A great big pickle...sigh.

Aha...the devil's advocate! Love it. :) I really do want to try a different resort. I'm just so scared that it won't measure up to our CBR love. :hippie: KWIM? This is such a special trip for us...it just has to be perfect. I used to be such a risk taker. Now? Notsomuch. :sad2: Thanks for your input. It's gratefully appreciated. :)

I did this with our last trip to WDW. We are in love with CSR. Our first visit there was Heaven! :cloud9: Our next trip, I booked POFQ which I think is beautiful. But I was constantly worried that we would be disappointed and wishing we were at CSR. After about 6 weeks, I called my TA and switched. I don't know if I would have liked POFQ or not, but at least I knew I would love CSR, and didn't have it hanging over my head making me anxious! (Last year I took the high road... we went on the cruise instead!) For our next trip, I am again debating between CBR pirate rooms, and POFQ. BUT... :confused3 We'll see what happens!

Greysword:

Well look at you being all logical n' stuff! :worship: I don't want logical, man. I want practical! :rotfl:

Seriously, you make very valid points and it all makes total sense. I have a very tough decision to make. I've never stayed in a "deluxe" hotel in my life. Heck, I've never paid over $200 for a hotel room in my life! :lmao:

And yes, your math is right on. :thumbsup2 Two cookies for you!

Just to add to the already difficult decision - only so many king rooms at any resort, so wherever the std ones are located in your view...unless, of course you're dusted with some nice Savannah view upgrade magic.

When we lived in Boston, we decided we'd never stay at WL because who wants to see pine trees in FL??? We wanted palm trees and tropical magic, so our first several stays were at the Poly (and CR, but mostly Poly), the CBR opened and wow....tropical for less $$$. LOVED it...we don't love it as much with the Nemo or Pirate theme, b/c we absolutely loved the tropical curtains and shower curtain....news one do nothing for us, so no more CBR stays until it goes back to tropical flowers. :(

Maybe I'd go with AKL and ask at check-in for a std room with a king bed and nicest possible view - with your sweetest smile and wishful sigh???? You know.... "I know we have a std view, but is there possibly one with a king bed and nice view, please?" ;)

Oh we don't need a king bed at a deluxe. We are more than happy to have a queen bed. Now I am just worried that we're going to end up with a garbage can view. :( After all we've been through to get to have this amazing trip...that would really stink. :rotfl:

I hear you on the pine trees. I live in Canada. "nuff said. :rotfl2:

Oh yes. I can do the wishful sigh and batty eye thing. No problem! Hubby says I do it quite well. :flower3:

I was thisclose to booking CSR. From the reviews and pictures I've seen, it seems every bit as beautiful as CBR. The only thing that kept me from doing it is the dining. The set up at the Pepper Market does not turn my crank at all. The tip thing irks me too. Dumb reason, eh?

Oh, you know you'll book CSR next year. Just you wait and see!

Have you looked into a King bed room at WL other than the honeymoon Suite? Because it is a honeymoon suite and on the CL is why it is so expensive...I'd bet you could get a King Inner Courtyard room with the QSDP and save $$$. I personally would do WL over AKL. AKL is beautiful, but WL is MUCH more convenient, with the boat to MK, as well as CR and Ft Wilderness. With AKL the ONLY transportation you have is the busses. I'd definately consider the King room at CBR, too..I've always wanted to try that resort, but can't get past the 2 doubles...I like my bigger beds. But if It was just DH and I , I would love to try the King there. Whatever you decide, you will have a magical time!

Oh...I'll take a Mickey rice Krispie treat instead of a cookie, please!

Dang man! This thread is becoming my soap opera. :lmao:

Girl, you better post when you make your decision. This is worse than waiting for the finale of American Idol. popcorn::

Okay here's another thought...... On my lunch break I was thinking again about how much I loved WL and for giggles I looked it up on youtube. Did you know that people have postings on there that show full walk throughs from their own personal experiences????? maybe seeing some of those will help with your decision. don't ruin your vacation by spending too much time stressing over this. Any decision you make will be great!!!

OMG. I just busted out laughing and woke the dog up. :rotfl2: The pressure is overwhelming. My head is spinning. I feel... faint.

Hubby just called from work and I asked him which resort he preferred. His answer? "Whichever one you are happy with, dear." D'oh! :thumbsup2 Right on, honey. That's just what I wanted to hear. Le sigh.

Three more days to decide...:rolleyes1

Yay i get a cookie!:lmao: ok i think you should go with the AKL deal. The property is BEAUTIFULL and their restaurants are great (but a little pricy)
You can rent night vision goggles there too! Have a fantabulous time!:mickeyjum

Oh bless you for thinking of me on your lunch break. You really do deserve a whole bag of cookies! :)

Youtube? Are you serious?! People will do anything, won't they? I will go take a peek. Thank you!

