Oy! I think I am about 3000 posts behind. Not as bad as thought being away for more than two days. Apparently I had an ovarian cyst that burst so I was in the ER on Tuesday night. Feeling almost back to normal today.:thumbsup2 Now to try and find where I left off....

:flower3: Hope you feel better!!!

Speaking of Dogs, that's my Rosee in my Avatar ... We lost her to Cancer in September. We still have her Uncle, Budde, who is adjusting but is still very clingy!

A Bichon Frise? Very cute as well....all of these dogs are. And I've been meaning to tell Joel how much I like his avatar. Love it, Joel!!

I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Rosee!

Lisa - I hope DS is OK!

Well, I'll be signing off for a while - heading home and then some fun stuff for DS's birthday. We'll be sure to save a piece of cake for everyone. I'll be back on later (probably after 8).

Oh good. I like cake.

It's the funniest thing....He rolls onto his back and shimmies back and forth with all four legs outstretched. He looks just like he's trying to make a snow angel.:goodvibes

My dog did that too!!
Well, we decided we are going to get a puppy when we get back from Hawaii in March. It's going to be a pain in the tookus driving across the country with a puppy! However, we are going to keep our AK house & rent a house near DC. We figured our future landlord would deal better with 'we have a dog' than 'we're getting a puppy the week after we move in'.

Side note - how sad is it that we both have professional-type exec. level jobs & we can't afford to buy a freeking house within an hour of DC? hhhmmmmmmmppp.

One thing that he can't abide is an open door! Or open anything for that matter...doors, drawers, the dishwasher...all have to be closed up--no matter that I'm putting dishes into the dishwasher! :rotfl: Nope, close that sucker up.

Oh, I feel sorry for his future wife - DH does the same thing!
and I bet right now at home at least 2 of my dresser drawers are open. . .

 I understand the loss. Sadie was my pillow mate for almost 18 years. I lost her while I was in London almost three years ago now. I think JoJo stills looks for her every now and then.

Good point.....what breed do you want to get?

I'm worried Sloopy will be the same way when something happens to Beau. I hope and pray Beau can make it to 18 like Sadie, and still be happy and healthy.

I have just added this information to the front page but wanted to post it as well. Pam and Laura have volunteered to organize a Secret Mickey for the cruise. There is lots of time to sign up but I wanted to let you guys know about this. :)

Being a newbie, what's a secret Mickey? Is it like secret Santa?

Probably another lab'n'somethin'. I'm all about the free puppies from a rescue place.

Cuya was a black lab-springer spaniel. Her mom (springer) & dad (lab) both had papers (OOPS!)

Sloopy - that name cracks me up. :lmao: What are you going to name your next dog? Brutus? Sweatervest?

That sounds great....my brother has a yellow lab-Husky mix. She is so cute, and very smart!

Our occupations...

I have the fortune to be a SAHM. I do work partime from home doing book keeping, administrative stuff and minor web site stuff. DD keeps me busy as an assistant leader to a Brownie Troop of 19.:scared1: And I am the secretary to DDs school's PTO.

DH was EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) when in active duty for the Army. Now he works for them as a civilian as an Explosives Safety Manager.

Will never have time to catch up on this board...if you miss a few hours you are lost, forget about a few days...:rotfl2:

Anyway, my piratepirate: name is Mad Bess Kidd - Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

I have had to close down my shop most of the week, since the boiler went out and we are converting it over to gas (lousy timing), but it looks good to get the heat on by tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crosses and praying lots because I have an All Day Crop scheduled for this Sunday, and cannot afford to cancel it. :sad2:

Debi
Hopefully, everything will be right on target for you. I know the frustration you are feeling.

awesome!!!! :thumbsup2 I love it when people rescue rather than go to a pet store. The pets that have "found" us are just the best!!!

I totally agree! Pets that are found, rescued, come from the humane society, etc. are fantastic

Of course, we take it to an extreme in our house :rolleyes1

We have 3 cats that we adopted from the shelter on purpose (the plan was to just have 3 cats...) but then DH is always dealing with what we call his "outside cats". He feeds them, has a small insulated "house" for them and whenever he cans he catches them and gets them nutered/spade. When we first moved to our house, there were easily 2 dozen ferile cats around - we are now down to about 4 - and DH's 'system' is probably the reason. At least there aren't any new ones being produced :rotfl: . Over the years, 3 of those 'outside cats' have become inside cats! 2 were tiny kittens and he was trying to get the humane society to take them, but they were so overful that year they just couldn't - eventually he got attached to them so they stayed. The 3rd was an 'outside cat' for about 3 years - we think a neighbor dumped him when they moved away - and he was really skittish for a long time, he is very intelligent and DH couldn't catch him - then he got a really bad sinus infection and slowed down enough to be caught and taken to the vet. After he recovered, he quickly decided he liked being indoors and has become our most affectionate, cuddle kitty! So yes, you've added right - we have 6 cats! DS7 has named most of them so they are Vincent VanGogh, Norman Rockwell, Dustbuster, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollack, and Tuxedo.

Everyone's pets are so adorable!
Beau is sooooo beautiful and sweet looking! Like Lassie!
oh poor Rosie :(
I'll have to show pictures of our pets later on... gotta either find some or upload some off my digi camera.

Verandah_man- she is just TOOO adorable! poots and all! :)

Captain_underpants....... hahaha

Lisa! I hope your son is okay. Scary!

Secret Mickey? I must go check out that info!

I think I'd be up for the scrapbooking swap meet or whatever it's called. I would just have to figure out what MY contribution would be. LOL But I think doing one theme/etc. and swapping like you described would be a whole lot easier than doing 10 (or whatever amount) different ones myself!

Sloopy - that name cracks me up. :lmao: What are you going to name your next dog? Brutus? Sweatervest?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Hey....don't mess with the vest!

We had a Brittany Spaniel when I was young named Buckeye. And a friend of mine has a new pup named Woody. Yes....we're all a little crazy.....

Speaking of good books ----
Anyone read the Disney endorsed book also by Ridley Pearson (Peter and the Starcatchers) called "Kingdom Keepers"?
I have only seen it at DTD but it is really good for that 8-12 crowd. Although I have to say I read it and found it to be very well done. It is about these kids who when they fall asleep at night they end up in the Magic Kingdom and have to go through all the secret passageways and solve a mystery.
I read it and LOVED it. I've seen it all over the place; most major retailers have it. I keep meaning to pick up Escape from the Carnivale. It's another one in the Peter and the Starcatchers and Peter and the Shadow Thieves series.
