That's what DH learned his raise will be for this year. Whoopee. It's almost like, why even bother with a raise. The amount he nets after taxes is enough to cover the increase in insurance costs. Don't get me wrong; I am glad he still has his job. But it'd be a different story if the company just said, "Okay, we lost 35 billion last year so we won't be giving raises this year." Yeah, there would be griping, but we'd get past it a lot faster. When you are told, "Oh, by the way, those 50-60 hour work weeks you put in and all the on call time you have had, well, it's only worth 0.86% to the company." I mean it just sends the message that you are only worth 0.86%

We are okay without a raise, just disappointed. It just plain sucks. I am more mad for DH because the guy puts in a lot of hours, even at home.

Okay...off my ranting soapbox now.

I can understand your frustration, but your husband's raise is going to be more than mine....no one here is getting a raise!

I guess given the really odd percentage - that is what their intention was?

I know that no raises sucks because I have been there. AND at the time I was working in the Accounting department and got to see the amounts of all the Executives Bonus checks. Some of them where many multiples of my yearly salary. That pissed me off big time.

I really hope that everybody has a better 2003. I have a neighbor that has been out of work for over a year now. :(

I understand your frustration! My DH also works 50-60 hours per week, plus is on-call 24/7. Annual reviews and raises are done in March at the company he works for. Last year, for the 1st time in over 10 years, his company put a freeze on raises. It was disappointing, but we are appreciative that he has a good job. However, the real kicker came in January of this year, when the insurance costs increased, and his 2-week take-home pay dropped by $21 per check, or $42 per month. Granted, $42 will not make us or break us, but it's very disheartening to see your paycheck go DOWN, especially after not getting a raise all last year. Next month is raise time again, and the company is promising an increase. I just hope it's enough to cover the additional insurance costs. It's frustrating to work so hard, but then feel like you're never getting ahead financially in terms of your salary. It's just like treading water. You can keep afloat, but you're not going anywhere. I definitely understand how you feel!

I can relate. My DH is not getting a raise this year or next. They are going to give raises deferred in stock. The good news is that stock hopefully has bottomed out. I can't imagine that it could go lower unless they go into bankruptcy. Last year our stock was at 23 and now it's somewhere in the low 4's. You can imagine what our 401K looks like. Thankfully we have 16 years before retirement. Also insurance went up by $160 a pay period! I just happy he has a good job and right now he's happy. The bummer is that he got a promotion without going up a pay grade and his boss assured him that he would be compensated at review time.

We just hope stock goes up and if it does we can make out well.

I too feel your pain! Try being a "single mom"............ I haven't seen a raise in 3 years :( I work for my family, but unfortunately my dad has a partner that is the worst man even to step foot on this earth! With the costs of insurance continually going up (which is sooooo ridiculous and another whole rant session!) and the "decrease" in pay it is near impossible to make ends meet anymore.

I just continue to take each day for what its worth! ;) Some day, some how, some way things have got to get better! :p

My son had to take a 6% cut :( Sorry your husband's raise wasn't as much as you had hoped.
