A Croc For All Seasons - It's done! Epilogue, p. 52

V...wow only 11 more days! Ummmm who is going with you on this trip? Should I already know this??? :confused3

Thanks everybody for you kind words! Crossing fingers that there will be NO stories like those to tell! :goodvibes

At least no one said to you in a slow, deliberate manner WITH hand motions: "DO . . . YOU . . . CLEAN?"
Here's me ---> So he repeated himself. After I managed to close my mouth, I said, "No, I'm a guest here". This happened in Aruba as I was in the hallway going back to my room. This is one incident that I really can laugh at now!

Hey V! I know we got a bit side-tracked, but we're still waiting for your next installment: Rotating Rodents Ravage a Rutabaga popcorn::

I am not laughing...I am in shock! :sad2: :faint:

My new Crocs CAPRIs came in yesterday, and....
I'm in LOVE!!!
Yay! I wonder if I have enough time to order a pair before I leave? :rolleyes1
On the downside, I'd also ordered a pair of Scutes for Leo and they were too big. Apparently he's a 10/11 in Caymans, but a 8/9 in Scutes. I decided it wasn't worth paying to ship the big ones back - he'll grow into them within the next year - so I just ordered a second pair in the smaller size. I'll report on those when they arrive, too!
Oh crap! I'm so sorry! I should have told you that the Scutes run big. Aren't flippin' cute, though? I love 'em on the kids!:cloud9:

Whooohooo 11 days and new crocs :yay:
Will I see another installment before I leave :confused3
JO!!!! You're down to 5 days!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:   :cool1: :cool1:

Oh crap! I'm so sorry! I should have told you that the Scutes run big. Aren't flippin' cute, though? I love 'em on the kids!:cloud9:
I just looked these up on the site. I guess I need to see them on an adult, because they look like slippers to me. Are they really cute on?

I am not laughing...I am in shock! :sad2: :faint:
Well that's how I was too until the next day when I saw the look of embarassment on his face when we were on the same shuttle! :lmao:

Don't you just LOOOOVE your capris! I got mine @ Dick's and swore I wouldn't wear them until my trip---then one day I showed my mom when she was over and I've been wearing them daily since! THey are "heaven in a flip-flop"....ahhhhhhh
They look comfy, BUT can you really walk around in them all day? Will the part between your toes start to hurt?

Hey V! I see that you are going in August - is that right? I thought you were going in September. Please let me know! OH - and dont think that we're distracted by all this chit-chat, we've noticed that there's no real update. :snooty:

I guess I can see how they would but luckily I have never had that issue since I am a HUGE flip flop girl...my only issue has always been the soles KILLING after a long day and I have been wearing the Capris a lot with no discomfort after a long day. I am actually going to try wearing them on my walk tonight---thats a good solid 2 hours straight of walking and I do the hills in the cemetary near me and all---so hopefully they keep me happy---I'll report back ;)

I really, really do! I'm 90% certain I'll love them at WDW, too :thumbsup2

V...wow only 11 more days! Ummmm who is going with you on this trip? Should I already know this??? :confused3
Well, that's 11 Fuzzy days - more like 15 real days, but who's counting? :rolleyes1
This one will be me, Leo and Gramma with the sole purpose of hanging out with Lauralee, Disneyland_Mama, DisneyJo and sorul82?

Will I see another installment before I leave :confused3
Maybe before I leave too:rolleyes1
That's the plan! I promise to finish the trip, but you might miss the Epilogue, if there is one.
Oh crap! I'm so sorry! I should have told you that the Scutes run big. Aren't flippin' cute, though? I love 'em on the kids!:cloud9:
Actually, now that you mention it, I think you did tell me that at some point! Mommy brain strikes again.

I just looked these up on the site. I guess I need to see them on an adult, because they look like slippers to me. Are they really cute on?
SUPER cute on the kiddos, but I'm not so sure about adults. They kind of remind me of the Addidas slip-on pool shoes, KWIM?
Hey V! I see that you are going in August - is that right? I thought you were going in September. Please let me know!
Well, the original plan was 8/25-27, BUT.... I just booked the following weekend, too for just me and Leo!
OH - and dont think that we're distracted by all this chit-chat, we've noticed that there's no real update. :snooty:
Darn. ;)

Oh, please will you let us know? I pretty much live in flips, too, and BOY did I notice the difference when I wore the Capris around teh house for a while, then switched to my zero-support old flips. :faint:

Day Six continued

Rotating. Rodents. Ravage. A. Rutabaga.

Two parts of this title are fictitious and completely(ish) off-topic. Can you guess which two? Read on and you’ll soon see if you’re right…

So Leo, Gramma and I were on our way to Epcot, where we arrived safely and in plenty of time for our last ADR, stopping first for some Soarin’ FP’s. Leo and V might get our rides on after all!

Dining Review 10 – Garden Grill

First off, I knew – I knew – I should request a table on the lower tier, but didn’t.

Strike one for V.

I also knew I probably ought to ask that we not be seated near the kitchen doors, but I didn’t.

Strike two.

