Lisa,

I haven't had a chance to really catch up but just saw mention of your DH's GM. I just wanted to say how sorry I am:grouphug: .

Mary

Oh, Lisa! That's the pits. At least she had plenty of food, even if it wasn't the sandwich she was expecting.

Last week, I told my kids that they could buy lunch because it was pizza day. They were SO disappointed when they discovered that lunch was tuna sandwiches. I guess there was a menu change due to weather related closings. They were some HUNGRY kids at dinnertime.

I can speak form experience(I'm a Lunch Lady) sometimes the supplies that we order don't come in. So we end up having "Manager's Choice" A lot of times that's just what we have an over abundance of. Case in point, we had 40 bags of chicken nuggets,so guess what we had for lunch yesterday!:lmao:

I received some bad news when I woke up this morning and have been trying to deal with that. DH's GM died Wednesday night. I haven't been able to reach him yet but the service wont be for a couple weeks. She will be buried with her DH in Arlington National Cemetary so we have to wait for an opening. Gram was a very sweet lady who I didn't meet until her DH died, but she and the rest of the family treated me wonderfully. We had just sent out our engagement announcements the week before his accident. She has been in a rest home for quite a while since suffering with alzheimer's. She died peacefully in her sleep, so that is comforting.

I just wanted you to know if I am not around much today.

May we offer our prayers and sincere condolences
to your family in this time of loss...

What are most people doing before the cruise? Disneyland? I'm debating. In 05 we stayed at Huntington Beach and really enjoyed it. Anyone else doing something different?

Mary

Karen--

That is the most ultimately superty cool chocolate EVER.

I have to most wholeheartedly agree with you there! Must have one... must. have. one.

I've had a very L-O-N-G, got alot done, but feel like I didn't accomplish a thing, ever have one of those days???

I'm sitting here falling asleep in my Lazy Boy.

Yes, I have those days... like everyday. LOL

Hello everyone .. First I want to thank you all for your kind words. I probably overreacted a bit, but I have problems speaking up for myself (I think it comes from being the baby girl in a family of four brothers and one older sister) and felt that I needed to at this point while the mood was with me. At the time, I felt like I was back in highschool and I really wanted to join the Cool group and couldn't quite get my foot in the door. This was my attempt to get that foot in and belong! ( BTW. You good folks are the cool group. You seem like a fun group of people that I could really get along with and would be honoured to get to know.)

After all your kind words, I am starting to feel like I fit in. I will follow up with the Picnic thing and I would love to work with the committee for a DIS meet.

Lisa .. I very sorry to here about your husbands Grandmother .. Please offer him my sympathy.

By the way ... My name is Mary Jane ... but I have always gone by MJ ... Just couldn't get away from the nickname.
Aww, I'm sorry we made you feel that way.
Hey, I won't forget you name! I'll just think of spiderman everytime I think of you/say your name/etc. It's all about association people... that's how to remember things. LOL

UGH! :sad2: Of course I felt terrible when the kids came home & DD asked me why I didn't pack a sandwich in her lunchbox. :guilty: There were PB crackers and other things for her to eat but I guess that I was so distracted this morning trying to contact my ILs to find out about DH's GM and getting the kids out the door on time that I missed that.
Oh no! That happens... but here they'd be calling me to bring them something. Curses for living so close to the schools. LOL

Oh I hate that. I hate that they give us a menu and then half the time they don't serve that! I usually make the kids lunches but on occasion I will let them eat a school lunch if it's something good that I KNOW they will eat (especially the picky youngest) and then I send them off with lunch money and it ends up being something totally different... either something they don't really like or something *I* wouldn't have liked them to have for lunch- like a big pretzel as the main entree. THAT'S NOT LUNCH, THAT'S JUNKFOOD. ugh

I'm sorry to hear about your brother ... Chris is a very special man. We took him to Disney in 2000 and he still goes on about it. He keeps showing us a picture of It's a small World and we all have to sing the song. He uses sign and we ask him about Disney he signs an airplane flying and says Mouse while nodding. I really think he wants to go back.
awww, it sure does sound like he wants to go again! He sounds so sweet. :) I bet he's a joy to be around.

Warned ya! :lmao:
Ack! Does this mean Captain is going to be throwing things at me? If so, I must warn you... DH has a short temper. I'm just saying... we don't need a throw down before the cruise even starts! (I'm kidding because I know he's kidding... it's all a joke people... before you get riled up)

There is nothing wrong with that. :) I know that we are not planning to be at DL that Saturday but if others will be & would like to get together for lunch with this, that is an option for them. Noone is going to be at every event onboard the ship either. Who ever would like to go is welcome...but nothing is manditory. :thumbsup2
I'm glad you said that because I did go find the info on the other board and it looks too expensive for our family of 5. At first it seems reasonable but when you times it by 5... we probably won't be able to swing that. It sounds like a great idea for those that can afford it though!

Congrats! I should be there very soon too, I'm one of those who will probably have more posts on this thread than in the 5 years I've been on the DIS boards :rotfl:

Michelle
The same might be said for me... but I'll have a ways to go before I have more posts on this thread than all the years I've been on this board! (ps. I was actually here a little earlier than it says now- name change started over my 'start date')

I have several of those days every week. Yesterday I did the laundry, ironed the curtains, had to dust the window frames & the blinds before I could put them up, ironed the other clothes, put the mounding basket of clean clothes away, put away the iron & board...and the house didn't look any different than it had before I started on everything. :sad2:
Yep, that's how my days are every day. I think my problem is that I have kids just messing everything up way faster than I can clean it. I can't win- it's me against 3. LOL

We aren't planning on flying in until the day before so I guess we'll just be hanging out at the hotel.

And in the "things that make you go hmmm" department:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry says that it's just a coincidence that he and eight other lawmakers received donations of $5,000 each from Merck lobbyists just a few days before mandating the drug giant's HPV cervical cancer vaccine for all females in Texas ages 12 and up.

The main lobbyist for Merck previously worked as Chief of Staff for Gov. Perry. Several other states are considering making the vaccine mandatory, thanks in part to Merck's aaggressive lobbying.

Yeah...

... I shared BIPs comments on this HPV vaccine... and even though she is in the pharmaceuticals industry the first thing she breathed was that this sort of vaccine should be a CHOICE and not necessarily a mandated item. Without going into all the details ... we tend to side with the opinions we've encuntered which disagree with the Government agendas emerging in support of this becoming a mandated vaccine. And may I add that your discovery of these $5000 donations coinciding with movement in govenment favoring HPV smacks with a slick stink of foul gas. TO think they were influenced by such a small sum is NOT my issue... rather the idea that they take ANY money at all is offensive when it involves our children. In effect... these in government have sold our childrens' and families' choice in the matter for a relative pittance.

If I were in the state where this happened I would be severely outraged. I am sorry to see this sort of developement come to pass. I hope it does not become a similar issue in California - as if it did I wonder what I would do to exercise my discontent. :confused3

We may end up doing that also. Between the cost of this cruise and the time off we may end up flying in the morning before. I'm already stressing about leaving my honey (our fur baby) for two weeks.

BIP...

You're so funny... you're all into this multi-quote mass response thing and I gotta hand it to ya for conserving posting FLUFF... while at the same time I'd like to declare I still hold the record for replying to 10 postings in the SHORTEST bit of space... so far. Ya can post a more numerous multi-quote reply ... but I still am the most efficient multi-quoter with any significant size.

<chuckles>

We are definitely planning on doing DL before the cruise, how much depends on funds we have at the time. But it's probably the only time our kids will get to go to DL, so we're going.
We MAY, however, also do US while there... we'll see.

Paula, I hope your DH does better with the oxycodone than I did, that stuff made me as sick as a dog. I hope your DH has a speedy and complete recovery. :thumbsup2

Oxy---- I've got that.... and Hydromorphone ......(ok running out of that)

but my favorite was the morphine drip in the PCA pump after surgery....

That stuff totally keeps you comfy..... (except except for those psycho dreams you have while your taking them....):cloud9:

LOL
I'm only into the multi-quote thing for 2 reasons:
1. I'm nosey so I actually read all the posts and therefore I'm almost always behind... I read and by the time I catch up to the most recent page (that had been the most recent page when I started) at that point I'm still behind another 20 pages. unfortunately no one stops posting when I want to let me catch up. LOL

2. I talk a lot..... so then I actually want to respond to a lot of what I have read. Hence.. multi-quoting.

I don't think you need ever fear I will take your title away- for the most multi-quotes in the smallest space. :rotfl:

. He wasn't supposed to live past 2 years old, so I would say he is a success story ...

Congrats on the vet status MJ.....

We have a family friend who is a couple years younger than me that has down syndrome. (so He's 30'ish) i think they expect him to live for awhile longer also. His mother has trust accounts and such set-up to take care of him if something should happen to her. (His father passed away from a heart problem when i was a teen) but there is an older brother and sister around too.

Hi Everyone,
The rain stopped and it was a beautiful day here in So. Cal - I'm pulling out my roller blades and skating on the strand tomorrow - BTW for those who haven't been here "the strand" is a paved walkway adjacent to the beach - in the Santa Monica area the path actually runs through the middle of the beach.
I only have a minute as I'm preparing our TGIF dinner -- 1st Cosmos then Seared Ahi w/Balsamic Glaze, Grilled Asparagus, Rice Pilaf.
Lisa - my condolences on the loss of DH's grandmother. All of my grandparents/parents have long been gone - but I still miss them.
I'll try to check back later - I never have enough time and I have no idea where it goes!
Chris

I go this coming Tuesday to get x-rays of both of my knees(again). I go back to see my orthopedic surgeon in March to see what the next course of action is going to be. :confused3

Alan is sound asleep on he couch. He woud probably more comfortable in bed, but that is upstairs. He said earlier that he felt alittle queasy, but seems to be doing great. Hopefully that will be the case in the morning.

Andy, I truly hope you get some good news in March. I have felt for you so many days with your weather and you doing all that walking and bending in your job. I can't imagine having already gone through 7 surgeries. You must be a really special person to keep perservering.:)

Paula just read last night's posts about your DH's surgery today and then your recent post that he made out okay :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Wishing me a speedy recovery!!!!!

Thanks MR, he seems to be doing well.:)

Hello

Back from WDW & Universal, anyone miss me :lmao: anyone notice that I was gone?:rotfl:

Okay ride review, the new Nemo ride 10, the new Monster's Inc laugh floor 5 (though the kids liked it more then me) That Mummy ride at Universal 10!

Thats all for now!

Glad you had a nice trip:cool1:

Lisa, i get tired just thinking about how much work you do....

I've been fighting a loosing battle trying to keep the counters clean and keep the laundry moving. i know there's a bunch in my room but DH forgot to take it downstairs.....

Next week is study study study...but i haven't found my notes yet....

Tonight we did take Abby to the dog wash and gave her the full bath treatment. (ears, eyes, and nails too)

The guy who runs the place had extra hours for our dog club members. We are having our breed specialty this weekend (lots of entries for tomorrow and Sunday) DH and i are helping out where we can as club members.

But Abby looks so puffy and clean right now.....it won't last for long but i like her to look like the other show dogs even if she's off-standard. (too tall for a girl)
