Now this is a new one on me! :confused3

Actually, I goofed. It is my kid's daycare that banned the PB&J. The school just requires peanut-free tables in the cafeteria:o
Although some individual teachers may ban them from classrooms or field trips if a child in the class has a peanut allergy:confused3

You can't be serious?! Wonder who came up with that one? :confused3

Wow, those look great.

Our center has an International Christmas party each year. Each child (and staff member)brings in a dish or two that represents their culture. (I always make something southern:yay:) Parents are welcomed to spend the whole day with us. We have our Christmas program in the morning followed by lunch. Parents and teachers go from room to room sampling all the wonderful goodies. Later we play games and pass out Christmas presents.

This year instead of having a few parents bake desserts, I was thinking of having my students bake Christmas cookies. If any of you have recipes that your kids enjoy helping with, please post them. :dance3:

I am his greatest fan, ( apart from the one on his ceiling!):cool1:

I'm curious to see his reaction to this part of the thread....

Right now our two biggest issues are that she thinks anything on the kitchen counter is hers and she destroys all dog toys in about 10 minutes.

If you figure out a good cure for the counter scavenging, let me know, out Dal keeps doing this too.....

:lmao: :lmao: I did this too:thumbsup2 My sixteenth anniversary is next Julyprincess:

JR is getting all the guys in trouble here...

Completely serious. A boy in DS6's kindergarten has a life threatening peanut allergy. Actually, to most nuts, and some other things. It's not the peaunt butter that's the problem so much as the peanut oil (from the peanut butter or other stuff) that might get on a chair or table, or whatever.

Peanut free lunches are voluntary in the class, though I believe all families are living with the limitations. And the children are aware and look out for this boy. (It's done within the context of we all care for each other, and this is one way we care about our classmate.)

The good news is that this is his first year of kindergarten, so he'll be a year behind DS6 and we won't have to live with these limitations throughout the grades. And, the school community it pretty supportive of the situation.

Scat Mats. They're a mat that puts out a static charge. Startling, but not painful. The counter walking usually stops when they learn the counters "bite". I have a couple I'm happy to lend out - what I want them back. Might be best just to teach them to stay out of the kitchen all together - provided your house layout works that way. These work especially well in doorways or hallways.

After a particuliarly long fight at sea the winning captain comes ashore to find a large crew of media. The reporters fight to ask questions before the Captain finally singles out one attractive, young reporter, who asks: "Captain, Where did you learn such amazing tactics? was it the Navy?"

The Captain, obviously amused replied:
"Well it sure wasn't the ARRRRRghmy!"

Or the Coast Guard??

A thousand

WELCOME's

to all our new Pirates. This is great crew we've got here. Just jump on in. Don't try and catch up.

In other news, I'll be meeting with our T-**** printer on the 26th. He's just getting in all the supplies for his new equipment and we'll be able to get a few samples done. (Yes, I'll take pictures.)

Do we have a list some place of the upcoming meets? We could send the samples out to the different meets so folks can see them.

Oops. Gotta run. Gotta date with a 6 year old and an unfinished Gingerbread house. He's finished drawing his plan and is ready to start.

What was all this waiting stuff. I had meetings all day. Didn't wait a minute.

Plus, the thread sounded like you were all having a great time, wonderful hold music, consistent pricing, quick answering.....

Was very pleasantly surprised at the price my TA sent me (so cheap, couldn't afford not to go).

Excuse me while I duck for all the stuff being thrown at me.
....
You better duck, here comes some shoes. I waited over 3 hours and got three tier pricing!!!

Okay, now I understand. ;) I was beginning to think it was some kind of goofy political statement or something.

Sounds like fun. We want pictures!!!

Have to say in the past week I have been preoccupied with 2009 and booking a special Eastern cruise and what to do after it, something for a change, maybe a villa this time.

And we are not even in 2008 yet,

I think 7 nights in 09 is going to feel rather short after 15 nights in 2008!

Hope after the release of 09 rates and cruises, DCL put their minds to our excursions for the repo, I think they would be out mid January, our Med ones came out mid December with a nice DVD.

There was also podcasts for the Med,

To be honest though, I am thinking of going on my own in a few,

With Acapulco hours, being a breakfast stop, we are going to be limited, anyone want to book a private brunch at McDonalds Acapulco? Thought not!

Aruba by all counts is so easy to walk off and get to a great beach, or the other way a shopping mall.

Cartagena I will get a DCL, tour to be safe,

PV, Taxi maybe, lets see what they do.

Actually, its a secret anti-Jimmy Carter thing.... shhhhhh :lmao:

I am thinking about renting a car in Cabo. Went there on my honeymoon and we had a car back then.. and we want to cover alot of ground. Need to figure out which rental companies are near the tender.

When planning for my long airplane ride to Paris this summer I found a thread discussing airplane snacks. Some folks were saying that you aren't supposed to bring any kind of nut snack on the plance because some people are so allergic that even the scent/fumes gets to them??? Had never heard of that before. They went on to explain how PB&Js had been banned at schools. I understand that some folks do have a severe allergy but I've never heard of nut fumes bothering somone??

On one of our latest flights on Southwest it was announced that peanuts would not be served on our flight due to the fact that a passenger had a peanut allergy. Pretzels were served in the place of the peanuts.

I think these allergies vary from person to person.
A friend of mine had a scary story about her sister who was allergic to nuts (not peanuts). She took a bite of a cookie, not realizing it had some kind of nut in it. Apparently, there is some kind of "tingling" reaction right away and she knew she had to act fast. She called 911 and while waiting for them to arrive took 2 shots of an epi pen and then downed a bottle of liquid benedryl. Apparently the benedryl helped her survive until the ambulance came. :scared1:

My friend explained that liquid benedryl can get down the throat as it is starting to close and is good to have in emergencies. So now I try to make sure I have one in the house and when we travel.

Seems to be more allergies these days:confused3
