I’ve seen all of the documentaries, movies, interviews, etc from the case of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, and the cases of Amanda Knox and Rafaelle Sollecito in Italy. I’m currently watching the latest one that’s on Hulu right now.

On one hand I always said I’d never go to Aruba on vacation. Then with Amanda Knox, I’d never go to Perugia, Italy. I know that feeling this way isn’t fair to all of the good people who live in those places, and we know that the wrongly accused get sent to jail here the US, too.

I’m going to post a poll. The question is, Do these stories (I mean the true stories) still make you feel one way or the other?

I’m sure I’ll never go to Aruba because of the mishandling of when Natalee Holloway was missing, band I’m sure that I’ll never step foot in Perugia. I might consider going to other cities in Italy.

So these are my feelings on this…. what are yours? :surfweb:

I'd have no issue visiting either place. They both seem safer than a lot of places in the US.

CHOCOLATE FESTIVALLLLLLLLL :) That's literally all I think of when I hear Perugia, I really had forgotten about Amanda Knox stuff happening there.....I haven't watched it (and I won't) so I may have my facts wrong (even though I was glued to the tv during the trial), but it seemed that her predicament was exacerbated by who she was associating with....

I'd have no issues going to either place. I've been to Italy a few times already, but not Perugia. I haven't been to Aruba, but a bunch of my family members have with no issues at all.

Many places have a high number of missing persons cases, but they don’t always receive the same media attention as high-profile cases like Natalee Holloway or Amanda Knox. Hawaii supposedly has one of the highest rates of missing persons per capita, yet I rarely see news coverage or documentaries about it. That said, I would still feel comfortable traveling to Hawaii, Aruba, and many other destinations.

I have been to Aruba, and I'd like to go to Italy someday, but haven't thought far enough about it to determine which cities/regions. I didn't even recognize the specific place in the poll.

These things happen in the US as well. While it is unlikely I will travel to either of these places it has nothing to do with these cases

Been to Italy many times - I have no desire to go back as it is now.
Id say the same many cities in the US as well to be fair.

Many places in Europe I have visited in the past I wont return to again for various reasons - I've been to almost every country in Europe and they are changed IMO. On top of that many don't want tourists - so I'll give them what they want.

As for these Hulu documentaries - I'd take them with a grain of salt - they tend to start with the conclusion and then build around that.
