Here's another pic of the neighbor's house behind mine. They "did" have a canopy off the back of their house, it is destroyed as well as their privacy fence. Looks like we have some cleaning up to do this weekend. It got up to near 60* here today. After all the rain earlier, the sun is now shining bright.

That "was/is" my chainlink fence!!! If the tree had fallen towards our house, it would have landed on Angelina's bedroom roof. :scared1:

Since Hazel is away, I have to go pick up Angelina from school, I can't wait to see what she has to say when she sees the mess in our backyard.

WOW! Thank goodness it was just a canopy and not part of their house. It looks like the one next door got hit as the tree was coming down as well.

The ironic part...they don't know yet if he has prostate cancer. Hence the reason for the biopsy. Now we play the waiting game until Tuesday, but all things look good that it will be negative. Thanks for your prayer!!!:flower3:

Hoping for the best for your family, Karen. :grouphug:

I guess in a way, I wasn't surprised that they did that. I think that pretty much tells you what snakes they are going to turn into. I bet they were all kicking themselves, too, for not asking Papa Smurf to "hang in there" one more day. They probably would have preferred to just dump him then! :headache:

Was he interviewed anywhere today? Wondering what was wrong with him.

So it fell between your houses...  So glad no one was hurt....

From the picture though (as someone who's studied unhealthy trees) from the way the trunk was formed and the fallen trunk and what remaining. that tree wasn't too healthy to start out.....The storm and the wind probably caused the inevitable.

It just kills me sometimes when i see dangerous trees around and trees with huge damaged limbs hanging.

The tree trunk looked rather bad on the inside, here's a pic I took of the trunk.

Keeping your family in my thoughts & prayers!

Yup that tree was a gonner..... I could tell more by the split trunk of and the big scar up around that rot that looked like another stem was removed sometime prior....

OK, had to step out of my office for some W*RK...That is such a BAD 4-letter word!!

Let me just say :grouphug: and lots of pixie dust to all of you with family illnesses. :grouphug: :wizard:

Andy, I'm SO glad it was just your fence, and not your house!! And I'm glad no one was hurt!! :grouphug:

I remember our local county forester telling me that old trees tend to rot out on the inside, which makes them more likely to be blown over by heavy winds--much like snapping one of those coffee stirrer straws by folding it.

Hopefully, the tree owners will be able to do most of the clean up. Do you know anyone who heats with wood? I bet they'd be excited to see so much wood available, and would be happy to lend a chain saw to the effort.

Hope you are ok VM

Yea, I'm hanging in there. Our family doc put me on 15mg of Mobic at the start of the week, I think it is finally kicking in as my knees have been feeling a bit better the last couple of days.

Oh, dinner is here, gotta run!!! Be back in a bit

I don't know about cake, but since Hazel is gone for the weekend, Angelina and I just ordered Chinese take-out, should be here soon, yum! yum! :)

YUMM!! I'd like to say that I will have chinese take-out tonight, but I am taking grandma shopping, and it's lent...and it's friday...so it's probably going to be fish...
Maybe I could talk her into Red lobster...MMMmmmm! Crab legs!!! :thumbsup2

I guess we will be first though as i have a sophmore and 8th grader now.. the college anvil is lurking over my head... everytime I think about an expense i weigh it against college tution... well almost every expense.. not the repo cruise.. that is a once in a life time event

We do the same with current 8th graders, but our concern is they will be getting drivers permits in June '08, so we are weighing cost of cruise with a car for them :confused3 Since we did the '05 repo it's really our "twice in a lifetime event" versus a car to relieve Mom's Taxi Service!
