As soon as I saw the Santa question, the first thing in my mind was "What about Devine, PUSH, etc?"

The next thing I thought was "If we include them, do we include Streetmosphere characters?"

Then again, that line is already blurred with the Mayor of Main Street. I've seen pics with various streetmosphere folk - I would guess that they'd sign autographs and such. And we also have a spot for "Show only" characters that don't do (and never have done) meet and greets (such as Merlin and the Grand Duke)... so I guess that we should add them.

Let me figure out the best way to do this. I'm guessing that it would be to add a couple more fields to the sighting form, to allow the user to suggest a character that isn't in our list, where that character is from, etc.

Thoughts?

You know, I hadn't even considered that question. To be honest, I'm not sure that I have a strong feeling either way.

I could see arguments for both. Boy, talk about your niche characters!

Any opinions out there on this? Regular Santa Claus only, and perhaps post pictures of other Santas on his page? Or a page for each?

I think there should just be one slot for the WS Santas (and have everyone post the different pictures there). But that is just me.

What if you do a slot just for Streetmosphere, and keep them altogether?

As for the show-only characters, some of them were available for pictures (Merlin sometimes did pictures before or after a show. And Cinderellabration/Dream Along with Mickey characters sometimes come down if a show is canceled).

Well, there is at least one infamous Streetmosphere character....Rosie the cleaning lady. I had a great time chatting with Paige Turner and Buzz during my last stay. During my solo trip, Officer Lester Manly, just call him Les, and Tootie Fruiti were a hoot and a half. And while I don't have a picture of her, I will never forget the fun that we had with Carlotta Diamond in 2002.

Maybe we should start a thread to see if we can capture more names of Streetmospheres and then create a similar page to what you have now, but have it only be for the Streetmospheres.

The same concept could be applied to the Santa's and Storytellers around the WS and WDW during the holiday season.

Yup. I'll go to the site later today or tomorrow and add that in. I've also met a few of those other characters...but only at Disneyland or Disneyland Paris, so not much help.

I saw that! It was funny - I just added mine this morning, and it was the most recent (at 2006). Lo and behind, you added yours not long after.

That was a great find, no doubt! Plus, it is much more "useful" than my sighting - mine (and the rest that were there) were all quite old (2006 or older). Yours gives hope that Clarice is still findable now.

There are a few that need their status changed (for example- Bowler Hat Guy still has his as unknown, but he is retired. Figment, the Cinderellabration characters, and others are the same).

I figured it was time to retire Bowler Hat Guy, and had seen several reports that that Figment was also gone. Maybe the latter was wishful thinking on my part?

I feel comfortable retiring the Grand Duke, the King, and Merlin. Of course, doing so will eliminate the show character category in its current form.

I guess it's no big deal to unretire them if the situation changes.

A few I'm wondering about:

Remy and Emile (I know their regular meet and greet is gone. Are they gone, period?)
Mittens (reports are that she no longer appears with Bolt and Rhino. Is she retired already?)
Wilbur and Lewis Robinson
T-Rex and Roxie
Jack Sparrow (does he become a show-only character now? Will he be appear at special events, now that P&P are gone?)
Darth Tater (does he appear at SW weekend, or is he gone forever [seems likely])


I feel confident that Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable still qualify for the Unknown status. Will Disney REALLY retire them now that the KP missions are just starting? That doesn't make sense.


What about Ursula? I have a great shot of her from a parade, and she appears in Fantasmic. Should I add her as a show-only character?

Mittens is so new (you can't get the DVD on Netflix until next month) that I'm gonna put her as unknown for now.

Not really. And there is no chance of her coming out for meets (unlike other villians).
