A Croc For All Seasons - It's done! Epilogue, p. 52

Ooooooh a new installment with a Dole Whip! What more can you ask for!:cloud9: I had my first one last September! I even took a pic of it and put it in my trip report! I hope I remember to get one this year too!

WHAT??? You had the Bad AND the Ugly...and you didn't share with us GMax????:confused3
Gmax, you had some bad & ugly on your last trip??!!! With your sweet mom??! I don't buy it. ;)
On my last trip, the negative stuff came from other guests, not my Mom (thank God). As I've hinted at before, there are those who dont expect to see, stand, or sit next to Black people on their vacations. There are 2 incidents that stand out from last year:
1. A little girl who looked horror struck that the last seat where she was standing was next to my Mother. The child's parents told her to go ahead and sit down - that it was okay, even though the child looked at us and looked back at them like "are you sure"? Her parents actually looked at her very seriously and said "It's okay". When she did sit, she was on the very edge of her seat, and keep looking at us cautiously. Her parents wouldnt look at us and seemed a bit disgusted that this is where her daughter HAD to sit. :sad2: My Mother just looked at me and smiled.

2. A DISer spotted me on the bus so I sat near her. Another lady asked the DISer about info on Coral Reef, but the DISer differed to me since I'd just been there. You should've seen the look on her face :snooty: She didnt want to hear a word I said, but I kept talking anyway. Later when the DISer chimmed in, she did look at her and respond but not to me. When we got off the bus, my Mother asked me if I noticed how the lady treated me. I must be a GREAT actress, since even my Mother couldnt tell I noticed!

Sadly enough, this happends alot. But those were the top 2 from last year.

Ya know, I think they must have took the Niles off the market cuz they aren't on the Croc site anymore. On another note, they have a new style now, the Alice (a slimmer mary Jane style). Just thought I'd pass that along.
I already have 5 pairs! 2 Caymen, 2 Mary Jane, and 1 Off Road. But I'm still gonna check this out! Thanks!

Looking forward to more V! :goodvibes

This is just so wrong on many different levels:sad2:

OMG, Gmax I'm... appalled. Disgusted. And frankly, embarassed for the idiots who still don't get it. I have to admit, I've led sort of a Pollyanna life in regard to prejudices and bigotry, having grown up in a racially and ethnically diverse family and possibly the most multi-cultural school ever. But I'm taking a course this summer, Artistic Expression in a Multicultural America, that's really opened my eyes and, again, I'm just appalled at the behavior of a good chunk of the population. :sad2:

The Nile croc is still on the croc website. I'm still considering a pair, but am unsure of what size to get. I normally wear a 7.5. I bought a size 7 in the Athens flip croc. I'm not crazy about them because they are a flip flop. I just really don't like that thing between my toes. Any suggestions?

This is very bothersome to me. I know I could never ever put myself in your shoes at all or know how you must feel with that kind of racism. In your #2 incident, that was pure idiot-ness of that person. But a bit on the defense of your #1 incident. Kids can be very apprehensive about sitting next older people. I know my son had to sit next to an older gentleman on Kali and he froze at first and I had to tell him it would be okay. There was absolutely no racism or speculate in our situation but Alec was a scared. Nonetheless, it really saddens me when people are like that. I try to teach my kids to respect all people and hopefully they will follow from my example!

Here...this is for you Glenda:flower3:

I hear ya, G. My family got some stares last year, especially at the Poly. I wanted to yell out to those giving us the "look", "Yes folks, brown people do vacation at the Polynesian, too!" I guess I've been living in a bubble here in L.A., the melting pot of the west. :confused3 I have never experienced that, and it was a rude awakening of what really goes on still to this day.

Glenda that is just terrible, the town where I grew up there was only 1 black man and he's my godfather, sorry I digress but when I was born I was really dark and my Dad had a laugh about what my Mum had been up to :rotfl2: I hope I'm bringing up my DD's to accept everyone whatever there race, age, disability etc

T I was trying to explain you all to my Mum and I was telling her your kids names and she said what a pretty name Maddison was and we don't have that name so I said that I thought you were Hispanic blah blah blah to which she replied I bet her DD is beautiful :goodvibes OMG hope that makes a bit of sense :rotfl2:

It is truly sad that these feelings & actions still happen. :sad2: When we will recognize the fact that we are all in this life "together"! :grouphug:

Thanks everybody for you kind words! Crossing fingers that there will be NO stories like those to tell! :goodvibes

At least no one said to you in a slow, deliberate manner WITH hand motions: "DO . . . YOU . . . CLEAN?"
Here's me ---> So he repeated himself. After I managed to close my mouth, I said, "No, I'm a guest here". This happened in Aruba as I was in the hallway going back to my room. This is one incident that I really can laugh at now!

Hey V! I know we got a bit side-tracked, but we're still waiting for your next installment: Rotating Rodents Ravage a Rutabaga popcorn::

SSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!! Don't get everyone stirred up - as of now, I've got.... nothing! :scared1: ;)

I saw that!!! Whad'ya mean you've got nothing? You only have 2 weeks to wrap this up and get started on your Pre-Trip report for your August trip. :lmao:

Okay, keep in mind this is coming from a Floridian... Jan/Feb are COLD down here. 70's are possible, but so are 20's. 50-60's are probably average. I need me some socks for winter touring.

:) Yep, temperature discussions always need the information about who's speaking. For me, 50-60's would equal jeans, tank-top and open toed shoes--yes, I'm the weirdo in the tank top when everyone else waiting for the parade have hats on. But, I actually do wear socks (fancy ones, Smart Wool or Dahlgren) and running shoes (with orthodics) for all wdw touring.

To echo the others...I'm really sorry about this. I've been rather hurt by some of the harmful statements I've seen on peoples' t-shirts while walking around at wdw, but, at least I haven't had anything matching what you describe.

Ditto!!!

I may not have had much to say (at least not that hadn't already been said by others) but I've had fun reading and I'm looking forward to more.

Ok, its all your fault . . . I have just bought my first pair of Crocs!!! :scared1: My husband is refusing to be seen with me!!
Brilliant trip report!

Well, it is but I'm guessing not the kind of update you might have been looking for.

My new Crocs CAPRIs came in yesterday, and....

I'm in LOVE!!!

Okay, I've only worn them around the house for about 1.5 hours - certainly nothing in comparison to the work out they'd get in WDW. But I've got a really good feeling about them. I'll wear 'em most of this weekend for running around and report back next week :thumbsup2

On the downside, I'd also ordered a pair of Scutes for Leo and they were too big. Apparently he's a 10/11 in Caymans, but a 8/9 in Scutes. I decided it wasn't worth paying to ship the big ones back - he'll grow into them within the next year - so I just ordered a second pair in the smaller size. I'll report on those when they arrive, too!

Oh, and, since I don't have a PTR going for the next trip...

Only 11 Fuzzy days till my next meeting with The Mouse!

Not that I'm looking forward to getting away or anything :rolleyes1
