Am I reading this right? Verandah man is booked without a verandah? How can this be? :scared1: Surely this must be a sign of the coming of the end of the world... or something. :confused3 :rotfl:

(and I'm not holding my breath on the tag thing- but I am having tag envy. AGAIN. You'd think I'd be used to it by now... *sigh*)

How do people get, buy or make banners? What's the process on that? Seeing as how this is probably the ONLY (but definitely the first) time we'll have a verandah... me thinks we be needing a banner. arrrrr

Uh OH ...I got Bad News for the Iron On Transfer Challenged ...I just recieved this Letter From CafePress

So they have already shut the store down .....Dang and I didnt even get to open it ....So , Looks like the Captain Jack tutorial will have to happen to help everyone out ....This will actually be better cause then you can put the logo on anything you want ....Sorry

A very good friend of our family owns a print shop. If you're ordering extra large banners in CA he's probably the guy doing the work - no matter where you make the order. Anyway, he does shirts and other stuff. given his sense of humor I'd guess he won't have a problem. I'm assuming the t-shirts were of the signature logo? Or something else?

If you wish I could send the artwork to him and see what he thinks?

What is a fish extender?

(Good morning everyone!)

Here are a few photos...

.... they are fabric hangers which go over your fish. The fish is a metal piece which has a slot behind it for holding a couple of letters - as in invites/reminders from Palo's, spa or ship bought shore extenders, captains' reception for CC members, etc. Of course, for getting lots of mail or 3D goodies it is useless. So long ago an enterprising chap/lad conceived of the FISH extender. Who... I don't know. At any rate, a certain amount of creativity may apply in the creation of your fish exender.

On my last sailing - the 11 nite southern in 06 one very kind and industrious soul offerred to hand make a fish extender for anyone on our sailing who PM'd her... for a token fee which just covered postage and maybe a a dollar and a bit for materials! Here are some photos from that sailing which have some home made ones plus the ones made by our generous contributor. Litterially, there seemed to be dozens if not a hundred of her hand made door extenders on the ship!

Here is a link to see a few FISH extenders from our last sailing: http://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=nma4cnc&P=egt3q4&AID=4286301&Show=Y

BTW... everyone one came with a zip tie to secure the fish to the hanger. It discouraged pilfering from tricksters.

Happy Saturday, all!

I have spent the past two days just trying to keep up with all of your postings!

Enna, what a sweet story! It must have been so much fun to plan it all and then see the delight on their faces.

I am glad to hear that everyone in FL and the family members are safe. I saw the pics last night and they were frightening.

I was very confused with the t-shiRt link, and I was relieved to discover that it was not my lack of computer skills that kept me from being able to see all these "cool" mugs to order. For those who have not done the ironing at home, you should not use an ironing board; you must use a firm surface. I use a marble cutting board. I will make an attempt to post a link to the very helpful disboard tips area for making your own t-shiRts. If you scroll down, it tells you what type of paper and shirts to buy, and makes suggestions as to how to do the iron on.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=892906

Make sure you check out some of the designs these people make; they are very talented!

Wow ...thats great ...I am sure the Iron - On Transfer Challenged will love this ...

Okay read study and review ...there be a test on this later :lmao: :lmao:

.....

Now to go back and see what I missed the past few hours. I guess with the boards being slow, it slowed down the # of postings.

Well...

... at least you all know the boards were not slow because of my little animations and illustration! I have not been around much these past few days to post much.

But I am here today for defending the next pirate mile marker from the "wenches". <chuckles> OK... I was just kidding... all I want is the treasure for MYSELF! As any good Pirate would! Remember, the idea is to .....

TAKE WHAT YA CAN!

ehhh you dont need no stinkin banner ...What you need is a Pirate Flag to hang from your Verandah ....Thats we did on the DEC DD ...everyone had them and when we pulled into CC the Pirate flags were waving from Verandahs and those with windows put there flags up in the windows ...It was great ....If you need the link to the Pirate flag we use (cause this is the design from POTC) here is the link to the person who sells then and they are cheap ..

Thanks!
I actually have one! Who knew! :rotfl:

Anyone who has a "shaws supermarket" in their area....PotC items are 50% off. I picked up removable wall stickers and they had some jewelry and hair thingy's.....

This would be great ......you can send him the signature banner , but he will need the 800 DPI Version that I have ...If you need to talk off the board just PM me ...I would be really interested in what he could do for us ..

Thanks

PANAMA Check list

Might sound obvious but Pack lots of high factor sun cream, you are close to the equator, ( but do not cross it) and on PC day out a lot watching everything going on, it takes a long time all day and so you burn without noticing it.
If on deck wear hats etc., and protect eyes, even if raining and it is likely, protect yourself you will still burn.

Pack lots of cameras and Videos you will use it all quickly, and extra batteries on charge all the time. Again long day.

Take cameras to every dinner Disney often had a surprise.

Buy a photo package this time, many photos, you will want them.

If your Digi camera memory gets close to full do not loose it ask Shutters to convert to disc. Best to get a large memory on the Digi camera.

Water, take lots of it during the day, and if you have alcohol in moderation!

Its very humid, care for people with Asthma. Headaches might occur so bring tablets. Get back into Air-conditioning is the best.

Ships photographers will get off the ship at the PC locks, they take pictures of you, wear something you will notice at Shutters, we had an England flag on our verandah.

Go to the pre PC talks I am sure they will have some and they explain a lot in advance and what to look out for. You might get a book in your room as well.
Ship has a barbecue on the day of the crossing in addition to Topsiders and plutos.

Read PC Navigator thoroughly it will tell you the times through each lock on the day, plan your day accordingly, its a long day, you will need a break.

Best view is front of the ship, DECK 10, it went very early on PC day, many people, staked their claim early, but as I said long day, so be polite, you have to move sometime, for loos etc. so allow everyone to look.

Best to agree a meeting place in advance for all the family as it is very busy and people and kids can get lost.

Mickey Minnie etc. are likely to be at the front all day on the view areas outside the bridge, so look out for them.

Ships stateroom TV will have one channel with a live PC guide speaking on it, if you have a view from your room turn up the sound and listen as you go through.

Ships horn is likely to go off a lot, lots of locals on land keep calling out for the ship and the bridge responds with the horn.

The Captain doesn't like you throwing anything off the ship in the locks local kids call to you and ask for anything from Mickey soap, to Disney stuff etc., The ship will be fined if you throw anything off.

Sorry the ships laundry is very busy on PC day? Does everyone think it will be empty?

If your family or friends have port and s/board rooms with views best to agree in advance to allow each other access on the PC transit day, the best views could be either side.

The ship is likely to arrive at the entrance to PC late the previous evening and stop to refuel, this was at sea on DCL last time, but on princess cruises we had a announced stop and could get off in Panama from 6pm to 12 midnight.

Very early on PC day the PC authority crew will come alongside the DM and jump onto the ship from a small boat, its good to watch and then they take over control of the ship through the transit of PC.

The little trains pulling and guiding the ship through the locks are called 'Mules' they have cables attached to them from the ship, and they run on a rack, and rails and go down steep slopes.

Lower outside port hole rooms might get a close up view of the lock walls as we descend, Lumiers at dinner was below the walls and you saw them through all windows.

In my opinion the Pacific is more active than the Caribbean bring medication if you suffer from movement.

Acapulco take of the so called tourist guides, they hassle you a lot, they want to take you to where they get commission including friends market stalls.

Leaving LA you might get a tug escorting us out with a plume of water as a fountain its a good picture opportunity.

The disembarkation presentation is the night before Castaway cay, not CC night to give you more time that night. Worth going as a few things change remember lots of luggage on this one.

If they have a crew talent show go its very good indeed.

Allow extra shipboard credit and spending its 15 days, more tips, more photos, and I presume special PINs as well that cost a lot, and dont forget the statutory T shirts for the cruise. They most likly with have a sale of Mexician riveria t shirts after leaving acapulco as they will not be going back again!

Postcards and Panama stamps are available at guest services, you do not get off but the ship can have them posted for you on the day only.

Wow you guys are a LINK ing machine this am. I will post them in the summary.

That is funny that you had a fish extender. They really lengthen more than extend.

I got what I could afford, and am happy just to be on the ship. Like others have stated, I would be happy to stay in a broom closet if I had too, afterall,

THIS IS THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME right Capt'n? :lmao:

Jeezy Pete, does this place ever slow down? :surfweb:

Anyone else keeping it a secret?
We're keeping this cruise a secret from the boys. Just tonight at the dinner table they were practicing their Disney Magic horn blow. We've been listening to it for months. There is no way we'e going to get them wound up for this cruise nearly 20 months beforehand. Especially since we're hitting the world for 10 days this August.

so, very unfortuantely that means I can't add the totally awesome logo to my signature or add a ticker. :sad2: They like to read over my shoulder when I'm on the boards and would totally notice it.

Besides, it'll be kind of fun to just show up at the Magic and "see if they'll let us on board". They'll be coming out of their skins!

Yep, keeping secrets here too. We're doing the Med Repo this august, then this Repo next August. My son has no clue about either. He also reads over my shoulder at times too, but fortnately he hasn't really paid attention to the ticker or banner.

Not sure how long the secret will last. I was planning on telling him probably around May after the final payment is made.

Good Morning everyone!!!:)

sunny here - but with wind chill warnings for tonight and tomorrow am - not looking froward to going out in it!!!:scared1:

Man, ya'll had a party in here last night - I had fun skimming through everything - made a mental note about the kids clubs..I will have a 10 year old.

Gotta put down the deposit today - make it official!!! YAY!

What is everyone planning for SuperBowl??? We are having a quiet night at home with a big munchies fest..DD has classes all day tomorrow so we don't get home until 7, mom is out of town (at WDW!!!!:sad1: ) - so no babysitter, and we are babysitting mom's diabetic cat - which means insulin at 8 o'clock. So ,we had to say no to a friend's party...oh well..

If I don't make it back online before then - have fun making it to 10,000!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: GO WENCHES!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

:wizard: Have a great Saturday all!!!!:wizard:
