". I could make for some fun!

We will be there for our 25th anniversary on Sept 4th and my 48th birthday on Sept 7th but that is the day we leave so we won't be there all day on the 7th. I think we only have up until 5 and then have to be back to the resort to get picked up by ME to leave. Do they have anniversary pins as well? We will be eating at Le Cellier for our anniversary.
Should I still do a birthday pin for the park that we will still go to for the morning of the 7th?

We will be there for my 53rd birthday (also Sept 7th) and our 25th anniversary on Sept. 11th. I've never run into anyone who shares the same birthday and was married only a week apart!.

Definitely wear a birthday pin and also the anniversary pin - that's what i plan to do.

Hope you have a very happy birthday and wonderful celebration ! pixiedust:

On our last trip in Feb of 2007 my dh and I both celebrated our 50th birthdays and our 32 anniversary. We wore our birthday pins the first part of the trip and our anniversary pins the last part of our trip. We loved it.

If you walk in the EPCOT entrance from the back, by France from the BW/BC side, if the security guards see your pin, they'll ask if Goofy has wished you a happy b-day yet. Of course, you say no, so the guard will call a number on the security phone and you'll get one cool b-day wish!!!!

I may get a smackdown for saying this, but...

It's considered by many CMs to be in extremely bad form to demand perks on your birthday.

If a CM sees your Happy Birthday button and offers your party Fastpasses, or a cupcake, or a magical moment certificate, or a phone call, awesome! But if they don't... please don't demand it, as none of these things are something birthday guests are automatically entitled to.

The following is a transcript of an encounter that happened to me while working FastPass Return at an attraction a year or so ago. I was standing there when a party of three (mother, DD, and DS) came up. DD had a "Happy Birthday!" button on, and all three started to walk past me.

CM: Excuse me, folks. Fastpasses, please?

MOM (icily): It's her birthday.

CM: I see that. Happy Birthday, Suzie!

MOM: So she gets to ride everything without waiting, right?

CM: Well, not that I've ever been told. If that were the case, every single person here would be having a birthday.

MOM: Well, thanks for RUINING her DAY!

CM: Sorry you feel that way, ma'am. Fastpasses are available to your right. Have a good day.

The really sad part? If Mom had approached me and asked, "It's little Suzie's birthday, and I was wondering if you had any extra Fastpasses... please?" I would have been more than happy to oblige her.

Remember: Attitude is EVERYTHING.

Maybe we will run into each other with the pins on. I guess I should do the birthday pin for a couple days since I won't be there for my whole birthday on the 7th. Maybe the 6th & 7th is good.

You have a great time too!!!!

thanks for posting that buzz.
It's fun when you get unexpected perks. It's not cool when you think you get them.

And as I tell the little kids, it doesn't have to be your birth"day", you're at disney, you get to celebrate it for a whole week. Of course they get giddy over that.
I wore my birthday button for three days, it's a lot of fun when guest tell you happy birthday, and it's fun to find others that have it on the same day.

A bump, this great idea thread is too far back.

Thanks for the great post! I'll be celebrating my 40th in WDW in 10 days!!!!!!

I love it when women "of a certain age" have on a birthday button. After wishing them a happy birthday, I usually "guess" their age at 19 or 20. You'd be amazed how many of them blush and then agree. :bday:

I also like to ask moms and daughters if they're sisters. Mom says yes, and DD almost always says (in an exasperated voice) "No, this is my MOM!"

I spent my 44th birthday at the MK before I became a cast member. That day was what made me decide to apply to work there.

Ask me about it sometime.

I was in WDW for my 32nd birthday (and hurricane Wilma!) but I generally don't like attention, so we kept it quiet. Maybe I will be ready for some real celebration on my 40th:banana:

Please tell us your story One Year Pin!:wizard:

:confused3 Thanks for all the tips. Not sure if this was asked but my friends ds will turn 9 this July and we will be there on his birthday. :dance3: Is there anyway for him to be part of a parade?????

Thanks,

We are coming all the way from Australia in order to celebrate my son's birthday the disney way, so there is no way we will not do most of this stuff to call attention to him!

I didn't read all the pages. ;X But even getting pictures with CM would be a cool birthday thing.
