9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Cruise Meets, and FEs, and Goombays oh my!

so far its 9 cabins participating so we need to do 8 gifts each at the mo.

got back from the vets, i've got 5 days of eye and ear drops to give cerby.
he wasnt happy though, we ended up muzzling him, i know he wouldnt do anything but i suggested it mainly for the vets and the vet nurse's sake who obviously dont know him. cerby wasnt too happy with having stuff put in his eyes and ears given that there's something wrong with them, i dont blame him, but he just wouldnt sit still at all. took 3 of us to push him so far into the corner that he couldnt move. poor thing, i really felt sorry for him. but he got his own back, he full on headbutted me while wearing a hard plastic muzzle and smacked me straight across my nose and top lip. i'm not going to be amused if i end up with a fat lip!

yay! just found out that my friend who got married in WDW in may is going to be flying out to orlando on the 26th!! i'm going to try and arrange to meet up with her on the day that we get off the cruise!

Poor dog. Maybe he'll calm down once he knows the drops are making it better? My dog had diabetes and we had to give him shots of insulin. He used to run away when he saw the needle but once he knew it was making him feel better, he just sat down and took it no problem.

Poor Minnie has an ear infection!! She was still rubbing her ear this morning and shaking it around, so I took her in. It's mild though, the vet was actually surprised after looking at the ear, but she did a cytology test and there was bacteria and yeast in there. Yuck!! So we got some ear drops to help make it better. Luckily, she doesn't seem to mind the drops.

I got a brochure in the mail today for the food and wine festival!! It does seem similar to what I read for last years, but we haven't been since 2004, so it will be different to me!!

Aw, poor Cerby and Minnie!! It's weird they both got these afflictions at the same time.

I have never been to F&WF so everything will be completely new to me!

Found out the Martini and Tequila Tastings are $15 per person. Sounds like it could be fun!

i'm sure minnie is taking her medication a LOT easier than cerby is taking his, it took both me and gary to scruff him so we could get the stuff in his ear, and then had to do his eyes. poor thing. its not going to be easy when i have to do it on my own when gary's at work tomorrow.

i've been filling in job applications for a good chunk of the day, i need a job! this not working thing is really starting to get boring now!!
i applied to the disney store, we dropped in on saturday and i asked if they were hiring. they said they're going through resumes at the mo, so i've posted mine in today. in an effort to get mine to stand out, i put a bit of the disney font on the top, put a small copy of one of our WDW wedding photos on the cover letter, and put some mickey confetti in the envelope! i'm hoping it gets their attention lol (i kinda hope i get it because it will be a cool place to work but the closest store is 25 miles away which will kinda suck, having to do that journey every day)
i'm just starting to apply for everything now, i was kinda holding out for office jobs because i've gotten into the whole 9 to 5 thing, but now i'm just applying for loads of retail jobs again. anything will do at the mo.

Minnie is usually pretty easy going about things, especially when I do them. I read before I got her to play with their feet and teeth and ears so that if you ever have to do something to them, they are used to you touching them. It seems to have worked for her!! I think she is flipping her ear a little less, It's just sad because you know they don't feel good but it's hard to make them feel better. Poor Minnie & Cerby!

I thought about getting a part time thing at the Disney Store here, they are hiring once in a while, especially for people with good knowledge of Disney. Maybe one of these days, after my CPA is over.

I want to do one of the tastings, too. We'll have to see when they are. Otherwise, we can just do our own, LOL!!

Wow, Karen! That's a really clever idea. I think that will definitely help you to stand out and show how much you love Disney. I hope you get a callback from them. You'd definitely be an asset!

So my sister is in Miami for the week for her job so I'm apartment sitting. She's much closer to my office so I can sleep in a little bit longer even though I had to get up at 5 today to drive her to the airport! I'm sleepy. It's nice to have a computer that functions! I was on the normal facebook site before (I can usually only get on the mobile) and signed up for Farm Town. Uh...what is it exactly that I'm supposed to be doing? I saw Mary, Karen, and Lainey on there so I requested you guys to be my neighbors. I planted a few things but that's the farthest I've gotten. I visited your farm Lainey. Wow! I have nothing compared to you lol.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but what are FE's and what is the purpose of them? Do you make one for every family? We've never heard of them before.

FEs (Fish Extenders) are just little gifts you give to the other cabins on the list. Some people give one per person, some people give one per cabin, some one per day, some once per cruise...it's really up to you!! You hang up a "Fish Extender" over the fish in your hallway (i'm sure someone here has a link to a better thread...), and then people put gifts in yours, too!! It's all just for fun, and nobody is obligated to partcipate, obviously!! My Husband thought I was kind of nuts for the whole thing, but he will like getting stuff each day!!

for the FE exchange there's currently 9 rooms participating so at the mo you'd need to do gifts for 9 rooms if you decide to join in. There's going to be a cut off point for people joining in but that'll be closer to the cruise. You can make a FE if you want but anything will do. Last year i used a tote bag, some people have used Christmas stockings in the past, its up to you, as long as it fits on the metal fish outside your door, you can use it. The gifts can be big or small, you can give out gifts each day or just once, its up to you? You can give out your gifts whenever you want. Once we get final numbers I'm going to do a map for everyone so we can find the rooms. Basically its just a bit of fun, you can take it as light hearted or as seriously as you want. There's no real hard rules about it. You can do one gift per cabin or one per person, its up to you. I'm personally doing one gift bag per cabin with lots of little bits in
