Can you imagine how hard it will be to get booked on tha first sailing of that one?!?!?!?!?!?!:scared1:

Maybe the first sailing will be after I retire and I'll have all the time in the world to go anywhere I want. One can dream, can't he??? ;)

I wonder if you can send an request to IC just saying "The inaugural cruise of the next Disney ship! Any room will do." :rolleyes1

It means to ferociously ask him a ton of questions until he tells me to shut up

Is that a Texas thing that only I grew up hearing? Sorry !!!!!!!!!! You know we have a lot of weird expressions that only make sense to other Texans. My husband still laughs about me asking if someone wants a coke and then asking what kind. (All soda is coke in TX)

Okay I wasn't going to post until I actually booked this cruise, but I already feel like I am left out & far behind everyone else! The prices are scaring me, but the more DH & I talk about it...the more we really want to do this. Hopefully me, DH, DD 14, & DS 11 will be joining you all! Hi to some old friends & I can't wait to get to know some new ones! :wave2:

I'm sorry, I thought it was a typo, and you wanted to say pump him for info. That's what we would say around here. :rotfl:

Did anyone see the blurb last night on the news about United Airlines and their FF miles. You only have 18 months now to use them. I was saving mine for Hawaii. Guess I will use them for LA

 Hi Diane!!! Nice to see you stop by and pay us a visit!!!

I am sorry for taking away all the topics. How about a new topic???????????

Lets give interesting ideas of things we can find to do in Cartagena.

I asked DH that question. He used to work counternarcotics off South & Central America. He assured me that there are many "intereseting" facets of Cartagena, but none that he would get his family involved with. I think I can talk him into a big group thing, though. We're both bummed that we don't dock in Panama. There are several places he would like to show me.

Actually, DH's last trip through the PC was much closer to a pirate experience than this lap of luxury endeavor. His team busted a drug running fishing vessel off the coast of Panama many years ago. After the crew was arrested, his 7-man team sailed the ship through the PC and up to Miami . . .while sitting on more than 2 tons of cocaine in the fuel tank. How is that for loot? He was the highest ranking guy on the team, so he has actually captained a vessel through the PC. It was his pirate command. pirate:

Should we start that thread now??

Just think, it could be the first 1,000,000 post thread in DIS history!

Okay guys I was just informed that wasn't even a TX expression---
It comes from my medical roots. To pimp a med student or intern/resident is to fire questions at them in a rapid succession, testing their knowledge. Guess I picked it up after years in a medical training hospital.

I redceived a DCL mailing today about the Magic going to the West Coast in 2008, did anyone else receive one in the mail? :upsidedow

It only talks about the west coast cruises, doesn't mention anything about the PC repo sailings.

OMG!

My spouse and I have almost 750,000 miles between the two of us. I'm going to have to look into this ASAP.:sad2:

OK... FALSE ALARM.....

Yeah... they changed the rules to drop the length of time inactive accounts can "bank" their miles from 2 years (or longer?) to 18 months. That does not really effect me or most people in my opinion. Under the new rules - within a year and a half you need to do one of the following:

  • fly on United or one of its 28 airline partners
  • use or sign-up for a Mileage Plus Visa credit or debit card
  • purchase products or services from more than 100 travel and retail partners
  • use miles by taking a trip to one of the 841 destinations United and its partners serve
  • use miles for merchandise, hotel stays and dining
  • transfer miles to another Mileage Plus member
  • donate miles to the Mileage Plus Charity Miles program

Essentially - all you have to do is earn some miles by doing something once every 18 months and your miles remain active. I rarely fly anyone else so the miles I have banked at American Airlines require the same thing of me - that I earn a few AA miles every couple of years to keep 'em active. The real loss is that UA miles expire faster then some of their competitors ... like AA. However, as I understand it the flight credits with UA do last much longer then some airlines (like SW and ATA or those low cost airlines - unless I am mistaken as I did not check them before posting this). Actually, the FF miles on UA, AA and other regular airlines can last indefinately so long as you remain an active patron in some way once every 18-24 months.

And for what it's worth - I thought it was charming how UA justified their reduction in benefit avlue to us all by saying:

Chicago, Jan. 19, 2007 – United Airlines today announced that Mileage Plus frequent flyer miles that are in accounts which are inactive for 18 months will expire. By shortening the amount of time a Mileage Plus account can remain inactive, United’s most loyal customers will compete with fewer people for award seats, making it easier for them to redeem their miles.

“This change makes our Mileage Plus program better for customers who are most loyal to United, reduces our operating costs and brings our program in line with major competitors,”

This assumes UA will not reduce the number of available SAVER award seats on any of it's routes. Or, that they will not increase the number of miles needed to redeem any awards. Of course, any changes later are entirely seperate events completely seperate from the changes on the 18th. NOW = to be perfectly fair they should allow our miles to be grandfathered "value terms" based on the rules that were in effect when we earned them! Oh well... I guess they would probably something like - "Now... THAT wouldn't be any FUN now would it?"!

OK... now back to our regularly scheduled programming....
