A few disappointments on our BCV stay last week.

Thanks for the info, Dean. That sounds like a reasonable service time for high use items to me. Hopefully it does to DVC as well and that they are into their replacement cycle at BCV even as we speak.
I'll add a little. What Marriott tends to do is make decisions then do a test unit to see how things actually perform and hold up. Even within the quality issues that Marriott looks at, there is considerable variations in the useable life of things like furniture and carpets. I know at Grande Ocean, things were getting rather worn in most units when it came time for the 5 year soft refurbishment. Based on experiences with certain materials at various Marriott's, they are expecting a much better go this time around.

There are many decisions to make and the information that applies to home products frequently doesn't to commercial products or applications. For example, a GO had the devil of a time finding commercial grade DVD players with front RCA inputs, and then they are very expensive compared to Best Buy. Many timeshares just go ahead and buy consumer level products then replace them more frequently as they need to. Same for all appliances, ceiling fans, etc. And you'd think that Cable/Satelite would be far cheaper per end user, frequently not at all and in many cases it's far higher.
