A few disappointments on our BCV stay last week.

It was our first stay at BCV and we were very excited but did have a few disappointments. I normally don't complain but it has become a real problem for my two boys, 15 and 17, and not just at BCV but BWV. They sleep on the fold out and the last couple of years complain the beds are really bad and they just can not sleep. The one son barely slept the whole 8 days. He actual slept on the bare floor the last night because he was so tired of not sleeping. Also the mattress on the fold out was flipped over but had a large stain on it. We were also spoiled by our stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. Yes the boys did get a queen bed at Hard Rock but I have to say my bed was so much better as the comforter/sheets (not to mention a much larger room) at Hard Rock. We do pay a lot of money for our timeshare and it does seem like Disney is cutting some corners since we became members in 1998. We paid $179 at Hard Rock and if paying I could not have gotten into BCV any where near this price so one would think the quality should be the same or better. I know DCV is not a hotel and we do pay maint fees to cover the mattresses, etc. and I don't want to see large increases in the fees but it does seem like our beds/pillows have been of low quality for a few years now. I am a little concerned about the next trip as my one son said just could not sleep like that again (I know we could go to OKW with two beds and may have too but the kids like BVW/BCV.)

We asked for maid service twice this trip for extra blanket, blender, and the first time it took over 4 hours to get the items (which really did not bother me as we did not need them right away) and the second time they never did come and had to call again the next day. The first maid did seem to be over worked and trying her best.

Over all, the trip was great, BCV was clean and the grounds well kept, pool was great and not crowded as expected.

Wow! You became a member in 1987!!! I first heard of DVC late in 1991! Okay, I know that was a typo, but just had to tease!

The smaller units had a lot to do with why we purchased OKW back in 1997 instead of BWV, which was available then. We had taken the OKW tour back in 1994, but wanted to pay cash, so we waited until '97 to buy. We took the BWV tour then, and decided on OKW anyway, because of the size of the units and the vacation home feel of the place as apposed to the hotel feel of BWV.

I think you should hope that BCV puts in the new style pull outs in the near future. They did this at OKW, and they are VERY comfy! Of course, at OKW, you get two beds in a studio too.

I'd say with sons 15 and 17 who are not able to sleep during an eight day vacation, it's time to move up to a 2BR villa, which will give them each a double bed of their own if you request a 2 queen dedicated. It's not much of a vacation if you have to sleep on the bare floor!

my thought exactly............15 and 17 yr olds are adults............couches are meant for little ones in my family......meaning 12 and below...........I dont think asking a kid that old to sleep on a pull out is DVC's problem. I think you need to consider your families needs............It is clear there is a problem but you can solve it quite easily...........

It does sound a bit like you ALWAYS stay in studios. I guess with "kids" that age, I would only stay in a studio on occation to conserve points on a weekend or something. Our "kids" were in their early 20's when we purchased, and we always get a 2 bedroom, even if it is just 3 of us going. I would think the bathroom would be more of an issue with 4 adults in a room though. Not sure I could handle that one!

Actually, it says that the studios and 1 bedroom units sleep 4 people, not two adults and two young children. I happen to be of the opinion that if a room is slated to sleep 4 then the beds should be comfortable for all 4 adults.

Since the more comfortable pull out couches are now available, and Disney has already started placing them in DVC units, we can hope this will continue until all units have these more comfortable beds.

Disney sold these units saying they sleep 4. People should not be forced to spend 2 or 3 times as many points to get a 2 bedroom that is supposed to sleep 8 when they have only 4 in their party!

This is the point she is not getting.............youre penalizing your kids over points..............buy more, borrow more and complain less.............this is not a limitation of DVC...........it is a problem in planning and a failure to recognize the needs of a growing family. That is as tactful as i can put it.

I agree with Tagrel. Sleeps 4, should be comfortable for 4 especially at the price WDW charges. A Motel 8 for $59.99 nt. can sleep 4 comfortably.

This whole thread will be obsolete in a few years. The new pull-outs (now in at OKW -- not sure where else) are absolutely heavenly. My mom agreed to sleep on the pullout in our OKW GV in February because she doesn't sleep much anyway. Well, she was kicking us out of the living room at night so she could go to sleep and we had to wake her every morning -- she loved that pull-out.

You might want to try OKW a few times until BWV & BCV get upgraded -- OKW has two beds in the room with no pull-out. Definitely more comfortable for your boys.

And HOW many points do you have again? Just because something isn't a problem for YOU doesn't mean others have no right to expect that the provided beds are comfortable enough to sleep on. If someone CHOOSES to put 4 in a two bedroom, then all the power to them. But no one should be FORCED to get a 2 bedroom because the provided bedding is sub-standard.

Comfortable pull out bedding IS available. Not having it IS a limitation of DVC, and it appears they intend to correct this problem. I'm glad that Disney is not as blind to the needs of some members as many here seem to be.

We went in April and our 9 year olds couldn't sleep comfortably on the sleeper. I can almost understand if the sofa was a little uncomfortable and got progresssively worse with age/weight, but the one in our room was useless. Not at all what we expected from a place with BCV's reputation.

p.s. Previous stays at BWV and VWL weren't as bad - not sure whether we were just lucky there or unlucky at BCV.

But if you would LISTEN to your kids maybe you could really see that you are eroding their fun and not that you are the victim of DVC "not providing comfortable bedding." Their is clearly a perseption problem here and you and I percieve the problem quite differently. It has nothing to do with who has how many points...........it has to do with a choice one makes with what one has and how you value your families comfort. You stated your position eloquently..............I respect it but disagree with it totally. I also wont allow you a free pass to pass the blame on to DVC when it is not their fault. It is a message board and it is my opinion. Some beefs with DVC are legit and some are not.

I agree that if the room is for 4...it should be for 4...But,just a suggestion, my 2 boys don't like sleeping together, so we bring an air mattress. It fits in a small suitcase and it is worth their comfort. The mattress has a pump attached.

I'll have to pass this info on to our friends in California. They make us sleep on the pullout sofa when we visit. Those cheap so and so's should spring for the room addition to their house and stock it with beds so we can be comfortable when we visit. And I wouldn't mind if they added an additional bathroom for our comfort as well.

Then we will have to agree to disagree, but double and queen size sleeper sofas are NOT just for kids. That is YOUR opinion. The fact that the new sleeper sofas at SSR ARE comfortable for adults shows this.

I happen to listen to my children very well, thank you very much, and how you choose to endulge your family is completely up to you. But don't expect to judge others by your standard and tell them what they can and can not complain about. As long as Disney designates that studios and 1 bedroom units sleep 4, its their responsibility to provide comfortable bedding. And that is my opinion, and I find it a very legitimate beef. And I'm glad to see that Disney agrees.

Right from the start, I thought the allowed sleeping arrangements for the DVC units were more than I thought would be comfortable. We won't ask my mom to sleep on a sofa bed, and before I invited friends in the fall, I made it clear that there would be a sofa bed for one, unless we were to go to OKW. I still find it hard to believe that neither "3rd" person wanted to go to OKW for the bed, it would have been my first choice! I was disappointed in a way, I like OKW but prefer the other arrangement of studio when I'm with DH!

DVC says "4 adults" but they have always shown you what you get. I'm glad that they are working toward putting better sofa beds in the units, but for now, your boys wanted the BCV, so they chose the accomodations. Just like my friends picked BWV for it's distance to Epcot.

I'm sorry your sons didn't sleep well. Our sons are adults, 3 years apart, and our last family vacation with only 1 room was horrendous. We were in Williamsburg. DS, 16 at the time, didn't want to sleep with DS 19, and so he slept sitting up on a chair, but it was a compromise and our last time ever in 1 room, expecting the boys to share a bed. There was always lots of sibling rivalry, whatever, but now, 11 years later, they ARE friends, thank heavens.

The new sofa beds are very comfy I have used it on all our recent trips to WDW and I have to say I like it better than the king bed in OKW 1 bedroom and better than the queen bed in VWL and BWV SO when we stay at OKW I sleep on the couch and the girls get the king with my DW and my son sleeps on teh airbed beside me.

I am sorry but I disagree than I would be forced to rent a 2 bedroom for just 4 people. There is no where that Disney says the rooms are for 2 adults and children under 12. They are to accommodate 4 adults. The problem is the fold a bed was either old/worn out or lower quality. The kids have slept on fold a beds before with no problems. There was also a large stain on the under side which had no signs of cleaning which is not sometime I expected for a hotel/timeshare at Disney. I have to say the bed I slept was of lesser quality than the bed I slept in at SpringHill Ste. a couple days before. I was just a little disappointed.