And so we were assigned a table on the upper tier, smack dab in front of kitchen doors and right next to the bus station.

Strike three. V’s out.

Only I wasn’t. Out. I was still in my favorite character meal location, which was GOOD! So I overlooked the carppy table and focused on why we were there:

1. The Mouse. The Head Honcho. The Grand Poobah. Le Grand Roi. The only character Leo really wants to see each trip.
2. The food. Which was delicious in December and we were certain would be just as good in May.
3. The scenery. Okay, we weren’t going to see as much way up there, but we’d still see enough. Because this here joint ROTATES through the three scenes of Living With the Land. So as you eat your home-cooked vittles, you get to check out a rainforest, American plains and a farm.

So, which parts of the title did you guess were fictitious?

There were, indeed, rodents. Of several sizes and colors. Mickey, Chip and Dale. And a couple prairie dogs in the Plains scene. Though, now that I think about it, are they really rodents? Whatever.

There was some serious ravaging. Of food. Going on. I’ll get back to this, but everything was yummy again and we ate plenty.

A Rutabaga? Not so much. But there were some root vegetables, so I’ll give partial credit on this one.

The rotating restaurant, however, was NOT ROTATING.

At the time we were seated, our table was facing the opening, looking out onto the busy, noisy, ginormous atrium of The Land. It was perfect! By the time we’d settled in, we’d be entering the first scene, whereupon a hush would fall over us and we’d enjoy a calm, relaxing meal with Mick and the gang.

Only, we were NOT ROTATING.

After sitting there about 5 minutes, I asked our server what was going on and she said they had a malfunction, but the service guys were working on it.

Sigh.

This is why I’m afraid to ever eat a second time at a WDW restaurant with which we’ve had a terrific experience. EVERY time we do so, the second visit fails to live up to its predecessor. Call it V’s Fuzzy Disney Law.

Leo wasn’t too happy, as LWTL is one of favorite rides and he loved being able to pick out all the details of the scenes while we ate last time. But we made the best of it, and the characters helped us focus on other things.

The food…. was delicious once again! Gone were the yummy stuffing and bread pudding to-die-for :faint:, but the new menu delights nonetheless.

Rolls and honey-orange blossom butter: :thumbsup2
Flank steak: :thumbsup2
Turkey with cranberry relish: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Fried catfish: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Scalloped potatoes: :thumbsup2
Vegetables: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Berry pastry puff: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

But. We still were NOT ROTATING.

Finally, about halfway through dessert, a man appeared out of the kitchen, stuck a key into a wall socket across from our table, turned the key, pushed a button, and

SUCCESS!!! We s l o w l y began our counter-clockwise journey. Fifteen minutes later, we’d finshed dessert, drank our coffee and paid the bill. And only seen a few feet of the rainforest scene. I knew what our first EP ride would be.

Sure enough, Leo requested a ride on LWTL, and Gramma and I were only too happy to oblige. We like this one!

After that, I think we roamed around Future World a while, checking out the Flower & Garden Fest displays and no doubt riding in the Big Ball. We probably did some other stuff, too, but by the last day I’d stopped writing anything down and we rarely have a detailed itinerary for EP.

:faint:

I KNOW!!!!!

Oh wait, I know we stopped in at Mouse Gears. I needed to buy a birthday present for my sweet friend in PA and found the perfect Tink desk clock. It was all packed up for shipping in its box, which I wrapped in the store bag and stuffed into the stroller basket. Remember that.

We eventually made it over to the World Showcase, starting in Mexico.

Yep, we rode the new and “improved” Mexico river ride thing. I don’t have much to say about it. I can’t stand Donald, so featuring His Duckness wasn’t doing anything to endear me. Other than that, eeh. It was fine. Nothing spectacular, just fine. It still has the same effect it always did on me: makes me want to book a cruise on the Love Boat with ports of call at Puerta Vallarta and Acapulco. And. Wear a dangerously low-cut string bikini. While sipping a pink drink in a grotto.

I miss Isaac.

Maelstrom was – GASP – closed for refurbishment, so we missed out on that. But I hear it’s still a Fast Pass.

It was looking a bit like rain, so I broke out the rain gear for the stroller to be prepared.

490265115_028dd1a86e.jpg

Pretty funny, no? I had NO problem dropping the money on a Maclaren stroller last year. That sucker turns on a dime and weighs, like, nothing! But. I was totally unwilling to spend $50 on the package one would need to get the Maclaren rain cover. Instead, I bought a $14 Combi one and made do. Remember that, too.

Next up was China, one of my favorite spots in EP.
490265085_3aab86f686.jpg

I can easily spend an hour in the store! But Leo’s never seen the movie and I haven’t seen it in about 10 years, so we parked the stroller, ensuring the rain cover was, well, covering, and headed on in.

Due to the threat of rain, the Chinese acrobats were performing in the movie waiting area, so we got an extra treat!

490239114_c3a01e5b6c.jpg

Leo was a little wary of the movie. He was traumatized by It’s Tough to be a Bug and Mickey’s Philharmagic years ago and has only recently been coaxed into dark theater-like rooms. But he just LOVED the movie in China! He had a lot of questions and remembered that his friend at school went to China last year and had sent him a postcard from there. I cannot wait to start traveling internationally with my boy!

