Welcome to the Babbles Club! :thumbsup2

I have several of those days every week. Yesterday I did the laundry, ironed the curtains, had to dust the window frames & the blinds before I could put them up, ironed the other clothes, put the mounding basket of clean clothes away, put away the iron & board...and the house didn't look any different than it had before I started on everything. :sad2:

That is because you did things only YOU notice. But I am sure that it made you feel great knowing it was done!

California Anti-Spanking Bill Dropped

http://www.smdailyjournal.com/article_preview.php?id=71290

SACRAMENTO — A Democratic lawmaker on Thursday abandoned her heavily ridiculed campaign to make spanking a crime, acknowledging that the bill which had become fodder for late-night comedians would get whacked even in California’s sometimes whimsical Legislature.

Instead, San Francisco Bay-Area Assemblywoman Sally Lieber introduced a more narrow bill she said would help district attorneys more easily prosecute parents who cross the line from punishment into physical abuse.

Lieber’s new bill, however, still might not hit the mark with her colleagues.

She is seeking to classify a laundry list of physical acts against young children, including hitting with a belt, switch or stick, as unjustifiable and grounds for prosecution, probation, or a parental time-out — a class on nonviolent parenting.

Whether her bill passes or not, spanking a child on the buttocks — even to the point of injury — will remain legal in California, Lieber said.

“Clearly, I take exception with that part of the law, but the votes are simply not there” to change it, Lieber said, facing a bank of eight television cameras and the largest media spotlight the soft-spoken Democrat has ever encountered.

Until last month, the liberal Mountain View lawmaker was perhaps best known for authoring the state’s minimum-wage increase.

Then Lieber, who has no children, attracted overnight, nationwide criticism after she pledged to introduce an anti-spanking bill to protect children and curb violence. Her idea was even the subject of a “Saturday Night Live” parody.

Conservative and family-values groups lashed out at her proposal, charging that criminalizing spanking epitomized overbearing “nanny” government.

We aren't planning on flying in until the day before so I guess we'll just be hanging out at the hotel.

We probably won't be flying in until the day before as well and I'm starting to look at hotel options. Where do you think most people will stay, the port area? I'm wondering to how to get from LAX to the port... rent a car, shuttle bus? Good thing there is lots of time for planning:hourglass

What are most people doing before the cruise? Disneyland? I'm debating. In 05 we stayed at Huntington Beach and really enjoyed it. Anyone else doing something different?

Mary

Hi Mary, we are planing probably 2 nights at DL. Probably go to the parks 1 day. If Magic Mountain is still open, we may stay 3 nights. DH and DS would go to MM while I found something else to do. I really would like to see some other sites in CA. But time wise it is really going to be difficult to squeeze more than 3 days there prior.

I think if I remember that you posted info about HB a while back in the posts? I know I followed a link about that. The resort looked nice.

Congratulations, I have such a long way to go to reach any kind of status!! Where in Ontario do you live? We are Canadians as well and lived in Ontario for 5 years. We are in CA right now but this summer we are moving to Alberta. I think I will go into Target withdrawl so right now I'm on a bit of a shopping frenzy, I only have 4 more months left to shop:eek:

SWMBO really wants to do DL, if we can afford. One of our issues with booking this cruise was 2008 was to be our year to go back to WDW. We didn't go last year because we had the 10-day HC booked and we purposely were skipping this year (and now with the 'vacation of a lifetime', couldn't afford it) to go out West, so it'll been three years w/o a Disney park fix and we are used to going every year.

So, if we can afford, we will be at DL for a couple of days before the cruise.

Which is why we don't bother any more. We've decided to enjoy the 'lived in' look. (What I call the 'pig sty' look, however.)

There is nothing wrong with that. :) I know that we are not planning to be at DL that Saturday but if others will be & would like to get together for lunch with this, that is an option for them. Noone is going to be at every event onboard the ship either. Who ever would like to go is welcome...but nothing is manditory. :thumbsup2

Except for the black T-****s, right?

I'm sorry to hear about your brother ... Chris is a very special man. We took him to Disney in 2000 and he still goes on about it. He keeps showing us a picture of It's a small World and we all have to sing the song. He uses sign and we ask him about Disney he signs an airplane flying and says Mouse while nodding. I really think he wants to go back.

That is so sweet. My best friend from college has two children living with Downs. They tell me how tough it is sometimes, but wouldn't trade it for anything.

Last summer we did the water park at MM and I don't want to offend anyone but I thought it was the biggest rip-off ever!! If people think the food prices at Disney are expensive, you haven't seen anything:eek:
I think I may have ended up with food poisining too or it was really strange timing that I got that sick after eating at the food court. Anyway, its just my opinion:rolleyes1

Hello everyone .. First I want to thank you all for your kind words. I probably overreacted a bit, but I have problems speaking up for myself (I think it comes from being the baby girl in a family of four brothers and one older sister) and felt that I needed to at this point while the mood was with me. At the time, I felt like I was back in highschool and I really wanted to join the Cool group and couldn't quite get my foot in the door. This was my attempt to get that foot in and belong! ( BTW. You good folks are the cool group. You seem like a fun group of people that I could really get along with and would be honoured to get to know.)
.

MJ, these guys and gals here accepted (or at least tolerated) me posting here and I've never been in the 'cool' group any time in my life. I know how you felt and felt that way in the first group I posted in.

I want to thank evryone again for the well wishes for Alan DH. i have read him some of the posts and they made him laugh. Maybe sometime in the next 18 months or so he'll chime in.

I am going to :happytv: L&O and head for the bed. I am usually off on Sat. but I had some employees need off, so I get to work a whole shift.... But am off Sunday and Monday.

Catch you fine pirates later.

That was the "Happy Ending" dessert offered at Cinderella's Royal Table last year. Yum yum yum!

SWMBO preferred this one from the 10-night HC in December:

DH & DS thought the roller coasters they watched on utube looked awesome.
I can ride a couple of coasters and then I am done for the day. So I know that I wouldn't want to tag around with them.

I feel really bad doing all these as multi quote but I haven't had much time today to get on the DIS with the accountants here, so as I've had time I've been on and I finally got all caught up.

I hadn't thought about Hep A vaccacines - DH and DS have B done, I haven't. I'll have to speak with out Dr's about when the best time to have them done is.

Prayers and pixie dust that everything goes well today.

Yes, the musical smilies are making CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on 100! That is just the beginning...

No Mickey love here - they've never sent us anything.:sad2:

Stop the insanity!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a great trip!

I think you have WAY too much time on your hands! But it was interesting to see!

Me too!

Oh Lisa, I'm so very sorry! :grouphug: To everyone.

Stay safe!

I thought we changed that to red and pink?pirate:

I like it when you quote a multi-quote and it quotes only what the person who did the quoting quoted and not the quotor's original quotes. It's like a stream of conscience post.

(And my explanation sounds like CJS talking to Gibbs in Tortuga...)

My DS & DD really would like to go MM and do the rollercoasters too, the little daredevils they are. I'm kinda hoping they forget about it though before we move back. We just keep taking them to DL where the coaster in DCA seems to satisfy them, for now anyway