While the hubby and I absolutely LOVE CBR!! I would definitely shoot for AKL if it's only $100 more. I haven't read all the way through this soap opera ;), but would like to ask when in August you would be traveling? I would suggest going during Free Dining and booking AKL. When did they start charging for King beds at CBR?? We've stayed there over and over again with the latest trip Nov 2008 and we weren't charged for King beds during the trips we wanted a king.

AKL is just amazing and will be very romantic for the two of you!!

MariaEllerºoº

We are travelling July 31- Aug 9 so are not able to take advantage of the free dining. I'm happy with a queen bed at a deluxe. It just can't be a double, per hubby's one and only request. LOL

When I checked the rates and rooms available online, a king room was more than a standard. It was the same charge as for a preferred room. :confused3 Hrm...

I was 80% decided on AKL until I realized that standard view is a crapshoot :( View is kinda important to me. This is our once in a lifetime trip. I've never stayed in a deluxe hotel in my life. I would be crushed if we had to look at a roof gutter or garbage bin for a view.

I really really want to try a new resort but I am too chicken to take that last leap over the line. I need a push! :lmao: But make it gentle, please. ;)

I don't think you can go wrong. However, since you have a sweet romantic hubby, why not show him videos/pictures of the 3 and let him help you decide?

That way the decision is shared by both of you good or bad. My hubby and I find that we can laugh off "bumps" in the road if we were both part of choosing the route.

Share the glory and share the blame. No hurt feeling or feeling like you let each other down.

Congrats on the big 40 and your anniversary!

Whew. I am just exhausted. What a day going back and forth with this. I almost had my mind made up and then, nope! Still not sure. Gah!!! I'm darn near cross eyed from staring at all the different scenarios. :headache: I think I've ready every.single.thread on Allears.net and several dozen threads here. Boy ya'll talk alot on these boards! :rotfl:

I'm plum out of cookies for today. I think I will offer cheesecake tomorrow.

Sweet dreams! Thanks for the points to ponder. I think. :lmao:

OK ... I'm going to throw out something completely different. What about renting DVC points for a nice 1 bedroom villa at Old Key West? You can add the DDP to your stay with no required park passes. Old Key West is a lot like CBR in a tropical/Jimmy Buffet kind of way. The rooms are HUGE You have a king bed in the bedroom and a very nice living room and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. I'm not sure if there is availability, but it's something you can look into. Also ... since you would be renting points in the next 60 days you probably won't have to pay top dollar for them ... I bet you could find someone to rent to you for $10 per point. If the King bed is *really* not that important to you then you may be able to book a Studio which is much smaller (about the same size as a Deluxe) but half the price of a 1 BR.

Given the choice between AKL and CBR, I would choose AKV as long as you get a savannah view. It's a really great resort and we're stying there on our next trip :).

Ok. Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but... DVC points virgin here! :scared1: We know ZERO about DVC. Zip. Nada. Renting points? You are speaking a foreign language to me! Nothing wrong with trying to educate myself so I'll mosey on over to *that* board and see what I can find out. If it is too overwhelming for me, I'm coming back here!

Thank you for the suggestion. :) I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Hrmmm... what exactly can you see with those night vision goggles? :rolleyes1

Luvvsmickey,

Oh man I think I would rather 5 boys over 4 girls...propps to you :worship:!! One is enough for me and she is only 9....:rotfl: Also my dh is the romantic, I would sleep on the floor as long as I was at Disney....:rotfl2: Man I dont envy you...you have a hard decision to make. So do you think if when you called you could let the CM know how important this is to you and ask if they could put in the ressie if possible to put you in one of the few good view stds? :confused3!!! I would still go for the AKL as the money thing would be an issue for me having all these kids.......:rotfl2:

Good Luck in whatever you decide and let us all know!!!! BTW you are coming to Disney on my dd BD....lol!!! :cheer2:

Any decision this morning? I admit to feeling guilty since it was my post about the std views that threw a wrench into the almost made decision. Wish I could say how truly sorry I feel, but it's a big chance you're taking with the std view - AKL is known to upgrade, but would be awful if you put all your hope into that an got a terrible view....

Still, if you request a nice view on the reservation I think you have a good chance of at least one of the rooms with a distance view of the Savannah.....wish I could find the post..oh, maybe I saved the info.....darn..nope, didn't save it....will try a search to see if I can find that post.

I'm going out on a limb and suggest to just go with AKL....it would be really hard for me to do, but in the end, if I did not have a better option (knowing I'd get a great view at any resort) then why not give AKL a try? At worst, if it is an awful view you can ask for another room and if not, it will be a trip to remember. ;)
