Must be nice to enjoy a corporate credit card. :rolleyes2

Last week, a business ordered 35 pizzas and twenty 2 liter bottles of soda. The bill came to well over $300. In the tip line, they put in $90.00 for the driver tip. It was not a typo, or a mistake, they added the $90.00 into the total, wrote the total and signed the cc slip.

I am the assistant manager, and almost fainted when I saw the cc slip. I asked the owner of the store if I could have a corporate cc.

Really, is there need to pencil in $90.00 for a tip? A very good day for that driver, although, from now on he will think all his tips suck. :teeth:

That is a great tip for the driver. The business probably figured that hauling 35 pizzas and 20 2 liters of soda was going to take several trips from the car to the door and wanted to show their appreciation! :)

Well I have never given a $90 tip, but if you think about it, the norm around here for one pizza delivered is $3. This guy delivered 35 pizza, and 20 bottles of pop. 3 X 35 would be 105, so for the amount this guy brought..........

I can see what the person signing the cc would be thinking, and after all it wasn't his $. Maybe he (or she) had a budgget of $400, if they didn't spend it, it would be "lost" so he thought why not?

Either way, great day for the driver!

It is possible that the guy who has the card also owns the business, I dunno. But I'd tip a good deal for that many pizzas, too.

Drew Carey tipped housekeeping $100. :)

Were the pizzas delivered hot and the soda's delivered cold? How many people were they feeding -- I would assume far more than 40 people, correct? How much lead time did the pizza shop have? Was this planned for a few days in advance or did the pizza shop staff quickly cover someone's "OH $#*%, WE FORGOT TO ORDER LUNCH!" Now how much would it cost to cater lunch in for that crowd? Where I work, a catered lunch starts at $15 per person. Granted, it's a nice lunch but even so ... feeding 40 plus people for less than $10 per isn't bad at all. I have to say, it actually seems reasonable.

A semi long but intesting story. I have a good friend, 'E' who worked for the Drew Carey show. When Drew was given a car (Porsche) by ABC for his show doing so well, he had a "contest" amongst his crew -- basically, it was the "who works for me who has the crappiest car" contest. Unfortunately when my friend was relocating to LA-LA Land to join the show, his car (a nice Saab) stuffed to the gills with all his clothes and other stuff was being trucked out on an auto carrier while he flew to join the crew. Somewhere around Bakersfield that semi rolled over and 'E's car was squashed flatter than a pancake. His stuff was scattered across the highway, and everything was lost. Adding to the fun, a week later 'E' found out the trucking company's insurance was bogus and there was some technicality his insurance was shafting him on... So, here he is in LA without a car, and is now riding a bicycle to work in the pouring el ninio rains. He's not exactly living the dream... Somewhat needless to say, he won Drew's contest. That weekend Drew handed 'E' the keys to Drew's black Mazda Miata and signed the pink slip over to him. A few months later the news media catches word of Drew's gesture after an appearance on Charlie Rose and a corporate weeine from ABC seeks 'E' out to go talk about how cool Drew is (as an image piece or something). 'E' simply isn't comfortable doing it -- he's definately "a behind the camera - not in front of it" sort of guy, and Drew steps in and tells ABC to leave 'E' alone. Say what you will, but I like Drew protecting and taking care of the people who worked for him... he'll always have my respect for that.

Pretty neat story, and it does make me like Drew even more, even if Sounds Dangerous is pretty lame. :rotfl:

I can't imagine why you would begrudge the driver his tip. The customer obviously thought he earned it.

I am not begrudging the driver in anyway. I am happy for him. I am pointing out how "nice" it must be to have control of a corporate cc.

The bills are "nice" too.

I meant that as a good story about Drew. :)

GOSH, I only tipped my guy $5.00 tonight and told him Happy Easter. I thought I was being nice!! I would have LOVED to have given him a huge tip like that and watched his face light up. Maybe some day when I'm famous . . .

MouseWorshipin,

I didn't take it to be bad. The "say what you will" wasn't directed toward you or anyone specifically... Sorry if it caused any concern.

You might be a bit happy to know that 'E' was a Clevelander who went out to LA to join the crew following his work on the Cleveland Rocks opening. Good things come to the locals! :teeth:
