Thanks. I mean, even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. I can't be wrong all of the time, although that's not what my wife says.

Although right now, I am on her good side since we celebrated our 16th anniversary last night (a week early since she is in Paris next week) and I went the 'shiny things' route and got her 1/2 carat diamond earrings so she is very happy for a change with me.

Of course it is not as nice as last year when we were on the Magic for our anniversary....

Happy Anniversary :rolleyes1 Happy Anniversary :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Happy Anniversaaaaaaaaary - Happy Anniversary!

You did good you squirrel you! ;)
Yes...

Captain....

Prepare for more Pirates joining the crew.......pirate:

My guess after the big cancellation some T/A's grabbed some rooms on 'hold' and kept them for 24/48 hours, and if their clients didn't pay up in time, they went back to DCL, and released today.

Also the availability is good news for anyone concerned about GTY status, it means DCL is very happy with the number of bookings and they wouldn't release more rooms if the cruise was 'too' overbooked.

Fingers crossed - hoping that someone hears up up there - hoping that some friends might get on.

So I'm thinking ALOT of rooms opened up? Looks like the Buyers Remorse Syndrome is kicking in the closer we get. On the bright side, maybe upgrades for those already booked. I can dream can't I?

Arlene - from your fingers to God's Ears!

Hi all - had two minutes and just popped in.

Christmas Miracles are happening already - just heard from a long lost cousin that I haven't heard from since I was 15 which is about..........a couple decades ago. :rotfl2: We spent 1 1/2 hrs talking - can't believe - I who hates talking on the phone could actually talk that long on the phone - my phone battery actually started dying on me. I was switching phones at the end. :rotfl: How sad is that? :lmao:

Christmas tree is up!

We got a small one today at Stew Leonard's.

Here's a pic with my little DD and the tree:

Pretty tree! I am enjoying seeing all the decorations:woohoo: Keep them coming:goodvibes

Gumballs. They were in the second kit.

The first kit got assembled, but not decorated, and the ants found it. I walked through the kitchen and it was fine. 20 minutes later it was covered in ants. Really!

So, that one got tossed, and a second one was purchased. This is the second one. The candies are a combination from the two kits - and we had LOTS leftover. (Despite all the nibbling.)
.

Check it out - I'm quoting myself. :lmao:

I forgot to tell you, it turns out Taiko-the-shoe-thief is also a gumball thief. I put the gingerbread house on the piano bench to clear the table for supper. DS10 heard a ping of something dropping on the floor. It was a gumball - one of the little ones that make the firepit. The yellow one on the outside to be exact.

The thing is - if he hadn't dropped it, no one would have known. There was absolutely NO damage or marks on the snow (the pictures were taken AFTER said theivery). How he managed to extract a half buried gumball and leave no marks still has me scratching my head. DS6 couldn't have managed it - but the DOG did?

Not sad at all. Rather happy actually.

Hi Gang,

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I hate shopping - but xmas is approaching so spent alot of time on line - especially w/eBay and finished most of my shopping. Oh, did buy gifts for grandkids while at DL also!!!!
Just need to get some gift baskets and gift cards next week and I'm done.

I don't know how all of you handle the cold weather - I am freezing when the temp is 60 degrees!!!

I am so impressed by the creativity of you guys - your decorations & crafts are just amazing. I will not be posting pics - I am of the minimalist school or maybe just of the not-very-creative school!!

Have a great week all!!

Hi all, do you have room for 4 more?? Thanks to this board and the heads up, and a great TA at a great agency, me, dh, DS7, DD12 (at time of cruise) will be joining all of you!!

Can't stay to chat and meet you guys yet, since I have to pack for me and DH to go on our visit voyage with the Magic leaving tomorrow!!!

Wecome aboard!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Noooooo. I am always on my best behaviour!

(that should get enough objections to bring us closer to the next)
pirate:

Not telling the truth will make your nose grow!!!!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It looks like we will be joining you!!!:yay: :yay: I called and booked one of the openings last night and I still can't believe it. I mean, it's been booked for so long I hadn't even given the Panama trip a serious thought. If it hadn't been for the DIS boards, I would never have known.:thumbsup2

This will be our 5th trip on the Magic. It's me, DH, DD-13 (turning 14 Sept. 6) and DS-10 (turning 11 Sept. 9) I haven't had a chance to, and realistically doubt I will, read all of the past pages. So, are there any other young teens going?

I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Glad you came to chat. I saw your name but maybe it was moving a little fast. Just jump in. :flower3:

Our family (DH, DS (13), DD (12) and me) will be joining you all as well :cool1: :cool1: . Trish our wonderful travel agent has been sitting on the computer and checking every 15 minutes or so today :surfweb: and snagged us a CAT8. I can't believe we've actually managed to get on the ship  . It will be our second cruise - we did a 4day on the Wonder in AUG07. Looking forward to getting caught up on all that has been written on this thread.

I have a feeling the 15 night will not be long enough for me!!!:rolleyes1 Glad you are joing us!!!:cheer2:

He has never been innocent of anything! Look all the fires in California have stopped as well, No Earthquakes, get my point?

Look at all the disasters avoided because Crash was in the middle of an ocean.

Here are several other people who claim innocence!!!:rolleyes1

Absolutly adorable! My 6dd is really worried that Santa won't find her this year -- we aren't putting up a tree in this house since we are REALLY hoping to move around Christmas.

DH and I go tomorrow morning and pick out some paint/glaze finishes for a few of the rooms.

It was fun talking to you!!!:yay: Make my guest suite a nice shade of lavender.:flower3:

Just now looked out my back door, here's what I saw on my back step...

The rolled snow balls to make another snowman are my contribution. Big brother contributed the firepit idea. I talked to him about making trees and he agreed. The rest of the design is his, though we all did it together.

Great job, Love it!!! The pics are wonderful!!!

Thanks to Angelina's cat, we had to buy a 4' tree last year and had to place it on our entertainment center.

Our tree with just the tree lights on in the livingroom(pic taken last night).

I just took this pic this morning, tree lights were off in this pic.

Be carefule Debi! I'll take s*** over ice any day. Luckily we're above freezing here, because the rain is coming down.

That looks great Esteri. How old are your kids? We made a gingerbread house last year. We had a great time, but it looked like your gingerbread house after a natural disaster struck it. :lmao:

That's really nice to hear. It's funny how you can reconnect with some people and it seems like you never lost touch.

Thanks, everyone! Laurie, since age is just a number, 29 sounds like a good one, right?????????????? And Cheryl I love the picture of that cake!

I've always hated having my birthday so close to Christmas, but of course it could be worse (even closer!) . . . I did get to go to a fabulous Christmas party last night and the caterers brought out a petit four with a candle for me to blow out.

Thanks again!!!

My cookie dough is mixed. Baking starts tonight!
DS's helped quite a bit, and were covered in flour in the process. We had fun.

I told the old cow I wanted to make sure my daughter got to her class and next time go yell at the woman outside who DIRECTED me to come down here rather than yelling at a parent. (This same bat was yelling at kids coming in: "No hats in school" "No running". )

Um, it was snowing, right? So there were supposed to whip off their hats at the exact moment they walked through the door? :confused3

So far, I haven't found the "No Running" lady to be any more reasonable as an adult than I did when I was 7.

Let them take the little risks now so when they get big enough to really hurt themselves (or others) they've already learned about consequences. A few pinched fingers in the grocery cart wheels is well worth the lesson in my book.

ITA :thumbsup2

So, if I just PM you my address, they'll be in the mail?? :goodvibes

Umm, yeah, sure...they're in the mail...

All I make are "Chippies". Melted chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and peanut butter, poured over mini marshmallows. Yummmmm!

OMG! My teeth ache just reading about those!

This year instead of having a few parents bake desserts, I was thinking of having my students bake Christmas cookies. If any of you have recipes that your kids enjoy helping with, please post them. :dance3:

Not a cookie, but super easy for kids:

White Chocolate Snack Mix

3 c. Cheerios
3 c. Rice Chex
3 c. Corn Chex
16 oz. plain M&M's (I use the holiday ones)
3 c. pretzels (small twists seem to be best)
16 oz. peanuts (...maybe...)
1.25 lb. white chocolate (I just use 2 bags of white choc. chips.)

1. Melt chocolate - interesting factoid, the 'popcorn' setting of most microwaves is exactly the amount of time needed to melt a 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips, just stir them when the time is up.

2. Mix remaining ingredients in a large bowl.

3. Place 1/3 of mixture in a bowl and gentle mix with 1/3 of chocolate. Transfer to a wax paper or parchment lined cookie sheet to cook.

4. Repeat 2x with remaining mixture.

5. Break into bite size pieces.

6. This keeps for quite a while in large zipper bags.

Scat Mats. They're a mat that puts out a static charge. Startling, but not painful. The counter walking usually stops when they learn the counters "bite". I have a couple I'm happy to lend out - what I want them back. Might be best just to teach them to stay out of the kitchen all together - provided your house layout works that way. These work especially well in doorways or hallways.

Oh, I think I need those! Our Lab was just as big, but we never had this counter problem. It is driving me nuts.

Okay, now I understand. ;) I was beginning to think it was some kind of goofy political statement or something.

No it's not, but the free range hot dogs and fair trade chocolate milk are.

On one of our latest flights on Southwest it was announced that peanuts would not be served on our flight due to the fact that a passenger had a peanut allergy. Pretzels were served in the place of the peanuts.

WAIT!! WAIT!! You go a SNACK on a plane????
Must have been like a 9 hour flight!

Happy belated Anniversary JR and his DW!!!!

wecake.gif

Hey, thanks, but actually you are early because our anniversary is not until December 14 -- we just celebrated early b/c SWMBO is on a plane to Paris right now. (Yes, she will be celebrating our anniversary in Paris by herself).

(Although, if you want to get technical, our 16th anniversary was last January 7th. It's a long story...)

Now THAT is impressive. Puts the one my kids put together last year to shame.

And "big brother"? Here was his "contribution":

Seems to be more allergies these days:confused3

Between the allergies and religious food restrictions, it is getting really hard for our boys to plan their Boy Scout campout menus. No peanuts because of this kid's allergy, this one can't eat pork, this one doesn't eat beef.

I think they settled on hot dogs because they are 100% artificial.

When planning for my long airplane ride to Paris this summer I found a thread discussing airplane snacks. Some folks were saying that you aren't supposed to bring any kind of nut snack on the plance because some people are so allergic that even the scent/fumes gets to them??? Had never heard of that before. They went on to explain how PB&Js had been banned at schools. I understand that some folks do have a severe allergy but I've never heard of nut fumes bothering somone??

It's not the scent/fumes, it's the oils. What happens is, you drop your peanuts on your tray table and the oil residue remains. The airlines never clean these tables (at least not well and often) and the next person has an allergy and ends up getting that oil on their hands and then their food.

At least that is how a colleague who is allergic to peanuts explained it. Of course, he takes a small dishtowel with him and covers his tray table with it and has hand sanitizer with him at all times. He is VERY allergic to nuts.
