Also, someone will have to find a really good discount liquor store on the way...

There is a Costco in Garden Grove very close to DL. I know that not everyone is a member but they do have the best selection and the cheapest prices. Maybe the pirates on the bus could come up with a shopping list and have the members go in and make the purchases.

We drove chunks of it on our Kodiak, AK to San Diego move. No kids, just the dog and a tent. It was great fun...until we got between LA and San Diego on the Friday of 4th of July weekend - not a hotel, campground, or place to pitch a tent available in all of SoCal. We had to sleep in the car one night. We passed an sign for the Del Mar Polo Grounds and decided if we were going to spend the night in the car we would do it in style!

"Ahh yes, remember the night we spent at the Del Mar Polo Grounds..."

This was the same trip we pitched our tent at a campground in Bellingham, WA only to discover AFTER we went to bed that the site was about 25 yards from train tracks! Not much sleeping happened that night.

Maybe calling it PCH is a SoCal thing.
That sounds like such a great trip!

Back in my BMW (Before Multiple Weimaraners) days, when I was young(er) and single, I took myself on a trip to visit a friend in Palm Springs - from Seattle. Big storm hit in OR. I-5 was closed and had to take the long way around the mountains - down the coast. Wound up sleeping in the car in the middle of the Siskiyou's. Scared myself silly telling myself campfire stories. Boy was I glad I had a dog with me. :rotfl2: Sure was a pretty drive though.

My DS14 has allergy induced asthma. He's allergic to some kind of mold in NY. Never has attacks here in VA. We've spent 3 rainy Thanksgivings in the ER (in NY):sad2: He will go years without a problem and we get lax and leave the inhaler at home. We've gotten better about it:rolleyes:

So does DS10. He got walking pneuonmia three or four times in 18 months. Doc said - that's not right. Checked him for asthma. Sure enough - allergy induced asthma. Gave us an inhalier and allergy meds and told us that if it starts to flare up to hit it hard with the inhaler. As long as we stay on top of the Zyrtec he's fine.

He got a bad flare upthis fall. Turns out he'd not taken is Zyrtec for four days! :headache: Took us a week to fight it back down.

This Northen Californian has only known it as Hwy 101.

I sure am glad I'm not the only one. :goodvibes

WENCHES BRUNCH & TEA

TEA:
The private dining room was not available for the tea. So, what I did was take my list of guests (full names & ressie#) and the date (or dates) I wanted and as soon as I embarked I ran (literally) up to Palo and met w/the manager to place my request.

Uh. I'm planning on leaving my little white gloves at home. Are the gloveless welcome?

Thanks yal! If this is not the most organized group- I don't know what would be.
I will sit tight and when we get the final count- go from there.

I think it's a case of many hands make light work. We certainly don't seem to have a shortage of volunteers. :goodvibes

Now if I could find a few crewmates to come help sort, pack, and ship all those shirts I'd be a happy wench. Though - I doubt anyone is local enough for it to work.

In looking for a graphic for swabbies at a bar I stumbled across this in Sacramento. We may have to send Esteri in for a reconnaissance mission.

swabbies1.jpg

I found their address. Right by the airport - not too far from here.

ATTENTION ALL

WESTCOAST PIRATES!!

MARCH 15th at Disneyland

The 60 day mark is quickly approaching and we need a head count for dinner at the Blue Bayou. Please PM Todd (DisneyVegas1) or myself with the number of people (and how many 9 and under).

I have GOT to figure out a way to get to this. I think I could afford airfare for myself - but I'd need a place to bunk for the night.

Regardless - I'll make certain the sample shirts are there.

Of course, I wonder if DCL will have enough booze on board for this crowd or will they be restocking at every port? :lmao: :lmao:

Are you kidding? As much as we're carrying on - They'll be wondering why they're not selling as much as usual!

We are now into our year that our voyage is going to happen and time will now start to move real fast and before we lose track of anything I just want to Thank EVERYONE for there help with everything from the website to Ts**ts to bus schedule and information along with setting up excursions and so forth . Without Everyone this wouldnt be as enjoyable , I look forward to cruiseing with all of you and being your Captain , So man the braces we need full wind in our sails , Now .... Show me that Horizon ....

Hear, Hear!

yesterday was a beautiful day here in new jersey. it got up to 70 degrees.
i even wore shorts to work, i wouldnt normally wear shorts to work at 70 degrees but it might be a long time until we get to 70 again.
glad to give my heater a rest. oil man came last week and it was 3.29 a gallon.

We had oil delivered on 12/31, their (oil company) current price was 3.09, but we got it for 2.99 because we had locked the price in back in June. Still, it was a shock seeing the total bill.............:faint:

Morning everyone! Happy humpday :)

Wendy, we get the bus for 5 hours and can do whatever we want (within legal limits!) in that time . . . no problem with stopping at multiple hotels as well as a water/liquor stop . . .

Great. Shouldn't take long to pick up everyone - right now we're all pretty close together. I'm assuming we're aiming to be at the Port early.

Hi Andy, The cold weather is heading your way again. The 65 was nioce while it lasted.:cloud9:

I know, tell me about it Cheryl, it is still 63* here at the moment, but the weather forecast calls for possible sn*w showers this coming Monday and Tuesday.............:faint:

FYI - Southwest just opened booking through 8/3/08 for anyone going out WAY early.