We came out of the theater and saw that it had been raining pretty hard and was still coming down, so we lingered in the shop, which was just fine with me. I picked up a few more gifts for upcoming friends’ Bdays. And a tea cup for me with my Chinese astrological sign. I’m a Boar. TFI.

When we got back to the stroller…. it was a total WRECK. As some of you may already have guessed, my idiotic attempt at saving a few bucks resulted in one soggy mess of a stroller. The cheapo rain cover was flipped backward, protecting only the freaking handles of the ride. The seat was soaked. Lucky for Leo, I was also too cheap to spring for the seat cover, so the mesh could probably be dried off with some paper towels. Unluckily for V, the rain poured right through the mesh seat. Into the bag with my friend’s Tink clock. The clock was fine, but the packaging was a little rough.

We spent a good 20 minutes in the Norwegian ladies’ room drying the whole mess off. Two days after we got home, I ordered the Maclaren rain cover. It hasn’t rained since at any time I’ve had the stroller out.

We made our way around the lagoon to Morocco for dinner.

A Rutabaga?
 Help me out????

The rotating restaurant, however, was NOT ROTATING.
Nooooo

Cute :cutie:

The food…. was delicious once again!
Good :thumbsup2

But. We still were NOT ROTATING.
Still not moving? :sad2:

When we got back to the stroller…. it was a total WRECK.
Oh no!!! Does the saying go something like you get what you pay for?

I just looked these up on the site. I guess I need to see them on an adult, because they look like slippers to me. Are they really cute on?

ITA w/ V, Gmax. They are really cute on kids. Adults, not so much.

We made our way around the lagoon to Morocco for dinner.

And......????? :hyper:

This is not a good time for a cliff hanger, V! ;)

Oh no! I have always wanted to try GG since it rotates but we are missing it this trip---hopefully it'll actually rotate when we do decide to go ;0)

crap crap crap about the stroller huh? A lesson learned....I am a very cheapo person also and those are the things that happen to me. Thing is now you are out the $14 you paid first for the wrong one and the $50 for the right---raising you to $64 then there was the not totally ruined clock but still soggy box...that is ummm "priceless" price to pay. Sigh--there with the Fuzzy Disney Math.

I love the chinese acrobats, but have never seen the show---maybe we'll catch it this time...

Poor you about Garden Grill. At least the characters and food were good. Those are the MAIN attractions. But I know how you feel about where you're sitting. Lucky, for a family of 5, we get the lower tier no matter what!

Way to go on being a cheapo! :thumbsup2 I probably would have done the same thing. We really got lucky this time around. We had Dollar Store shower curtains to drape over the rented double stroller and never really needed them except to keep things shaded at times when it was parked.

Absolutely! I am headed out for a walk in a bit...I'll try to remember to report back here afterwards. I am sure they'll be heaven on my feet since they mold so well to the sole. ahhh I love every penny of the $40 I paid for them.

What a bummer! Going to the GG and one of the features of the place isn't working! Although, it is kinda hard to tell you're rotating anyways so I think you didn't miss much on that part.

I believe you also read oybolshoi's dining review, no? You both make me a little scared to go back to anything we liked! ;)

Too cute! :thumbsup2

OK. Maybe we WILL be able to repeat some restaurants... :) (My quote had to delete some of your thumbs up, as I went over the image limit. Oh dear, again.)

Well, so long as you know... :rotfl:

which I wrapped in the store bag and stuffed into the stroller basket. Remember that.

Nice use of foreshadowing... popcorn::

Wasn't that just your dream life around age 10? :lmao:

Instead, I bought a $14 Combi one and made due. Remember that, too.

Dah, dah, DAH. Well, at least the clock wasn't all foggy faced and ruined.

We made our way around the lagoon to Morocco for dinner.

I hope this goes well, as I have been talking Marrakesh up to everyone... :rolleyes1

Great update! Love the pictures!

You know, we women just cannot help ourselves!! Tirelessly searching for the elusive "good buy"! :rotfl2: Don't you hate when the great find doesn't work out?? When I saw the picture of the stroller cover, I was thinking that I have to remember to tell my SIL about it. Guess not! :rotfl: Sorry about the GG not rotating. That is one of the reasons you go there. At least the characters still "rotated" around the restaurant! :lmao: I have never seen the acrobats in China. We always seem to be there at the wrong time. I'd really like to see it. Maybe next trip.

great update! I'm glad to hear that GG has really good food.

We just bought a Mac stroller but it came with the rain cover...haven't tried it out yet but good to know the Mac works well in WDW!

Love the pics with Leo and the rodents!:goodvibes

Only, we were NOT ROTATING.

I KNOW!!!!!

We sort of do the same thing at Epcot. It just seems so more laid back than the other parks:confused3

What? That's it. You promised me & Jo that you'd have this doen before we leave. She leaves Monday and I leave Tuesday. Hurry Hurry:cool2:
