9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

hey guys well i am all moved in i stayed in the house last night for the first time and i knew somthing would happen to me. We were leaving my moms house and she has wooden steps built into the side of the hill going down to the driveway and of course i missed the second one and fell face first down the steps onto the concrete. I have severly bruised shins and a swollen chin, i had to call into work today and let them know that i would not be there today b/c i cant stand up for long periods of time w/o pain and it hurts to walk also. But atleast all of my teeth are intact that would have been my luck 3 weeks b4 the wedding and i bust my teeth out i will post pics of my battle scars later but til then here are some new pictures of the house and our new addition to the family his name is MICKEY!!!

hope you're feeling better today, at least you didnt do any serious damage. cor and i thought i overpack?!! lol, but at least you're more organised than i am right now. i havent even thought about starting to pack, the cases are still in the attic. probably wont get around to getting them out til about 3 days before we leave!
i'm setting off in about half hour for the first of 2 interviews and a job centre appointment. its going to be a busy day, and lots of driving round. i'm hoping that i get the second job, it looks like it'd be quite interesting.

well i've just got back from job interview number one, its only for a local mini supermarket, but hey i need the money at the mo.
i went in and did one of those computer based quizzes that test your personality traits. i passed that "easily" (she did say that some people who've taken it recently failed miserably - how do you fail those things unless you hit 5 for every answer??!!). she did say that i seem overqualified for it, which to be honest i kinda am, but i need any job at the mo.
she asked if i've got anything else lined up, i told her i had an interview this afternoon for a 30 hour a week job. she said that before we get too into giving me a job, i should go to the one this afternoon, see how i get on, then go back and see her this afternoon.
apparently the travelex job this afternoon is flexible hours, and the one this morning is 14 hours a week, so in theory i could do both, and work them round each other to make a 44 hour week.
so i've got to go see her again this afternoon, and go from there. but it looks like she's happy to give me the job, and its 14 hours a week work more than i had this morning.

I have my fingers crossed for your second interview today Karen! I work two jobs, my full time job averages about 40 - 42 hours a week, and the part-time job at the drugstore around 20. I got the part-time when Bob lost his job and I said I would quit when he reached his one year point at his new job. That would mean I would be quitting December 1st, but I am thinking of staying because the discount I get is worth putting up with the crap I go through on the job.

Lainey, Mickey is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!! I love cats, but Tim doesn't...so no cats for me!! I had cats growing up though. Maybe he can be friends with Minnie, LOL!!

Your house looks great!! We have a very similar comforter in our 2nd bedroom to the one in your master. I like the accent pillows you have on there!! I'm glad you didn't do any serious damage in your fall, especially this close to the wedding!!

In four weeks, some of us will be at the terminal!!

hi everyone. just got back from the 2 interviews and job centre appointment, and to be honest i'm really p***ed off.
(i hate the fact that i've had to sign up for it, and want to get back off it at the earliest opportunity) but at the moment i'm getting job seekers allowance. i got offered job number 1 at the supermarket but its only 14 hours a week (no chance of extra hours, thats it). that was ok i thought as the way i thought it worked was that you can work up to 16 hours a week and it doesnt affect your allowance.
the second interview went ok, i should hear back soon, but i think she was interviewing quite a few people so i'm not that hopeful.
well i went to the job centre appointment, and told them i had found a job. the woman at the job centre said that if i did the 14 hours a week i'd lose my allowance, and actually told me its not worth taking it as i'd not be any better off. i worked it out and if i took the 14 hour a week job, i'd only be £20 better off, so basically would be working for £1.50 ($2.40) an hour.
this is ridiculous. i want to work, i go out and find a job, then get told by the job centre (whose purpose is to get people into work and off benefits) that its not worth me taking it. i cant win.

well i have officially now finished my FE gifts, i bought the last thing today and have now taped them closed to stop me buying more stuff for them!

i've now finished the FE maps, i've emailed them to jenny, lainey, donna and amy (they're the people who i've got email addresses for). i've PM'd everyone else letting them know they're done, if you would like a copy of the map, please PM me your email address.

but it does look like delivery of the FE gifts will be quite easy, 5 of the 10 rooms are on deck 2! and stacy and amy are right opposite each other! you'll be easy to find!

You aren't the only one here!! I've been trying to get my computer to cooperate with me ALL day, so no time for Dising!! LOL!! It looks like i'm going to have to come here tomorrow too, unfortunatley...I can't stay any later than now because i'm going to dinner with my family.

I've just watched the ship sailing out to sea...in only 4 weeks, that will be us!!

I had a doctor appointment this afternoon, so I missed seeing the ship sail . I was trying to make it home in time to sit down with Bob and watch....alas the doctor was running behind and I just got home. I got a cortisone shot in my elbow, I pulled the tendon in my arm working at the drug store and it has been so swollen and sore I had to do something before I left for San Francisco on Saturday morning. It's going to be a painful night, but this time tomorrow it will be all worth it.

are you going to san francisco for work or pleasure? a few years back we went on a self drive holiday to the west coast, went to LA, vegas, grand canyon, phoenix, and san diego, but i really wanted to go to SF. maybe one of these years i'll pry myself away from WDW enough to go and check out the rest of your great country!

Okay so, i am completely stupid. I somehow managed to lose my keys at work. So now i have looked everywhere (for almost 1 1/2 hours) and have no idea where they could have gone. i don't have the number of the girl i went to lunch with, so i can't call her. but i SWEAR i had them at my desk to open up my cabinet to get out the money for this girls wedding thing next week...and that was at 3:30. So somewhere between 3:30 and 4:30, they disappeared. So now tim has to come get me with my extra car key...i lost my laptop key for work, my car key that works, my tinkerbell house key, and all of my 90,000 store cards. Oh, and my library card as well. And I missed dinner with my family : (

This is just really crappy!! My keys are not small...where do they get lost to?!? Grrr................

I am going for work. My boss loves San Francisco so much that he paid for everyone to have one free day at the hotel so we could do whatever we want. I ended up paying for an additional night on my own so I could have two free days. I am going to go on a group tour to Yosemite for a day, then I am doing a San Francisco City Tour. The week after that is all work.

yeah mickey is the best he is so sweet and wants to play almost all the time. i am feeling ok it just hurts to walk normally so i look like i have casts on my legs when i walk and it hurts to yawn bc of my chin being scraped and swollen. ok should i be worried that we havent gotten our paperwork for the land part of the trip yet.
I love the bed spread in our master greg really doesnt care he is just glad it is comfortable.

we havent had any of our final DCL paperwork yet either. we've done online check in so i know we wont get a lot of paperwork but i'm at least expecting the luggage tags for the cruiseline. i'm just hoping that we get them before we leave, as we leave the house 13 days before the cruise departs.

mary, have your keys turned up yet?

lainey, hope you feel better soon, at least you didnt do yourself too much damage when you fell over. hows the last minute wedding preparations going anyway?

donna, hope you have a great time in SF, you'll have to take loads of photos for us to see!

did you all get the FE map and list ok? did they open up ok? for some reason i was paranoid that they wouldnt open correctly?

has anyone heard from jenny? she hasnt been on here in a couple of days, hope everything is ok?

I'm starting to wonder if I did the wrong car rental reservations. I was reading about the toll roads and noticed someone say, "don't go to to Cape Canaveral, go to Port Canaveral". Our drop off location for Budget said Cape Canaveral. Is that the wrong location?

our drop off is cape canaveral too. dont worry too much, they all have shuttles to the port.

The FE map opened fine for me Karen. Thanks for making that, now at least I won't be blinding wandering around. My arm is actually feeling much better this morning. Yesterday it was so swollen I couldn't straighten it, today I can, so I am happy about that. I will take tons of pictures in San Francisco and make sure I post them.
