Glad you cleared that up. I thought not only did you forget, but then your mother was taking him?

Wow, we are so lucky! This is the first thread I ever participated in.![]()
Thanks so much! Appreciate the medical perspective in laymans terms.![]()
I think there is tremendous misinformation on this vaccine. It is tough that it is sexually related and the goverment is in on it. That turns a lot of people off and they do not necessarily listen to the benefits.
Reality is, especially in Texas, there are a LOT of kids who are not in situations where they receive proper parental supervision- they are the ones that need it the most.

Goodnight everyone. Going power shopping tomorrow. One of the department stores (Carson's) has 85% off !!!![]()
Waring Soap Box Time
I would like to offer my opinion on this from a medical standpoint. First, I do not agree with government mandating vaccinations, except in the case of communicable disease that can spread in schools (Measles, Mumps, Hepatitis and yes even Chicken Pox's). I will return to chicken pox later. Second point and the most important is that you are all missing the point of the HPV vaccination. You are all under the impression that it is for the protection against the STD Human papillomaviruses, which it is. The problem with this is that it is not intended to stop the HPV as a STD (like a syphilis or GC vaccine) but for the prevention of cervical cancer in your daughters. It just happens that there is strong evidence that suggest that HPV is associated with cervical cancer. Yes the vaccine is new. Yes the vaccine does work. The problem that the public has with new vaccines is that you think that one shot should take care of the problem. With any new vaccine that stimulates the bodies immune system is that we are not sure how long the immunity lasts. Vaccines would never be marketed if they were required to determine what the 10-20 year outcomes of vaccine were required before marketing. This vaccinine has the potential for preventing a certain kind of cancer in your daugthers. Down the road a second or third booster may be required. If it is, would you not be willing to have your daughters receive a booster to prevent cervical cancer. Why am I harping on this? I have seen too many young and older women die of cervical cancer during my time in the hospital. 10,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year with at least 4,000 deaths. The vaccine needs to be administered early for that immunity to be developed. If you wait too long to administer it you may not be successful in stopping the virus. It is not about STD! It is about protecting your daughters form cervical cancer. I would also advocate the vaccination of boys as well to try to end this disease, but insurance companies will not go for this. The dicision is up to you as parents on whether you want to protect your children.
OK, I have my flame proof clothes on so let me have it.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled programing.

Some of us on this thread are part of the other group as well. I was planning to do things with both groups.
I don't think MJ was talking about merging the two groups. When she said she would call to gather information, I assumedupsidedow ) she meant info for this group.
I'm sure whoever puts this together will be asked for a date and time that they are interested in. There may or may not be a conflict.
I think it's strange/odd that several hundred people will avoid something just because a few people had a problem.
If it's something you're interested in go for it. Who knows if or when you'll have the opportunity again.![]()
Well I, for one, will vehemently disagree with that sentence.... unless you meant people like physically protesting or something? (at first I took it to mean those protesting against it like as in what I have already said on this thread, but now I'm not sure if that's what you meant)I feel the people protesting the most probably will need it the most...
"coerced"
I just thought you were Swedish?![]()
My thoughts? Well, My big problem is the lack of the testings done. I feel the people protesting the most probably will need it the most... That being said, if we do wind up with a daughter when the baby is born (in May), then we will have plenty of time to see the future effects.
Again, I don't like government telling me what to do, but I think this is a good thing to do...

The person who posted this is also with the other site who is planning this and I believe they are participating in it. I don't want anyone here to be misled about what they are signing up for or who they are signing up with in order to get the minimum number of people needed to participate.
Ohhh, okay. now your post makes sense.
Rather odd to make a post about did we want her to look into this, when she's already posting on a board that is already planning this and already has the info about it already? Sly one that.

That's not fair.
Just because she posted on a different board a few times, doesn't mean she's doing something underhanded. She hasn't even posted on the thread in question.

That's not fair.
Has anyone contacted MJ to find out what her intentions were?
Maybe she saw the information there and thought it would be something fun for the DIS group to do.Just because she posted on a different board a few times, doesn't mean she's doing something underhanded. She hasn't even posted on the thread in question.
Wow, we are so lucky!![]()
Especially in Texas????

As long as you are not in CA.![]()
-- and here come those people from DFACS again). I'm an 'old school' parent.SO while I am up ranting by myself . . .
Reading about people who received e-mails about the new ships reminded me of something.
I think Disney hates me.
We've been to a park (WDW or DL) every year since we had kids in 1998.
We had WDW passes when we lived in FL
Cruised DCL 2x - '08 will be 3, we're on an every other year schedule (CC members, right?)
I buy everything with my Disney Visa
Disney shareholders (OK 2 shares, but still!)
Buy oodles of stuff from Disney Shopping
Disney Insider e-mail list
HAVE I EVER RECEIVED A POSTCARD, E-MAIL, OR ANYTHING ELSE????
NNNNOOOOOOOO! We've certainly never been family of the minute for any department.
I even had to call 3 months after our last cruise to see if they would send me the little CD kit-thingy I found out about on the Dis.
Come on Mickey - where's the love?

I'm not advocating for the vaccine but I copied this from the CDC:
The HPV vaccine is recommended for 11-12 year-old girls, and can be given to girls as young as 9. The vaccine is also recommended for 13-26 year-old girls/women who have not yet received or completed the vaccine series.
These recommendations have been proposed by the ACIPa national group of experts that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on vaccine issues. These recommendations are now being considered by CDC.
Why is the HPV vaccine recommended for such young girls?
Ideally, females should get the vaccine before they are sexually active. This is because the vaccine is most effective in girls/women who have not yet acquired any of the four HPV types covered by the vaccine. Girls/women who have not been infected with any of those four HPV types will get the full benefits of the vaccine.
Will sexually active females benefit from the vaccine?
Females who are sexually active may also benefit from the vaccine. But they may get less benefit from the vaccine since they may have already acquired one or more HPV type(s) covered by the vaccine. Few young women are infected with all four of these HPV types. So they would still get protection from those types they have not acquired. Currently, there is no test available to tell if a girl/woman has had any or all of these four HPV types.
Why is the HPV vaccine only recommended for girls/women ages 9 to 26?
The vaccine has been widely tested in 9-to-26 year-old girls/women. But research on the vaccines safety and efficacy has only recently begun with women older than 26 years of age. The FDA will consider licensing the vaccine for these women when there is research to show that it is safe and effective for them.
Dh wont answer the phone here at all. He can be next to it in the kitchen & I have to get up & go in there if I want to know who it is.
I just got home and saw my email... same as yours'... 2 ships in 2011 and 2012 at 122,000 tons (versus 83,000 tons for the Magic and Wonder)... and the new ships will have 1,250 cabins. Of course, the big kicker is they're naming the captain of the 1st of the two... It's gonna be someone named Captain Crash?! <chuckles>
I didn't know that we were the family of the week........
now granted we snuck them desert every night....I just thought it was a thank you for all the little snacks.....
