A Gem of a trip-quality, clarity, color and "Cut that out!" completed 8/4

It was so nice to read about you holding your son just a little longer... that was such a special moment. You can see it on your face even and it was beautiful! I miss that part of motherhood.

I am loving reading your report. And now you get to go again! Time for a blue hawaiian!!

A while back I was mentioning that DS9 my Eeoyre had attended Canada's National Ballet summer camp. He had an absolute blast plus he lived with Nanny and Poppa all month so got everything his heart and stomach desired!

He was too young to attend their private school this year so it was deemed a "fun" introductory year. You must audition for the summer camp which they treat like a month long 2nd stage of their audition process. The school is in Toronto an hour away and he would then have to live permantly with Nanny and Poppa (or do residence) if we got into the school. So it's a bit of a scary prospect to think of him living somewhere else. However, the boy lives, breathes dance and although my small town is lovely it is not exactly the place to be if you are a boy who loves to dance and sing. So he's always felt a little out of place.

Anyhow, yesterday I get a letter from the school. You are supposed to re-audition in the fall/winter to get back into the camp to see if you will then get back into the school. The School has extended an invitation to him for next years summer camp. He doesn't need to audition again.

We are totally thrilled and excited for him. They accept between 7-10 boys a year from across Canada for each grade into the camp and invite 5-6 of them to join the school. It was such a great experience for DS9 to meet all these boy dancers and be taught by Male Teachers.

I got to spend the day there watching him and was caught off guard by how happy he was being with other boys just like him. Yes, he gets along well with the girls in his dance troupe but this was different. You know the DVC saying "Welcome Home". That would apply here. He was home.

That is wonderful! Welcome home is a great thought process. My DS16 used to crochet with his grandma. When she died he would crochet now and then and think about her. He didn't make anything, I think it was his way to hold on to her memory. When he got old enough to be made fun of, he just stopped. Not quite the same thing I know, but peer pressure is so unfair sometimes. Just saying...

I love the pictures with Tigger.

Me too. They were so pleased to finally see him their hugs were extra tight!

Superb update! Glad the birthday boy got so much out of his birthday dinner!

He really LOVED it. I'm so surprised he didn't want to go back there for his B-day again this year. But he discovered Stitch our last day and has been smitten since. So we are doing breakfast with Stitch and the Luau for dinner. I am now pysched for a blue hawaiin drink I heard about on MomsOf 2boys pre-trip.

I miss that part of motherhood

Most days he still needs his cuddle time but not everyday anymore so it is ending. He's a hair twirler and always had his fingers wrapped around my curls. He's off to grade one in september. So it's a good thing I have a classroom full of Kindergarten kids to fufill that need in me other wise DH might just need to have his surgery reversed.

peer pressure is so unfair sometimes.

I totally hear you. I only hope that I have given DS9 the tools to feel good about himself no matter what anyone else may think. Actually I hope I've done that for DD7 and DS5 as well.

I can't believe that you are almost done BUT...you are almost there again!!!!

We are debating whether to use our hotel at the airport tomorrow or not. Our flight leaves mid-day on the 18th and it's a three hour drive plus a border crossing before I get there. So either we leave at 5:30 am or stay at the hotel. My vote is to stay at the Hotel but DH is starting to get nervous about the budget. So we will see.

I am hoping to post my final day from last year tomorrow. It depends on how organized I am tonight. The bags are mostly packed I just need to figure out the cosmetics, medicines and finish printing off information for the "bible" I take into the parks with me each day. It's really just a dollar store Mickey purse size photo album that Rainbowgirl started. This will be it's fourth trip to the world. If only it could talk.

I bought myself a new pair of crocs. Yes, another pair. They are orange and were $14. Who could resist. Bought the kids each a Tamagotchi (on sale too) for the plane. Shhh it's a secret.

Pretty close to it. I'm at the frantic have I left anything out because I still have time to pop out to the store and get it if I need it stage.

I have cross-pollenated the luggage. Everyone has at least one outfit for everyone in the family in their luggage. In their carryons we have our matching yellow shirts plus PJ's, a bathing suit, a long sleeve dry-fit shirt and two changes of outfits. Travelling with Nanny on space available as airline employees I have been seperated from my luggage too many times not to believe it is a possibility. Never has an airline "lost" a piece of it though. Of course I have just opened up that possiblility to the world now.

Must repeat mantra - My luggage and I WILL arrive safely. My family WILL win a dream.

Oh my Gosh! It's finally here. I am taking a moment to sit down with a cup of coffee and try to clear my mind.

I am not all packed and I have not finished everything I wanted to (including one last day of my report on last year). We are off to a hotel in Buffalo close to the airport in the next hour or so.

I am tracking Tropical Storm Fay which is set to land in florida shortly after we arrive (why did I book and outdoor event namely the luau for DS5's birthday celebration?).:scared:

I absolutely hate my camera. I've been fighting with DH about for months. I finally got him to agree we needed a new one without any conditions but that was Thursday night and I just didn't have time to get used to a new one in that time frame. So I am taking a calculated risk with my current one. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the stranger next door. I am also taking Poppa's old one. He used it last year and it produced all the pictures you see in my trip report that have a date on them. So I've got the devil and a backup.

I finally made it through to pre-order my photo-CD and I'm making it my goal to get the Simba and Stitch pictures.

I feel totally unprepared and yet I've spent the whole year preparing. Funny how that happens. I'm just going to have to trust whats in my head and try to enjoy the moment.while I'm in it.

Like this one. I'm heading to Disney today.:cheer2:

Here are my dancers but make no mistake they are only my backup and I am the main event.

 :cool1: :yay: :dance3:  :cool1: :yay:

I'm going to take my last sip of coffee and sign off. :surfweb:

I hope Faye didn't slow you down too much. I can't wait to hear about your trip!!

Arrived on our front porch at 3:30 am this morning. Promise to update soon. Tropical Storm Faye really threw us for a loop. Thought the sun would never shine. Popping over to the photopass site to check out my pictures now. Then maybe I'll start unpacking.

Glad you're back home safe and sound. Can't wait for the report. I'll post the picture of us when you get to that part in your report. I haven't even started mine. I brought a cold back with me and have only just started feeling remotely human again:rotfl2:

I'm glad you are back, safe and sound! I can't wait to start reading the report. Remember I leave in just a few days.