I plugged in 8/1/08, exactly 2 weeks before I plan to fly & I wan't terribly impressed with the price. I can do better on sidestep so far.

Thanks for the heads up! I thought they opened up on Thursdays - so I'd put that in my calendar. Just used my rapid rewards to get our flight home from MCO on May (for our Mom and Dad getaway). :woohoo:

I looked at the prices for two weeks before too - they're not bad, but more than if I bounce down for the meet in March. OK, $6 more - so it's not much more.

Well, if you're going to do that you might as well stop at the Class 6 and let the military members do your shopping. Nothing is cheaper than a Class 6 (not even duty free). Not so good for CA wines though - good for imported wines and liquour.

Hey M, can you see it now? The shopping carts of booze we'd be taking from the Class 6?? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I can be the sober wench on the committee if you are still in need of one. :lmao: Sorry, I don't drink. But I do plan on putting together a fish extender (my first, yes I am a fish extender virgin). So if you still need help let me know.

Terri, I don't drink either - maybe we can set up a non-alcoholic drink comittee :) . I'm also a fish extender virgin.

What type of little gifties were put in the extenders on the Med Cruise? Just to give us newbies an idea.

Hi Esteri - don't really know you yet - actually, don't really know anyone on this thread yet - hope that changes - time to stop rambling..... I live about 1 hr away from Sacramento. When the time comes for t sh**t sorting/packing let me know. Also, my sisters a lurker on this thread - I can probably drag her along.

Here is another Costco that I saw info for on a cruise forum board that is near the airport

"Exit the Highway 405 at Rosecrance West, cross Rosecrance towards the entrance Highway 405 North, they on the right hand side opposite the entrance.

I'm planning for at least 100. Our last cruise I did some of my *gifts* per stateroom and some per person/child.

I already have several hundred things ready!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Wish to share some info. First time doing this and I do have a lot of little Disney trinkets laying around but getting some thoughts and ideas would help for us newbies :goodvibes

None. Would be difficult to do at airport with all the security. Probably less hassle for DCL transfers (but more $$)

True but I figure if we have a few people arriving around the same time we can maybe get a 10 passenger van and share the cost

An officer's wife without white gloves  The shock  The horror:eek:

No wonder we get along so well!

So here is the plan... tack an extra dollar or two onto the t-shirt price to fund my plane ticket. I'll fly out for a long weekend - 1 day sorting, packing & shipping - 2 days in Napa!

:)

Ever seen the old game show Supermarket Sweep? I can just picture the two of us with 8 foot long shopping lists and 30 minutes to get it all to the check out!

Let me know when you're planning on the pack & ship.... I could make a day trip of it. :thumbsup2

Yes, that one is in Manhattan Beach and if you were coming from the airport you could either stop at that one or the one in Torrance on the way to San Pedro. But coming from Disneyland to San Pedro the Garden Grove location would be the most convenient.

Hey can't you train those MW's? :dog2::dog2::dog2::dog2::dog2:

Sidestep :confused3

Hmmm, not sure if DH will let me go to Palo alone. Has anyone met Anton? Wonder if he's still there. Somehow, his tour of the brunch buffet included something about running away to Tuscany. ...or maybe that was my mimosa talking.

Seriously, I've never been to tea. That would be fun.

I definitely put in for tea, but I asked DH how he would feel if I went to brunch without him & he said, "I don't care". But to me that means he doesn't have the capacity to think that far ahead & when it actually comes time for me to head off to brunch he'll say, "You mean I'm not invited to this?"

Seriously I'm not kidding! He can not discuss a trip with me until we are in the car heading to the airport & then he has a million questions & I am NOT in the mood to discuss it since I am exausted from having packed everything at the last minute & slept about an hour. I would like to say it won't happen this time & I'll be more prepared, but let's get real here. Anyway all in all...it makes for a fun ride! :sad2:

This must be a recent change in policy. I organzined the brunch room for the 2006 holiday cruise and all other parties (except myself) could book an additional brunch. But, then again, I only had to give a head count, not names and ressie numbers. I had PM'd that I wanted to join, but my DH loves the Palo Brunch more than I do, so if it means I can't get my own ressie for the both of us, I am going to bow out. :sad1: I'm bummed - it sounded like a blast.

I'll join the swabbies walking by the deck 10 windows in my speedo, or belly up to the bar :cool1:

Sounds like a few of us might be in the same boat! Would anyone consider doing a couple's brunch? Would anyone like me to plan one?

On a sadder note ther is a terrible pile up on I4 south of Disney, now involving over 50 cars. When you see the view from the copters, it is a solid blanket of fog. This article is a bit old and the updates on tv are possitively horrifying. How sad to start the day this way......

I saw that on the news up here. They said it was because of a controlled burn that got out of control & blanketed the highway with smoke. Don't know how accurate that is. :confused3

Don't worry, it was taken in a good way, hence the "designated walker" and other similar comments.

Yes one thing you quickly learn around here is that many of us are a bunch of smart adds...me included! ;)

I talk big about drinking but I am a social drinker.;) One or two glasses of wine and I am done for. On ther opther hand I can hold my own when it comes to margaritas.:woohoo:

Same here! Does chat count as a social occassion? :lmao:

Some have met in mini-meets, but for the most part we've just learned a little bit about each other by chatting here & in Friday night chat. It doesn't take long so join in & tell your sister too! :goodvibes
