HAPPY BIRTHDAY
JULIE

When planning for my long airplane ride to Paris this summer I found a thread discussing airplane snacks. Some folks were saying that you aren't supposed to bring any kind of nut snack on the plance because some people are so allergic that even the scent/fumes gets to them??? Had never heard of that before. They went on to explain how PB&Js had been banned at schools. I understand that some folks do have a severe allergy but I've never heard of nut fumes bothering somone??

Actually I think that is why my kid's day care banned them. Someone accidently brought something with peanuts in and the entire room had to be scrubbed:eek: That was when they decided to make it a building wide policy.
The kid's Mom was telling me how difficult it was to keep him safe:confused3
Apparently his allergy is just extreme.

We had late dining on our last cruise, after having early dining on all other cruises, and we preferred it. I would ideally prefer it start at 8:00 instead of 8:30 but we liked having more time during the day.

Good luck!

8pm is my prefered dining time, also. :) I don't want to start getting ready for dinner at 5/5:30! That's too early! LOL!

I see that you're in Austin (we own a home in Taylor) we live in Arlington (for now --we are getting ready to move into our new home in Mansfield).

I love seeing all the new people! :welcome: :welcome:

Dh and I are travelling with 3 of our children @ time of cruise they will be 17dd, 10ds & 7dd.

Sorry JR--makes you just want to sream at them. Nothing like being reprimanded by a teacher. That has only happened to me once when Adam was in kindergarten--and not for walking him to his classroom. I think this was the day after he "stole" 3 marbles from the science room. I was so tired of getting evening phone calls from this woman about how my son was figetedy (he had severe exzema on his arms and legs--I would have been fidgety too), didn't pay attention, that he blew his straw wrapper in the cafe. and it went on and on. That I went in after school, with Adam left in my car and blew up at the old bag. Bad thing was Adam set the alarm off in the car and I just let it run it's course--the office was paging me over the intercom . Never got another phone call from her:rolleyes1

Now needless to say, my son was miserable that year and totally shut down and repeated kindergarten. He had a wonderful teacher that year with whom he blossomed. :goodvibes

That reminds me of when my now 27ds was 6 and in first grade. The teacher called me EVERY night!
teacher *Michael sat on his knees during lunch today.*
me *Did it cause him to bother the other children?*
teacher *No. But, he's not allowed to sit on his knees.*

next night....
teacher*Michael talked during lunch today.*
me*Was he yelling?*
teacher*No, but, the kids shouldn't speak during lunch.*

WTHeck?????? When else can they talk to each other???????

I'm thinking there were more important things for her to concern herself other then the fact that my son sometimes sat on his knees and other times he actually......sat....on one foot in his seat! :scared1: The horror!

I had to tell Michael that he would not get punished at home for everything that his teacher thought was wrong........

On one of our latest flights on Southwest it was announced that peanuts would not be served on our flight due to the fact that a passenger had a peanut allergy. Pretzels were served in the place of the peanuts.

That happened on our last Jet Blue flight & they also asked that if anyone had their own snacks to be please refrain from eating any that might contain nuts. Taking a big risk that all would comply I think. :confused3

Actually, I goofed. It is my kid's daycare that banned the PB&J. The school just requires peanut-free tables in the cafeteria:o
Although some individual teachers may ban them from classrooms or field trips if a child in the class has a peanut allergy:confused3

Same at our school. Peanut free table, some classes that ban peanut containing snacks altogether, etc.

We got our Christmas tree today, but we threw a couch out so we could fit it by the window! :lmao: Really my DH hated it because the cushions always fell off. We will decorate in the next few days & I hope to get my Christmas cards out, but you all put me to shame! :goodvibes

Go Patriots!!!!

Christmas tree is up!

We got a small one today at Stew Leonard's.

Here's a pic with my little DD and the tree:

Actually, its a secret anti-Jimmy Carter thing.... shhhhhh

Is that it? I'll have to have a chat with his mother... :rotfl2:

I've heard of people being that allergic, but haven't met anyone like that. This boy is so allergic that if you make peanut butter sandwiches, and then mix up a batch of cookies in the same spot - the cross contamination will cause the reaction.

DS6 had the first birthday celebration of the year. This mom was going to bring a set of muffins special for her son. Again, it's not that the birthday muffins have nuts - they don't. But, she can't be certain how clean others keep their kitchen. Anyway, DS6 birthday celebration was done on very short notice (2 days), and we figured she'd probably forget so we were very careful making them. (DH is ServeSafe certified.) Sure enough - the special muffins didn't get made. It was nice to be able to asure her that her boy would be safe. She was in tears the next morning thanking us. I can't imagine the constant fear she lives with - the world is a dangerous place for her boy.

Is that like having to buy new guest room furniture when your mother in law comes to visit?

The rolled snow balls to make another snowman are my contribution. Big brother contributed the firepit idea. I talked to him about making trees and he agreed. The rest of the design is his, though we all did it together.

We still serve PB&J Uncrustables here in OKC.

Absolutly adorable! My 6dd is really worried that Santa won't find her this year -- we aren't putting up a tree in this house since we are REALLY hoping to move around Christmas.

DH and I go tomorrow morning and pick out some paint/glaze finishes for a few of the rooms.

Gumballs. They were in the second kit.

The first kit got assembled, but not decorated, and the ants found it. I walked through the kitchen and it was fine. 20 minutes later it was covered in ants. Really!

So, that one got tossed, and a second one was purchased. This is the second one. The candies are a combination from the two kits - and we had LOTS leftover. (Despite all the nibbling.)

Esteri, I can't imagine having to deal with that on a daily basis. That poor Mom.:sad2:
