i am planning our sept 2011 wedding and would like to tell my family about some hotels that are nice, convenient and most importantly great value for money.

we have stayed at pop which i plan to tell them about but we have mostly stayed on site so not sure about non disney hotels. I believe that they will be going to disney but maybe not as religiously as we do so if they could be fairly close by that would be helpful

thanks in advance

I stick with Pop for a good value suggestion. That's exactly what we're doing for our wedding.

We're recommending Pop, CSR, AKL and GF as our resorts (we get a discount on them with our wedding room block which is really competetive.)

I have just been honest in our information packs and said we aren't experts on off site hotels but xx is a reliable site for booking a villa and to check tripadvisor if they are itnerested in any I-Drive hotels. (A few of my DIS friends have had bad I-Drive experiences) So we have said we would feel happier if they stayed on-site - as that's the truth!

I was going to suggest Pop too. If they want to do non-Disney things, it's close enough to move off property with ease and minimal driving/taxi fares. :thumbsup2

I just don't get the value resorts, I know many of you like them but I just couldn't pay the prices they ask.

Pricing up a few days ago a 1 night stay, night of 3rd July
All stars Movies £81 (£92 in preferred room)

Compare to offsite for same night
http://www.rosenshinglecreek.com/ @£68
http://grandcypress.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp @£72
http://www.peabodyorlando.com/ @£76

All 4/5 star luxury for less money than a value. OK if you want to be onsite you have to pay the prices but if you don't mind being away from Disney you will get a far better standard of room for your money.

The rest of the values are cheaper than Movies for some reason, for the date you looked up Wayne, Pop/Music and Sports were at £66.00 with preferred location at £74.00. :thumbsup2

On site is a lot more practical for WDW wedding guests though Wayne.

We are paying for all day transport to anyone in our group who stays onsite, and as I ssaid we get up to a 30% discount on rooms and tickets.

fully agree wayne. That Hyatt regency price is great! As you know we stayed there for our wedding and wow if the choice was between the likes of Pop or any of the mods I know where I'd be staying and it sure as hell wouldn't be 'onsite'!!!
In fact bar the offer most of us have got for august with okw and ssr i don't think Disney hotels offer 'value' at all, and would rather stay at the Hyatt or even the Gaylord palms over pretty much all the Disney ones :)

obviously tho, that's all just my opinion :)

I know, I was using the most expensive but to me I felt like I was staying in a travelodge at All stars, I just can't see £66. Then again I don't see OKW being worth £100 without free DDP included.

I know I am fighting a losing battle but I just can't see why anyone would stay in a value when you can stay in a 5 star luxury hotel for same money and in the case of the Hyatt its almost onsite.

I get what you're saying Wayne and I agree that you get more for your money if you stay offsite. As Victoria said though, value resorts are ideal for wedding guests. I've only stayed at one (Pop) and for what it's worth, I had a lot of fun there. I can understand why they're not to everyone's taste though. :)

yep, you are two right turns from DTD at the hyatt, not to mention we could see Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror and Cinderellas castle from our balcony, and one night we watched Illuminations and Hallowishes fireworks going on at the exact same time, awesome!!

Now you are selling it to me Luke. :rotfl2: We have 1 night still to book for 4th August before we check into RPR
I have loads to choose from, Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek, Parc Soleil By Hilton Grand, Hilton Grand Vacations Club and the 3 already listed, all around £50-70 for the night.

I defintitely highly recommend the Hyatt. When we stayed it still had te oft commented upon 'Florida Chintz' style rooms which we actually really liked but it's had a more contemporary update which I think is now complete with new furnishings, decor and flat screen tvs!

And it WAS great Lauren, I'll try and post some pics of the view wen I'm not restricted to DISing on my phone :lmao:

WOWOWOW

I would never pay £60-£70 per night for a value, we paid £45 a night during our stay.

We have also put pop down as a value option (£49 a night during our dates) but everyone has ignored it and staying at the dolphin with us at $149 per night. I also thought about including some of the dtd area hotels but everyone is planning on using Disney transportation so I didn't in the end.

Here is the view with Epcot/Hollywood Studios

And here's the Contemporary and Cinderella's Castle

Not to mention the wonderful pool (which we sadly didn't have time to use :( )

For the price if you can get it at that Wayne, it makes a 'Value Resort' seem anything but ;)

If you want some other alternates to think about off-property, consider the Caribe Royale. They have suites for 6 as well as villas for more people. The rates often include a free food credit per day per room(especially if you go through mousesavers.com) and they offer many of the imenities of moderate grade Dis hotel. They have a great waterslide and waterfall at the pool and many restaurants to choose from in the hotel. t is about 5 minutes from MK. We found it very enjoyable, although we still prefer onsite. It was much cheaper!

Looks lovely, great views :thumbsup2 but i still would prefer to stay onsite :) everyones different :goodvibes

Leaves the offsite options for the rest of us that way ;)

Maybe I'll change my mind after my first onsite stay in August tho :thumbsup2

Like anything it depends what you like to do and how you are getting around, where you want to go ..... varies greatly.

I had a pre-trip panic about trying a value last year (ASMu) and tried to change a few weeks out without success. We loved it, but I wouldn't just go recommending it to everyone. It suited us because:

I don't drive - advantage being onsite
We are never in our room except to shower, change and sleep so in-room luxuries are a bit of a waste
It is only me and a child so space was fine - but I would caution a family with 2 adult and 2 children that they would be very cramped!

I think the above mentioned factors would make it value for money. If you like to spend more time in your room, then comfort would be compromised in my opinion. Also, if you like to eat at a TS at a resort you dont have an option to stay at your own.

the term value for money is very subjective :rotfl:
